  1. Yes, and I imagine we will be subsidising 80-90% of his wage. Realistically Fleetwood are not going to be able to afford much more than 10-20% of Mulgrew's current wage and thanks to TM he's in a position where he has no reason to drop his demands until next year.
  2. There is nothing credible to suggest the fee is significantly less than £7m - that's what's been reported in the media, and Mowbray has never come out to make corrections, instead confirming Brereton cost significant money. But do we really want to go back to arguing about flex?
  3. I doubt many people on here know that much about him, unless you've closely followed his career and attended the matches he played for United's youth team and Rovers u18s/u23s. If you have then fair play, if not then we just have differing opinions. We'll see how he progresses, but as it stands I'd be happy for him to have a similar impact to Travis. If he becomes even better then great.
  4. I think there's every chance JRC will develop into a solid first teamer for us, but world class? Come on now. If that was true the lad wouldn't be here only just breaking into the first team at 21. More likely he'll end up at a similar level to Travis, I'd think.
  5. Last time Charlie and the manager had a falling out Wigan were there to make him disappear for a few months - if there's no Wigan this time around do we pay him off and let him go, or keep him around doing nothing and draining £80k a month from the club's coffers? Seems like a bad situation to me. No club is going to pay Mulgrew anything close to what we're paying him as he's finished at any remotely decent level. Seems like we either pay him off and let him go, or find somebody to loan him out to with the caveat that we pay the majority of his wages. Obviously Charlie could agree a mutual termination but for the last year or so he's been happy to take the money for doing nothing - what's another year at this point in his career? Especially as he's probably on 4x the wage here that he'd be offered anywhere else.
  6. As soon as I was able I got the HP/SP auto-recovery items from the doctor's clinic. When equipped they give you back decent amounts of HP/SP per turn in battle - and if you fuse your Personas smartly you can have them also give you back HP/SP in battle. Basically meant I rarely had to use actual recovery items until near the end of the game when fighting the more difficult bosses. From memory the next palace is a lot of fun, the one after that is arguably the most difficult in the game, and the last two are also really enjoyable. As an aside I received my latest mini console from Japan today, the PC Engine mini. Considering I only ordered it on Monday evening I'm very impressed by the fast delivery time - I expected it to take at least a week or two.
  7. The problem is that the lower the price goes the more clubs will be interested. If the asking price does go down to six-figures then I would imagine there will be strong interest from a number of teams, some of which are likely to be able to provide better offers than us in terms of his contract. Obviously in an ideal world you'd get the lad for as cheap as possible, but I don't think leaving it to the wire is going to benefit us.
  8. If Mulgrew is moving to L1, on loan or otherwise, then I have to assume we will be subsidising a massive amount of his wage.
  9. If DG was going to sign for a L1 club then he probably didn't have that many options in terms of getting a decent wage. It was likely between Sunderland and Ipswich, and the latter are going to struggle as it is to balance their books going forward with the salary cap. If he has signed for Sunderland then I think it's a great signing for them. Even as a rotational option he will likely be well worth his weight in goals and assists over the course of a season. Like most I know absolutely nothing about Kaminski but I'm just relieved that it looks like we aren't even considering bringing Walton back. With the way this season ended there was no way our team could trust him between the sticks. Better for him and us that he moves on elsewhere.
  10. I don't know either, but I don't think they deserve praise for simply paying the bills. That is the responsiblity they took on when they bought the club - and a lot of the money they have been forced to pay out has been due to their own rank bad management of the club.
  11. Paying the bills is literally the most basic responsiblity Venky's have as owners (and in 2015 we were suddenly taking out emergency loans, so as for always paying the bills...) - owners that don't pay the bills are very soon not club owners anymore.
  12. Been playing a lot of Fall Guys recently. Dangerously addictive little game. Managed to win my first episode just now so life is good ?
  13. Yeah that's right, although these clubs have to make signings with one eye to the future as when many contracts come up next year they may not be able to renew them based on the new salary cap - and if they've spunked a massive portion of their wage budget on Graham, even for just a year or two, it could have consequences for who they can sign across the rest of the pitch. Clubs like Ipswich and Sunderland are basically going to want to get out of L1 ASAP as their competitive advantage through being 'big' clubs in the league is going to rapidly diminish as the seasons go on assuming the salary cap is implemented as is and sticks around. I am still sceptical as to how the EFL can apply the salary cap if it is legally unenforcable, though.
  14. Have to admit I would be surprised as well, but a lot has changed there since he's left so who knows. You have to imagine after last time their fans would lose patience with him very quickly if he didn't get off to a good start.
  15. I was on 'Maybe' before lockdown, but only based on Walton coming in as a no2 to a better goalie (which was an unlikely scenario in the first place). Changed to 'No' as post-lockdown he's been so bad I wouldn't even trust him as backup.
  16. I'd agree, although if the salary cap is being taken seriously by L1/L2 teams then smaller clubs than Ipswich might be able to offer DG higher wages due to having more room to manuever within the salary cap limits. If clubs just ignore the rule entirely then it'll probably be between Ipswich and Sunderland.
  17. If this rule is not legally viable how can it be brought in? The only clubs it would punish would be those who couldn't afford to go the legal route to get any punishment voided.
  18. We were 1-0 up at half time and I think doing fairly well, so maybe just watch the first 45 and skip the rest ?
  19. Assume it's the 4-1 to them, in which case I'll give it a miss.
  20. Ipswich linked with DG: https://www.ipswichstar.co.uk/sport/ipswich-town/ipswich-town-transfer-target-danny-graham-1-6784119 Not a surprise considering Lambert is still there and obviously he was the one who initially brought Graham here. He'd be a great signing for them but not sure how the recent salary cap introduction may affect what they can offer him in terms of wages.
  21. Going to be tough for Brentford's players to come back from this mentally, you'd think. Threw away automatic promotion when they had it in their grasp, and have now thrown away a playoff final against what is truthfully a painfully average Fulham side (albeit with some top players in it). Wouldn't be surprised to see them back with us in mid-table purgatory next season.
  22. I tend to agree. It's a great time to get a PS4 as it has an immeasurable back catalogue which blows any other console in history out of the water - and a VR headset which is affordable and mind-blowing. The console is cheap now and it'll obviously continue to get cheaper, especially when the PS5 comes out. PS4 will continue to be the ultimate console to own for the foreseeable future imo, at least 2-3 years after the PS5 is released. I very much doubt I'll be getting a PS5 until either Persona 6 is released on it or they release a new VR headset specifically for it.
  23. This is generally my experience as well. I really want to like FFIX as it gets a lot of love in the FF community, but it bores me more than any other FF game I've played. 6 starts with a brainwashed Terra and two soldiers finding a strange crystal in an underground mine, 7 starts with you terrorist f'n bombing an energy reactor, 8 has that awesome opening with Squall & Seifer fighting and you're quickly onto the SeeD field exam which is action-packed and loads of fun. 9 has a lot of text and then you're controlling some sad sack running around with a little kid trying to buy a ticket to some show.
  24. The PL needs the football pyramid for their annual relegation battle extravaganza. No pyramid means no relegation. Don't forget those lucrative cup matches that get screened on Sky as well as the playoff games at the end of the season. English football would be irrevocably changed if the football leagues were to disappear or begin collapsing and mutate beyond what we know them as today. Under normal circumstances of course Sky could not care less about how clubs are struggling in the lower divisions - but it could become catastrophic enough to effect their cash cow at which point they should start caring. If they and the PL leave the EFL to its own devices they could soon find themselves in an extremely barren wasteland when it comes to this country's footballing structure and the amount of people willing to engage with it.
  25. Neither Sky nor the PL wil benefit from lower league clubs and divisions going bust and the footballing pyramid being ruined. It would be a catastrophe both short and long-term for the game as it is established at present, so it is in the best interests of those with money to help out until such a time as things can return to some level of normality. I don't expect this to happen but it would be foolhardy for the clubs in the PL and Sky as a broadcaster to think that they will be completely shielded from the implosion of the lower leagues.
