  1. But he’s persevering with Morton in his bad spell. Buckley wasn’t afford that opportunity by JDT And Buckley is the better player imo
  2. It’s pointless talking to you about Buckley You have nowt good to say. Just spam every match thread with bs about the lad We look better with him in midfield than without him And today he hasn’t been awful like people have said. He’s made some good passes, won the ball back but he isn’t helped with the lad he has next to him
  3. Morton is in a stinking run of form The fact he blocked Buckley from playing early doors this season is shocking Buckley is twice the player Morton is at this moment. We need to end the Morton experiment and get Buckley a battler in next to him.
  4. Shock from you Buckley has made some great forward passes Morton less so
  5. This is a bit mad I think we have played the better football. Some good passing in and around the box Been a couple of moments between TK and the centre halves, but other than that it seems organised and controlled We deserves that goal Morton simply has to stop giving the ball away in bad positions. And Kaminski got away with another one too. Gallagher has been our worst player. Take him off the pitch and we’d look better if you ask me - very poor today so far
  6. Nah they’re blue noses and proud of it Might have started as ribbing but they’ve took it on board and ran with it Bluenose and proud is a common phrase you hear around Brum
  7. You are a brave man you j*b The volume of sarcastic posts this is going to produce if it doesn’t come in. You can see them now “was only last week we had the lad from Juventus signing on the dotted line” Fair play
  8. I think Kaminski was a good signing. Can’t say I’d heard of him! Dack is another good one - I hadn’t heard much of him And let’s be honest, had we not had dickhead owners and managed to flip BBD for 15-20m it would have been a good bit of business Adam Armstrong was a good bit of business, but you could see that coming I think they’re doing okay, but we could do better in getting targets from abroad a la Tommy K But “never” is a big word
  9. No one cares about Porteous Every club, in every window, will be linked with players they don't land It is not a damning indictment of the clubs' ability to get deals done, it is a damning indictment of the insatiable thirst for clicks and site traffic stemming from the 24/7 media industry Once again the player we acquired was not spoken about once I love the to'ing and fro'ing about should we sign, shouldn't we, is he any good, can he better us. Love it. Keeps you interested. But only a downright idiot would be foolish enough to think we 'missed out' on every single player name dropped or linked in the media The truth will be somewhere in the middle. Some we may have missed, some we may have enquired once and moved on immediately, some we were never in for at all
  10. We have needed a winger who can take his man on and get the ball in the box It’s just a bit stale up top. The lad might change This next part isn’t aimed at you Rev, but you get the impression a few take the highly critical route for the sake of it. If he doesn’t succeed it is an easy told you so, if he does then it’s easy to say “well I obviously wanted him to succeed” Its a no lose situation This “pacy winger” that has often been the buzzword has arrived, albeit for a short loan, so let’s just see how the lad gets on
  11. Each to their own I suppose There's not a lot of players at this level who are a patch on him. He's an excellent footballer. Unfortunately, deals like him do not come across every day, and in reality you are looking at minimum £5m + to even get closes to a player of Dack's intelligence and ability these days
  12. Szmodics is a good squad player In any promotion team you need players like that - ones you can trust to do a job He's got a couple of goals for us, won us points along the way, and comes on and closes out games very well With Dack back I am more than happy to see Szmodics as a replacement for that position / the CM role People moan at the money for him, and I do agree a better central midfielder is needed more, but that added depth will come at a costs At 27 we have a good 3 years out of him for ~£2m and he seems like a damn good lad and a good player at this level. I think he's a good signing, if not exactly what we need to bring us to that next level, but not every signing will be We are building on a team that was ravaged by mismanagement of the footballing side of things for years. Szmodics is a piece of a jigsaw, like any squad
  13. Any way of sorting Revs posts out? Nowt spiteful to you Rev, but keep thinking my bloody phone has crashed
  14. How can it be factual when it is your opinion? You think way too highly of yourself You said GB's inability to close a deal is frightening but he's 'closed' half a dozen deals in his limited time at the club It looks like he is fishing in the right ponds too. A player that Watford are after and a loan signing that is agreed, pending Brighton's decision on whether he remains a PL squad player or gets time in the Championship. Two decent targets if you ask me Yet again you are talking nonsense
  15. You are always on the wind up, that much is clear I am beginning to think you are a parody
  16. It isn’t wrong Mercer has peddled some genuinely horrendous ideas on here the last week or so. Assuming his “friends” think the same then we are better of sticking with Waggott And that’s saying something
  17. Is this a question or have you heard something? 😂 It would be a great signing if you ask me. Suspect it would be loan though
  18. Give over. Once people realise we are trying to get rid of Brereton, with one year left, the offers immediately go down. £8m has always been a laughing stock. And who would you have replaced Brereton this year with the funds we have? You lose 20 goals from last year and are left with x millions to replace him, after being in the job for days Let's just say I am glad GB is our director of football and not you. I don't disagree there's a lot of bullshit happening at Ewood but you have this spectacular ability to ignore the cause: Venkys. Broughton has had 6 months to work with owners who are difficult, disinterested and distant. And here you are making out like this bloke, who has worked in football for decades, is out of his depth. I know you try and pass it off as an informed opinion but the fact is it is just silly and knee jerk Any director of football needs a couple of windows to be able to build the team. It is Venky level of stupid to be looking to move the DoF on after 6 months and not even one full window. So congratulations on entering that esteemed club
  19. What evidence? It isn't Broughton's fault our highest priced asset will leave on a free. He inherited that. The bloke has had about 6 months in a job, and not even a full transfer window, and here you are saying he is a man out of his depth on "evidence"? If he ain't got a pot to piss in it isn't his fault. Not yet, anyway. Like any man you need time. Unless you have millions to throw at it a DOF isn't going to get immediate results in less than 6 months Tiresome
  20. Are the goals smaller in league one or something?
  21. That's a matter for debate Rothwell's last season with us was an outlier to his usual performances. Quite regularly he had returns of 2/3 goals and similar in assists. His 10+ assists last year was unusual for him Szmodics, although typically playing further forward has contributed to far more goals throughout his playing career. At the same age Szmodics has 3x as many goals as Rothwell And let's not forget that Rothwell played much further forward for most of his time at Rovers Sammie's goal vs Hull gave us the three pts in a tricky fixture To be fair I am going to give him more time before I start saying he's definitely not as good as Rothwell. Sammie's having a better first season than Rothwell had for us. It took Rothwell 3 years before he found some consistency, and almost as soon as it began it ended, which culminated in pissing off players and supporters alike with an uncaring attitude Rothwell could get you off your seat on occasion, on others he would frustrate beyond all belief. I don't see much in either of them at present, at least not enough to draw a definite conclusion like this
  22. Rothwell flattered to deceive, that's for sure When under the cosh I bet he's a nightmare to play with. He didn't get back often enough. And his head dropped from January onwards which raises serious questions over his teamwork Then there's the rumours of the problems that he caused in the dressing room, with players increasingly frustrated with his attitude. Even if you are ultra sceptical over dressing room talk his performances on the pitch post-January showed his lack of endeavour for Rovers' success But this season there's also been times when we've missed his direct running. Problem is in his years here it came too few and far between. I can see the pros and cons of a Rothwell, who I consider a bit of a luxury player, but nevertheless his attitude has tipped me into the camp of him being one to avoid
  23. He deserves it Klopp and Liverpool obviously see something in the lad. This season will be massive for his development. I wouldn’t be surprised to see him loaned to either a lower league Prem club or top foreign league next season either
