You would have to think that they are making a go of it this season. Perhaps this spending is in part an attempt to get their better players from last season to hang on too. If they could keep Maupay, Watkins, Benrahma and Konza while spending a bit on some good players, you would have to think that they are well eqquipped to have a shot at promotion.

L1 striker with 22 goals in 41 last season - on a free. Decent age.
-
Hull are as well tbf lol. But still, if we're struggling for funds, would rather get this guy as a 2/3 rd choice striker and spend our money on GK and defence.

Preston linked - that's the end of that then.

Formation/tactics for next season
JacknOry replied to Bigdoggsteel's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
Perhaps it might effect the number of goals he gets - we dont really know, guess it depends on the movement of those in front of him but I would imagine his assists would increase though. Comes down to whats best for the team rather than individual numbers though, we're far two reliant on both Dack and Graham for goals. Teams basically know that if they stop Dack, they have done half the job. -

Not sure how somebody that is good at playing behind a front one would be worse off playing behind a front two? Surely the increased space he will have will further allow him to make his mark on matches. It wont happen anyway, we don't even have the numbers to adequately fill three CB spots right now (effectively at least and with enough depth behind them). -
opinion Rangers fan here

We've always had a good relationship with Rangers, glad to see them really on the up once more. Not sure they have enough this season to beat Celtic to the title but i wouldn't put it past them in the next few years. -
Well there is also this but not sure how credible: You'll have to click it as he goes on more about in a sequence of replies.

Exactly, while some will have qualms against the likes of Adam or Buttercup, at least they are training, trying to win contracts, keep in shape. Rodwell is still on damn holiday. Even if he did decide to sign on again, he has missed so much of the pre-season already and will be well behind others in the team now for a starting spot. What about this new style of play we're working on? Rodwell wont know much about it. Something tells me TM is keeping the door open as once again, its a fallback option for a would-be CB to replace losing out on Bauer. The guy doesn't have the passion for the game anymore - move on.

GK and CB massive priority. Then RB competition for Nyambe (not Bennett), then LB competition/upgrade for Bell (not Williams who would be better off as 3rd/4th choice CB). After that, possibly a more ready made striker. No more midfielders please unless we're getting rid of a couple (not Travis).

Fútbol, Le Foot, Voetbal, ποδόσφαιρο

After - funny that huh? -
Perhaps, perhaps not. Dont wanna bring up the Championship versus Scottish premier again but there really only is two teams in it. They can offer short-lived European competition though. More chance of being picked up by a PL team if you're playing int he CHampionship. I actually heard that he is being sold because they offered him a new contract but he wants more money - might be one to avoid purely on that basis.

Anyone see the Messi sending off the other day - bit of a joke tbh. -
Oh I agree with you, just thought the example you used could have been better. United one of the biggest clubs int eh world, Liverpool not so far behind and City with billions and the worlds best manager. Dont think they need any help attracting players at all. Also, apart from perhaps Chelsea in the past, the London clubs such as SPurs and Arsenal have really not had much success - so I doubt London would be a reason a player would choose them over the three northern teams you mentioned. Completely agree with the rest though - Brentfords scouting, coaching and player development is as good as you could probably get in his division. They bring in players, polish them up and sell them on down the line with a massive markup. Latest one coming on top of Raya and Jannsen? Mathias Jensen from Celta Vigo is about to sign for them apparently.

That might be because they are United, City and Liverpool.

Formation/tactics for next season
JacknOry replied to Bigdoggsteel's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
Agreed, while the 3-5-2 lineup looks fairly good on paper (should we get the required new players in) our fullbacks in general are not good enough and we dont have much strength in depth in those positions although I do feel Bell would be better as a wingback. We also barely have enough CBs for two positions let alone three and without much backup behind them either. The 4-3-3 looks a little unbalanced there and would rather see Johnson and Downing/Travis more central than wide with the front three being wider apart as well. Unfortunately, this formation doesn't suit Dack at all. Armstrong and Rothwell could provide the pace and with that this formation requires which would leave Dack either being some kind of false 9 or DG coming in but I feel he lacks the pace for that setup. That leaves 4-2-3-1 and 4-4-2, the two formations our personnel probably suits the best. I would prefer the former with this fabled new passing/possession game that we're apparently aiming towards. This would mean no more Smallwood and Evans and hopefully Travis and Johnson instead providing a little bit more creativity and forward thinking into our game rather than just two defensive midfielders shielding a back four (ironically not providing much protection considering our goals against column). -
Spent about 13 million this window already assuming Pontuss passes his medical. Brought in 35 million so far in sales. Lots of links for many of their players too, so it would be safe to say that just one of Maupay, Konza, Benrahma, Watkins going would put them even further in the positive. They also made a net profit of 9 million in transfers last season. Safe to say they can afford a bit of spending right now.

I am not going to jump on this blame the GK coach bandwagon - for a bit of context, check out Tyson Fury's trainer Ben Davison who is just 26-years old and is earning rave reviews from everyone in boxing for what he is achieving. He had been nothing more than a amateur boxer previously.

If you could have picked any CB in the Championship to get at a knock down fee - it probably would have been him for sure. The big and ugly defender we desperately need. Leeds captain, so would've bring much needed leadership to our ranks and is a bit of nasty twat on the pitch that hates losing (as him trying to stop that Villa goal showed). Combine all that with the following stats and you couldnt find anyone more perfect at just 4 million to help our defence: Statistical beast when compared to other @SkyBetChamp defenders, per 90 minutes. 2.61 tackles won (1st) 9.3 total duels won (2nd) 2.48 interceptions (3rd) 53.0 accurate passes (5th)

So Pontus Jannsen has just signed for Brentford - baffling really that not only were we not seemingly all over that (they turned down 12 million for him in January, was in team of the season) but not many others were either. Seems a number of clubs dont have the funds (FFP?) this season? Other rumors, Kemar Roofe is being pushed out at Elland Road as well, would he be a better bet for 5 million?

Very nice - love the logo and the addition of a bit more red into the theme. -

Exactly, not even had a full season in the championship yet. We wont get that much for him if they sell him now. Not as much as we would a couple f years down the line once he proves himself to be one of the best in the division in his position.

We're stocked in midfield because we keep buying 30+ year olds.
