  1. Leicester settled with a £3m fine some years back Leeds didn't fail FFP rules when promoted. They are part of a group of clubs suing Everton for their FFP losses at the moment
  2. Harrison 120k per week 😬 The Premier League is different. Some of those wages are astonishing
  3. He actually did quite a terrible job at managing the development of the stadium......... The ideas and the future opportunities are excellent; the actual construction and handling of that was such a disaster it is becoming one of those "how not to" lessons within the industry
  4. I'll be honest I did think the summary given by JH was a bit melodramatic myself.. I don't think at any time in that interview Broughton called Plymouth or Ipswich a big club The fact is that if Leicester and Leeds or Everton get relegated then there's two 'big clubs' relative to the Championship. Their spending power determines their size these days and they will gazump all below them Dems the facts
  5. It could be a bit of a madness that the one left to generate potential transfer funds is the coach!!! There would have to some level of compensation
  6. Problem is JDT is a former player, and a key player in one of their more successful sides. Think he won the UEFA Cup with them Kind of like Lampard with Chelsea That Slot seems like a right piece of work too. Didn't know much about him before this morning. Turns out he openly flaunted speaking to Feyenoord whilst still in charge of AZ and manufactured a move out of there. He's been doing the same with Spurs. Some may call his comments 'honest' but the more cynical would question his loyalty Imo an up and coming manager like him, who is clearly extremely ambitious, would be well advised to avoid Spurs but I guess his agent talking about his 'substantial pay rise' and him claiming he 'is free to talk to whoever I like' is only pointing towards him cashing in early doors. Tottenham ruin careers though...where's Nuno these days?
  7. Slot going to Spurs could be the worst thing to happen to Rovers this summer They are the only club that bothers me. I never believed JDT would go elsewhere; Feyenoord though, after his European exploits there as a player and recent qualification into the CL, might just be tempted to try and relive some former magic with their talismanic attacker Better hope Levy screws Slot up somehow
  8. You literally asked him the question of why he doesn't like Jones. You even said "out of interest" Why are you now asking him whether the reason he doesn't like him is relevant? Almost like you just enjoy disagreeing with him............
  9. Aaron Ramsey is one I'd like to take on loan. He's going to be a serious player
  10. I’ve played defensive midfield / centre back all of my playing career. Any coach will tell you that you listen to the keepers shout and if you don’t you be sure you hit Row Z People trying to put some blame on Pears for that Milwall goal are desperate to pin something else on him for this current Kaminski vs Pears debate The footage was clear. Pears shouted as loud as he could, was running onto the ball, and Pickering should have left him to clear it. The move would have been dead in the water from that point That goal was Pickerings fault
  11. Dom Hyam should be able to step into this role as a leader with no issue. With over 200 apps across all levels of the EFL you'd say he has enough experience to lead that defence Did like Ayala though. Always felt safer when defending a corner with him on the pitch
  12. I am sad to see Dack go. He was a charismatic player who always brought some excitement to the game. His ability to make a defender stop in their tracks before knocking it past them is a rarity in the days of speed, sideways passing and fancy flicks In the past 10 years I don't think we have had a player who has used his body as good as he did. It's a damn shame the injuries he faced I hope he comes back to Ewood one day to receive the applause and cheers he deserves. Say what you want about the league it was in but he delivered promotion for us; a rare moment of happiness in a decade of stagnation. The fans loved him, he obviously enjoyed his time here too, and losing a player like that hurts no matter what division we are playing in In the life of a football fan, unless you support the "Big 6", we will always have players at every level we admire wholeheartedly. At the end of the day Dack played over 150 games for us, scoring I believe 50 odd goals. 1 in 3 for an attacking midfielder is some return. He's a player I would always look back at fondly, and the semantics over legend or not I'll leave for others to argue
  13. It is only a handful of posters that constantly hound the bloke for his detailed opinion on every single subject Matty When they continue to hound him on it, despite him having already agreed on another thread, he has a right to be letting them know that they had already acknowledged it If people didn't constantly go at him on multiple threads we wouldn't be forced to wade through the Chaddy Roversfan show every now and then
  14. Stranger things have happened For what it's worth, I hope Kaminski isn't sold either. It is a clear downgrade presently I can't see us getting anything more than £2m for him, which definitely won't be added back into the budget, so what's the point?
  15. For some balance, Pears is 25. When Kaminski was 25 he was playing for a team I've never heard of: Kortrijk. I also think if Kaminski goes it will be due to budget reasons. They probably believe the job can be done just the same for cheaper, and would prefer the wage Kaminski expects to be used elsewhere in the squad. Such is the constraints with which we work under However, it is not outside of the realm of possibilities that Pears improves to the level Kaminski was playing at last / this year.
  16. Your quantity of points is a statistic. The fact we don't score enough goals is a statistic. You actually do need stats to show you that But, yep, it's all for morons isn't it 🙂
  17. I quite like Micah Richards with Carragher and Henry on CBS. They don't really talk about football, but it's a much more entertaining Champs League panel than the shite BT serve up! It is hosted by Kate Abdo who is a good laugh too
  18. England's test squad to face Ireland has been released. Criminal treatment of Ben Foakes, who is exceptional with the gloves and shown himself pretty handy with the bat too Meanwhile, Mr Knick-it-for-fun Crawley retains his spot I do despair. In the Ashes you need to be able to rely on your wicky and there's no better than Foakes in England. Drop Crawley, let Bairstow play as a batter and keep Foakes in. Has to be the way to go
  19. Martin Tyler has produced some great moments in the commentary box. His voice is a touch of nostalgia - remember him screaming “Gerrarddd” long before the Aguero moment I personally think that VAR and the sanitising of the game has ruined it for him. You can tell he is always waiting for the late call or the VAR check. And the game is far less dramatic for it - it stops you from getting lost in the moment. Most PL going fans that I have spoken to say the same When he goes it will be a sad moment in football. But every dog has its day and all that Personally, Peter Drury is my favourite commentator. The man is a poet
  20. Kaminski is by far the better goalkeeper. The only thing I can't tell is whether we improved in our passing from the back with Pears, or whether we had just improved on it anyway and it was coincidental Pears was there at the time I remember a couple of passes that Kaminski did which put the midfielder under pressure and we conceded. One to Travis sticks in my mind...think it was against PNE too! But it would be a moment of madness if we sell Kaminski and replace him with Pears. Pears should be happy to be our #2. He's decent back up but you'd back Kaminski to make the big saves over him. Although Pears has surprised me and if anything I'd be looking to get a couple of hundred thousand for him whilst his stock is relatively high and move on
  21. Players like Damien Duff made me fall in love with football and, more importantly, Rovers Players like Brereton showed me the importance of patience. I don't think I'd have had the same resolve back in 1997 When we speak of heroes of past generations, you can't go much wrong than the players we had for us in the 20 years preceding Venkys. The fact we are this far forward and giving limitless praise to a player who cost a relative fortune, had one good purple patch and then refused to sign a new contract shows us that the operation has sunk and it is like those 20 years did not exist I liked Brereton's character. To come back from the seasons he had shows it is there and by all accounts a good man in the dressing room. I don't think he deserves much more then a passing goodbye though. He hasn't achieved anything of record at Rovers and in 10 years will be faded memory. At least Danny Graham won us a promotion.
  22. Unfortunate season but what a game to end it. Squad is full of young talent so let’s hope we make better use of the summer transfer window A goal scorer and we make play offs comfortably here. My biggest fear is we lose Dack, Wharton, JRC and JDT this summer
  23. That bloke is weird. He is obsessed It is their time in the sun. Small victories and all that. In his comment section he's making out like the police are at his door every other week, telling him not to go to the ground Alright "Marlon", chill out
  24. Dolan ain't a bad player. He has contributed well this year. He isn't the answer to our problems though, but in the squad he's a relatively cheap and hard working second player
  25. Why? He is English.............. The first time I saw Phil Jones I remember thinking - "he will play for England"
