  4. Shame we had to let Speedie go as part of the Shearer deal…
  5. I agree with you on Warhurst and I think Sutton was equally versatile. He was even a county-standard cricketer!

  7. Indeed. We used to think Vince O'Keefe was a bit of a liability but he's a better keeper than those four put together. As evidenced at Wembley in 1987.
  8. I loved Tony Field but hard to leave Garner out and Field only played for us in the third tier. I swithered over Terry Gennoe instead of Sir Roger for the same reason.
  9. I struggled to leave out Steve Archibald tbh but in truth he was never a true lower league player. Moran, Cowans and Speedie did at least sign permanent Rovers contracts, even though they belonged in the top flight too. Edit: I also completely forgot about Scottie Sellars! He would probably edge out Waggy tbf.
  10. I started going to the Rovers in the very early 70s so missed the likes of Duggie and Ronnie. I'm gonna be greedy and pick two teams, the first one a lower league Rovers best-ever and the second one from the Premier League era. Lower league: Sir Roger Jones Chris Price Kevin Moran Derek Fazackerley Kevin Hird Noel Brotherston Simon Barker Gordon Cowans Dave Wagstaffe Simon Garner David Speedie Premier League: Brad Friedel Henning Berg Colin Hendry Ryan Nelsen Graeme Le Saux David Bentley Tugay David Batty Damian Duff Alan Shearer Craig Bellamy

  13. There are too many speed merchants in the men's game who would kill you on a counter. Even Kargbo would be lethal in that scenario.

  15. This Indian pair have dug in well. It’s very nicely poised still and I’m expecting a close finish tomorrow evening.

  17. Not a 'gig' as such but I went to see the musical 'Just For One Day'. Its based on the whole Band Aid/Live Aid thing and it is amazing. The portrayal of Margaret Thatcher is comedic genius. If you get a chance to go, grab it with both hands.
