  1. Nyambe has his flaws but the one thing you can never accuse him of is a lack of effort. The lad busts a gut up and down the flank throughout every match.
  2. Even if Bennett was a capable impact sub for a game's final stages, do we want players in the squad who are only useful in small bursts and can't be relied upon to play a full match without disadvantaging the team? Probably not. Bennett's versatility is, from my perspective, a myth. He has been played in numerous positions but how many of them does he look decent in? Any player could be deemed "versatile" if they were played all over the pitch regardless of performance.
  3. Switching Bennett to right back has been one of Mowbray's worst decisions and left us exposed countless times over the past few years. At best Bennett is a midfield harrier to come on for the last 10-15 minutes of a game to inject some energy and disrupt play. That's it. I doubt he's on a wage reflecting that kind of squad status though so he really does need to move on.
  4. Completely agree, and I think this summer could be to Mowbray what the summer of 2015 was to Bowyer. Better players leaving, replacements not on the same level, tactics not good enough to compensate - all resulting in a sharp and painful regression. I really do hope I'm wrong on that, but even if Tony does get a decent budget I can only see us treading water for another season unfortunately, and at some point the above will come to pass. We will have to start selling at some point, presumably, to keep ourselves in line with FFP.
  5. Baffling quotes. He's talking like Bennett is Roy Keane or Patrick Viera, pulling the lads up when things aren't going well and taking games by the scruff of the neck. Considering how little we ever come from behind to win (wasn't Cardiff the first time in the Championship we've done that since 2015?) and how Bennett is a total clutz that none of his team mates can rely on I find these comments completely ridiculous. Might as well bring back Robbie Savage if we need a 'character' in the team - would probably still be better than EB at this point.
  6. On one hand you have to (very begrudgingly) say well done to Paul Cook as they looked destined for the drop a few months ago - he's done well to reverse that. On the other hand it shows how incredibly average the division is this season and how finishing mid-table in it is not really progress,
  7. I have some morbid curiosity about the line-up but that's about it. If Samuel starts again I expect a new contract is imminent for him.
  8. I think Hull are stuffed, and will likely finish 23rd or even bottom. It's looking like a fight between Barnsley, Luton, Charlton and Huddersfield at this point. Birmingham in shocking form as well at the moment but probably just about have enough to limp over the line.
  9. That admission doesn't reflect well on him regardless of how it's spun. Either the players were playing to his instruction and it was useless, or they weren't which meant they paid no attention to his instructions - and he was also completely unable to change it for 45 minutes.
  10. Pathetic performance. The manager's selections and tactics tonight were an absolute joke. I really don't want to see any more of this 'progress'. I've had enough of these no-show performances and nonsense decisions. How many games this season have we played well for the entire match? It's always one bad half one good half, or more often one bad half and one average half. It's been the same since League 1. I'm just done with it, and done with Mowbray.
  11. It's a woeful division.
  12. Ah, but they were clearly brought in to play as wingers - because as far as our manager is concerned every striker is better off playing out wide, even if they have none of the attributes to do so effectively.
  13. Where is Gallagher playing if Rothwell is wide right and Downing is false 9 ?
  14. Might as well prepare for it now...
  15. One week later Rovers are delighted to announce contract extensions for Danny Graham and Dominic Samuel.
  16. Rothwell & Gallagher on for Samuel & Graham.
  17. Whilst there has been progress in rebuilding the team into a mid-table prospect, as it was before our relegation season, I see little progress in regards to our style of play (still have no idea what this is) or building the squad itself to improve upon where we are. Our two big money signings are being kept out of the team by soon-to-be 35 year old DG and Dominic Samuel for goodness sake. It would be churlish to disregard the good TM has done during his time here, but I don't believe he has what it takes to push us beyond this point. My concern is that once our better players leave and/or retire that we are going to seriously pay the price for Mowbray's missteps in the transfer market and his inability to generate a consistent pattern of play.
  18. Much like Saturday a very poor first half with the only comfort being that we're only one behind. At the very least we need Rothwell and/or Holtby on the pitch to try and change things. That was a very disappointing first half from a team that looks demotivated and seemingly lacking ideas. Not sure why we've come into this game looking so disinterested after a good fightback at the weekend.
  19. I wouldn't normally root for Wigan but considering how they've been stitched up by their owners and the EFL I'm hoping they do stay up. Hull certainly don't deserve a place in the division next season - they have been absolutely pathetic during the second half of the season after selling off their best players during the January window.
  20. Just because somebody is honest doesn't mean everything they say should be lauded, though. If somebody told me that they honestly thought the world was flat I wouldn't applaud them just because they were being truthful with me, I'd disagree because it's nonsense. Time will tell whether chucking the season works out for Norwich or not. They'll obviously be better off financially for some time, but the Championship is far from easy to get out of even if you do have some cash behind you.
  21. Whilst Farke is correct about financial security, the idea that they went about the season the right way is laughable. Burnley and Sheff Utd have shown that with a smart plan in place smaller clubs with limited budgets can survive in the PL. It was obvious when Norwich went up that unless they changed their style of play they'd be coming straight back down, as they conceded the most goals of any Championship winners in over a decade. Failure to address that is a pretty big oversight and as a Norwich fan I wouldn't be very happy with these defeatist comments from a manager who clearly did not put the right strategy in place to give the club the best chance of avoiding relegation.
  22. Better players would be a start but we also need to bring in some aggressive lads who won't accept mediocrity. Until we have a few of those dotted around the team we're destined to be nearly-rans. Too many nice lads in the team at the moment who wouldn't say boo to a goose.
  23. I don't think it's anything to do with the training ground, it's just the mentality of the players we've brought in. They struggle to handle the pressure of being favourites but can deal with being the underdog - a team very much in the image of their manager.
  24. He had some questionable performances in League 1, but since his injury he seems to have been motivated to prove himself. Unfortunately his limits mean he isn't a top-half Championship player and never will be, but I'm sure TM will look upon his attitude favourably which may bode well for Samuel in terms of getting a new deal.
