Really poor

Seems gaffers really like Gallys work ethic and willingness to track back. It’s hard for us to over look just how poor his technical ability is…but it’s often better for the team to have a less skilled player committed to the system than a skilled player that doesn’t want to accept their defensive roles.

He missed loads of chances down the stretch, but the whole side did. Fucking Gally wiffed a sitter to secure points. A chance my 6 year old could have finished. JRC had a few chances too. Buckley was by far our most effective central player after Rothwell quit in January. Sure he didn’t finish the chances he should have but he created far more than anyone else after the window closed.

It’s worrying how thin we are at back atm. No senior CB, Edun is hardly a serviceable left back, jrc at right back? The squad needs a lot of improvement but there’s at least serviceable alternatives in the middle and up top.

Very interested to see who the 18 are. If for no other reason to nip the Dack rumors now, I’d go with. Kaminski Brittain Ayala S.Wharton Pickering Travis Buckley Hedges Dack Brereton Diaz Vale Subs:- Pears, Phillips, Edun, Morton, Gallagher, Dolan, Szmodics to be honest in rather Markanday than Gallagher but I know that’s never going to happen. Szmodics on for Dack or Vale at half. I also think Edun only gets a place out of necessary cover. I think he’s the weakest of the non CB options. With Morton here he’s only cover for left back

Do we even have a reserve CB for this weekend? If Phillips is indeed off to Spurs who do we have behind Ayala and Wharton?

I’m not so certain Dacks lack of involvement is as meaningful as it’s made out to be. He could only play 60 min against against a league one side. He’s certainly not fit for more than 45 min of championship football. With that in mind he was never in contention to start. Maybe a 30 min cameo but with the way the game played out, no changes were necessary. QPR didn’t have a shot on goal and never looked like scoring. No need to change it just to change it. As bad as the front 4 were, and change bringing in a not fit player could have caused more problems. Had we conceded, not scored or had we needed more in the attack im sure Dack would have been brought on. As much quality as he likely still has a path to playing as none of the front 4 impressed. He’ll get his chance and like others will need to take it. The question is does he still have it in him to do so. He’s only started 7 matches in 2.5 years and let’s face it, he wasn’t the most fit of players before his injuries. Incredible vision and ability but pace and fitness was never hes top attributes.

Vale struggled to find his way into the game. But that wasn’t entirely his fault. Pickering started sharp but after 15 min his passing was off the mark. Hedges found space but wasn’t able to connect with Vale or anyone really as he mostly have gave the ball away. Vale has to figure out how to get more involved than he was yesterday. Gally on the other hand is a complete donkey with the ball. Works hard, tackles back but by god is his touch poor. of the front 4 that started I assume none will be regular staples of the starting XI after the window. BBD will be gone, Dack or Dolan for Hedges and new faces for Gally and Vale.
