Match Thread Ipswich away match thread

Probably our strongest bench for some time (talent wise - albeit minus a different attacking option for Nuttall), evident with Downing and Whittingham not even in the 18. Going for 1-1 to start the season. COYB. -
Be nice to sign someone else so that the social media team don’t have to continue with their hourly Palmer updates. Good signing but anyone would think we’d signed Messi.
-
I think the ‘Agent Benno’ stuff was very poor in reflection given we ended up signing one guy who everyone knew was coming in. The club must have known that everyone would have suspected Armstrong or Chapman. Big few days ahead, need 3 players minimum.
-
Benno was tapping them both up on social media earlier this summer saying ‘agent Benno’, so logic would dictate that one of them is coming. My money is on Armstrong.

Lad couldn’t hit a barn door. Need to do better.

Been away for a few weeks and just catching up. Agree with the consensus of concern - out wide was our number one problem area and we’ve brought in absolutely zilch thus far which is very concerning, not to mention up front. If Graham is crocked come start of the season and we’re reliant on Samuel to bag the goals then we may as well wave the white flag now.

Don’t forget Perisic. Insane shift put in by him, was my MOM above Luka. -
Pleased with the signing of Rothwell; obviously had the best schooling possible so will be technically adept. Only worry is his injury record so let’s hope he’s more Richie Smallwood than Corry Evans on that front!

Mowbray has wanted this fella since January which is good enough for me. Good luck to him. Now for the next signings...

World Cup 2018

What is inexcusable is Sampaoli's selections. No Banega, Di Maria, Lo Celso, Dybala, Pavon. I could go on. Needs sacking before the Nigeria game! -
So long as he isn't a Lenihan replacement then I'm all for it.
-
Shows just what we're up against when one of the expected-to-be poorer teams in the division shell out £13m on a player. Our pot really does need to be more extensive than a couple of million or we're in for a dogfight. Of course Sheff Utd/Milwall etc. have shown it doesn't need to be big bucks, but Mowbray needs some firm financial backing, which hopefully he's got.
-
Time to get Dack and Lenihan tied down, then get on with some real business.
-
This. He may have a role to play for the odd away match (sparingly) but he should not be starting at home, full stop. We need to be taking the game to the opposition at Ewood and he doesn't allow us to do that.
-
Bauer would be a good signing; so long as it doesn’t mean Lenihan is off. We lacked height and physicality last season and he’d bring that in spades.

http://the72.co.uk/105061/rangers-leeds-united-blackburn-rovers-wigan-athletic-want-liverpool-winger/ Looks like he played under TM at Cov.
-
I think he’s Orr’s nephew too. Avoid!
-
No need for the new plumber, Caddis is still here for another year.
-
I like Lansbury too but I see two issues: cost, and his temperament. We can get away with one Dack (personality wise) at the club, but not two. IMO of course.
-
I'd definitely agree with this. Need to be much more streetwise next season - particularly at set pieces - and height/physical presence is central to that.
-
Can't say I remember him from our matches against them, but their fans seem more than happy in the main for him to leave. MK Dons season ticket holder mate said he'd drive him here! Hopefully just gossip IF he is that poor.
-
Nolan would be a decent signing. Get him in and shift Corry. Probably save a fair bit of £ per week too.
-
We didn't have a pot to p!ss in according to him yesterday?
-
The actual full interview itself is very positive: https://audioboom.com/posts/6868591-rovers-head-coach-tony-mowbray-is-back-from-india-following-a-meeting-with-the-club-owners-venkys Sounds like there’s budget to do a reasonable amount (within reason) to me. Nicko making up some guff once again by the sound of it.

Sorting deals out for the likes of Lenihan is just as important as bringing in new blood. If he walks away on a free in a year's time then the powers that be need shooting (again).
