  1. Now i may be one of the minority that doesnt mind your constant posts on this matter, but if you think the Walkers donating all their money would lead us to the top 4 for a prolonged period of time your taking the mickey. More investment may be necessary to hold onto our position as top town club in the future, something i think is a much more achievable goal. If you think some mega rich businessmans sees a pot of gold in a small northern town club your completely deluded - we simply can't compete with big city attractions.
  2. im not sure if your being sarcastic but of course the low numbers released are planned - the diamond industry has been doing this for over a hundred years, its nothing new!
  3. my post is very accurate! what i am not sure of is whether he left after telling them to shove it or accepting a position, hence the careful wording! And Ladbrokes arent taking any more bets on it according to my mate that has just finished his shift at William Hill. Skybet closed it but have reopened it now at 1/2. Read into that what you will - i'd just say i think an announcement will be made soon. Im not putting my money anywhere mind!
  4. Roy Keane seen leaving Goodison Park this morning according to Irish radio, betting suspended at Ladbrokes and two other bookies apparently.
  5. Uli Hoeness was asked by German tv yesterday if Keanes leaving meant Ballacks departure to Man Yoo was imminent, Hoeness said he was sure Ballack would not be Keanes replacement. When the interviewer then asked if Ballack was going to Real, Hoeness replied 'no comment'
  6. I remember them signing, season after the Premiershiop win. Work it out from that!
  7. Portugal is actually one of the sides i thought of as an English underestimation, but other than that havent you had quite a few 'difficult' games in the first two matchs of those competitions, leaving a lot of catching up work?
  8. If you look at the friendlies that have all included two teams from England, Holland, Germany, France and Argentina in the past year or two i would say England come out as having performed the best. Englands problem will be, as ever in major tournaments, against teams they underestimate. They are lucky the greeks, danes and norweigens are not there. Germany have to rely on the extra boost of home support and Jurgens jungs (Mertesacker, Huth, Schweinsteiger, Podolski, Deisler) coming good as he has promised. We were the better side against France though, although Trezugeut should have beaten Lehmann (also known as liabilitymann) Both the french and dutch teams seem to be full of amazing talent but show little in the way of end results. The dutch have some wonderful players in their squad (just who do you play up front???) and i can't understand whats going wrong - although they have had a sven-like approach to some recent friendlies. I havent seen much of the italians, although they did look good in the highlights against the dutch, better than England or Germany did anyway (although Robben, who was the only reason they got the draw against Germany, didnt play against Italy, neither did horseface), again i havent seen much of the spaniards. oh, and philip, i certainly wont be hoping for that draw in the last 16!
  9. Unless your wearing the away clubs shirt you can always use the power of denial though. Has worked for me many times!
  10. and easily the best to go and watch a game in in terms of value for money.
  11. You can, but theyve already been to Germany once this year.
  12. Hes not playing that regularly due to injury, but your damn right about the Bayern midfield- better than even chelsea have got.
  13. clearly thats not in his mind Chesh, he has already decided he wants out.
  14. also: "Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink robbed Ferdinand for the second goal... I have seen that happen to Rio before. It is poor defending2 Analysing the first goal United condeded against Middlesbrough, when Edwin Van der Sar let slip a 30-yard shot... "He should have saved that. That was saveable" "The players have been asked questions and they are just not coming up with the answers. "I am sick of having to say it and they are sick of listening to me." "These guys thought getting new contracts was the best day of their careers." "They think they have made it. They haven't." On the penalty Richardson gave away.... "He is a lazy defender who deserved to get punished.. he wasn't doing his job"
  15. Ive noticed that a lot more play five a side which as a lanky centre half (much like Carlton Palmers style im told) i have a lot of difficulty with (the head hight rule kills me at 6,4!), but the asian kids all seem to be very small, fast and tricky. Im going to raise the name Ali Karimi again. If anyone can help with a middle eastern presence on the pitch, hes the man.
  16. had my fingers crossed for Donny away but it didnt seem to do any good.
  17. Population of leeds is bigger than that as well. Just had an argument with a leeds fan today about how passionate rovers supporters are/arent. Reminded him that our attendance didnt drop 15k and the local rugby leauges teams gate raise by 7k when we were relegated!
  18. Stilian Petrov? Not seen a massive amount of his game, but from what ive read...
  19. Some very interesting points raised here from a marketing perspective, its often the little things that count. The TV gantry idea is wonderful, I believe that would raise or stature amongst supporters of other clubs or those just beginning to gain an interest in football. I think one of the london clubs moved theirs for a season once when they were building so as not to show the ground up in front of the cameras. The draping of flags over empty areas is standard in Germany, especially ten years ago when a lot of the (older, many now demolished/updated) groundswere only half full, and some of the traditionally bigger clubs had been relegated. Elland Rd has probably the best and worst concourses i've seen premiership football at - The family stand is magnificent, the away corner is like a concrete car park stairwell.
  20. Im confident we can beat Arsenal at Highbury. Dont hold much hope of taking more than a point from the other games though.
  21. Think you get radio york wheras we get radio leeds....not that i would listen to either
  22. Hearts supporters reckon that Newcastle may be the reason Burley has left Hearts. They also reckon that Villa, Rangers, Everton and the Republic of Ireland want him too mind...
  23. How am i being naive to the point of stupidity? The problem is that all the 'won't somebody think of the children' brigade like yourself will not listen to anyone who has experience in the matter. The fact is, no-one wants to jack up in a dodgy back alley next to some old bins, no matter who or what they are. Personally as someone that uses drugs the ideal route would be decriminalisation. Drugs would then be more readily available, and at their cheapest. As mentioned, alcohol is not safe. Would i prefer my kids to be out drinking and smoking or taking drugs? I know the last place i would want to see them is falling out of a 'fun pub' at midnight after 15 pints of stella - and wheras i don't have any mates that do this sorta thing, i do know a few that blaze crack now and again, with no obvious addiction or side effects. Do you know how much nutmeg it takes to kill someone, btw? You would be shocked - and you keep that in a cupboard your kids can get to....
