He came on at half time vs West Ham and did well, even scoring the winning penalty Loaning him out to League 1 is a far cry away from putting him in the same bracket as Pears and Hirst. Garrett deserves far more than that - being a 19 year old who has shown more than either of them two have in his handful appearances at senior football Garrett has also shown a lot in youth level football for Rovers, unlike Hirst or Markanday It just seems odd that you call repeatedly for Markanday, despite how consistently poor he’s been at all levels for Rovers this year, but say you don’t want a token appearance for a home grown lad that’s shown far more at all levels!! If we talk about weakening the team then on current form out of the two it is Markanday who weakens the team more than Garrett But then you do have form for rubbishing our young lads early on. I suppose you have to judge the young lads after a series of performances. Far too many fans say they aren't ready or poor players from a couple of 10 minute cameos. I would like to see Harlock or Garrett get a 4 or 5 match run in midfield playing 60+ minutes If you watched Morton for the first time vs Norwich you'd say he definitely isn't ready. The boy was poor. But he's also had some excellent performances for us too The one thing Morton does give is a good set piece delivery

Bellingham has been our stand out central midfielder, box to box, plays an entirely different role to Foden But putting that aside, Bellingham's been one of our best players at this tournament, so the idea of dropping him to squeeze Foden into a position he doesn't suit much seems an odd one This is a team game

I actually think Sterling is one of the best players in this squad He may not be the best at club level, but for England his performances over the past 3 years have been sensational He works off Kane and is always in the right place at the right time - he may not start, but I think we will at least see him The only certainty for me is that Grealish or Maddison won't start; Grealish because Southgate sees him as a 'closer' and Maddison because he's not fit.
