  1. I'd stay clear of St Andrews - it's about a 30 minute walk from the town centre, less if you decide to drink in Digbeth It would all depend on what you are looking for. The issue with Brum is that it is spread out. Broad Street is where you will find your Walkabout, Wetherspoons etc. It is also quite close to Brindley Place, where you'll find the Brasshouse, Malt House, Slug and Lettuce, All Bar One, Pitcher and Piano - them kind of venues. The Malt House is good to drink at when it's a sunny day as there's a nice bar overlooking the Venice of England's entry into the Gas Basin If you are coming out of New Street you'll be close to the Shakespear, Post Office, Bacchus Bar (bit of a quiet one that but quite interesting inside) Snow Hill side of Brum you'll have the Old Contemptibles and Good Intent - you are also close to Colmore Row, which has its cocktail bars and restaurants, and the Old Joint Stock pub which is a nice pub to visit. The building is brilliant The Wellington on Bennetts Hill is a nice pub too. Got a beer garden between the buildings that's always a nice spot to drink at If you decide to head straight into Digbeth and be closer to the ground then the best option is The Old Crown. Unsure what it is like on match day. There's also the Anchor and the Spotted Dog just outside of Drietend side of Digbeth
  2. That Utd game where Tevez got the last minute equalizer The Darwen End seemed way too full, but the whole ground was packed. Santa Cruz got a goal in the first half; Fergie gave the tap of the watch Friedel seemed unbeatable that game and then Tevez scored a flick on header. Made me feel sick to the stomach Other than that, the last game I got choked up was the England v Italy final and England v France
  3. Haaland is some player. He just gets goals and goals and goals Not the most skilful of players but that pace, power, aggression, height and desire…it’s just the perfect combination. He is a real “striker” - a centre forward that will be prolific no matter the style of football. A real joy to watch
  4. Flood gates opened now Could be 6 or 7
  5. That is a forum full of angry blokes Was quite an entertaining read really. They seem to think everybody hates them - classic snowflake behaviour I’ve never been arsed about either Sheffield club really. Big city, shite football teams. Kind of like Bristol really Decent night out though
  6. Markanday showing what others could see The calls to have him in the squad were premature. Does a few fancy flicks here and there, couple of stepovers, but has largely been anonymous Which is a shame as I was as excited as anybody when we signed him. £1m, Spurs wanted to keep him, banging them in at youth level. But not everything works out Hopefully he matures more next season and we get some return on him
  7. Roversfan asking Chaddy to stop pulling him up on things and scroll past his posts is a step in the right direction, if not hypocritical. Let's hope it works both ways 🤞 But Peteborough fans were never 'glad to get rid'. They just didn't think he was worth the circa £2m Well, shows what they know because he's been worth every penny In the modern age £2m is probably the going rate for a good squad player that can play a part in a promotion winning team Always maintained he was worth the money. If it is there to spend and you can get a player like Szmodics in then do it. Dack was never going to get a full season in and we needed a player able to step in and do a job. Last few weeks, after a period of adjustment, he's proven he is capable of doing that I would like to see more goals added to his game, but his tenacity and his acts in the build up play demonstrate his value
  8. Certainly not the best performance we have had but a fantastic 3pts all the same You really feared the worst after that Reading goal. In previous times we'd have folded like origami right there but we showed a grit and determination to get that goal and see the game out The red card is one of them. It was never a red card for Buckley against Boro, so things even themselves out. Think we'd have seen the game through anyway Szmodics ran his legs off out there today...AGAIN. The critical analysts told us he was a waste of money...seemingly of course...but he's worth every single penny we spent on him Carter looked accomplished again today. Love that boy actually - think he's my favourite of the academy lads coming through this year Pickering, JRC, Hyam - quietly do a job. A good back four really. Think Pears had a bad game with his distribution, and want to see the goal back, but also made a good save from a header in the 2nd half so fairly pleased Do believe we should have put that game to bed though. Our waste in front of goal nearly gave them a way back. It is such a predicament we are in. I actually think we look better collectively without Dack but you can't deny he'd have bagged them two chances that came to Brereton. Can you fit Dack, Szmodics, Gallagher, Brereton and Szmodics in the same team? Fantastic three points though, and that gap between us and the pack is looking very comforting going into FA Cup weekend!!
  9. Good job that little throw of the ball didn't hit Sorba Thomas' head eh........
  10. Some bad managers make good coaches We have personal experience of a man who fits that description very, very well.................................
  11. But this bloke spoke about tailoring the 'chronic performance' to an individual. Not all players will have the same sprints, change of directions, distance covered etc
  12. Buckley has been a big part of how we have played over the last month or so. Terrible to see him go Morton must replicate his first 60 v Leicester week in week out now. Do that, we have a chance
  13. Making sarcastic comments about others viewing your lots companies house filings, furthered with a point you could only come up with after viewing the Rovers’ account filings shows me that your obsession with us is now that engrained you don’t find it unusual Do you look at our accounts every year sweetheart? There must be nothing you don’t know about the Rovers Obsessed
  14. It is really easy to say with hindsight. We were second in the table On the 29th January 2022 Rovers were 2nd in the table. We were 3pts from 1st, 10 pts clear of 7th. And you have lads on here banging on about how they would have definitely sold the 2nd leading goal scorer in the league and our highest goal scorer Oh and our best starting central midfielder too Whatever man. You aren’t fooling everybody. They trusted the wrong man, Mowbray, with a gamble and he didn’t pay them back. No wonder he didn’t get a new contract offered. People who are looking at this realistically, without always wanting to be right, would admit that decision would have been incredibly difficult to make
  15. We haven’t performed well today Got caught out with the JRC shifting into the middle and turning it into a back three for their first goal. Dolan not tracking his man is criminal if we play like that Second goal was just mind blowing. How he won that header with three around him…. That’s football We all knew we were going to lose a game at some point. I won’t panic. This is Championship football and they are playing well lately Dolan to be subbed for Brereton and JRC for Brittain. Maybe bring Morton on for Szmodics and go a flat midfield three with three up top
  16. A loophole is used to circumvent rules or regulations Is it not what is needed or is it clever? The statement is contradictory They are breaking the rules of fair competition. With any luck it breaks this so-called “successful” model that Watford have. It isn’t the first time they have used their Udinese connections to their advantage
  17. Watford under investigation for the transfer of Kamara Bought for cheap, sold expensively to Udinese and loaned back for the year “circumvent FFP” we keep getting told. It does not work
  18. Stoke (A) = W Reading (H) = W B'ham (A) = W Norwich (H) = L H'field (A) = L Hull (H) = W Coventry (H) = L Nobbers (A) = L Dingles (H) = W Luton (H) = W Millwall (A) = L Another 18 pts on the board, to take us to 76 pts and a comfortable play off place
  19. By my understanding if you only survive one season in the Prem you only get 2 years of parachute payments
  20. Has it worked at Watford? Their best season in the past 10 years came under Javi Garcia - who was actually, miraculously, given a full season and a half. He was then sacked and they got relegated Since then I don't believe a single manager has lasted more than a full season and a yoyo affect has begun If they don't go up this year it will be the final year of parachute payments having only spent 1 season in the PL last year, which means a fire sale of some supremely talented players
  21. I agree in my opinion it is another lesson for people not writing off players too quickly. Plenty of talk has been had about him being a waste of money but looks like he’s really settled in both off and on the pitch
  22. There has to be a deadline at some point What is “immediately after”? 10 minutes, 1 hour? I have some sympathy in this respect Contracts are full of these terms: best endeavours, so far as is reasonably practical, reasonably foreseeable etc etc The EFL at least gave guidance on the 15 minutes
