  1. It’s worth saying that I very much doubt Obafemi will be costing us 5m. This will be a deal which will have been massively discounted as part of the Arma negotiations, though officially it will be labelled as ‘completely separate’ to avoid issue with Newcastle’s sell on fee.
  2. This more sounds like a young player struggling to find consistency in the prem than an issue with his professionalism.
  3. I believe their option to buy was around that figure however after that option was declined their were negotiations between the two clubs for a signicantly lower fee around 6m that were unsuccessful. My pal believes he’ll end up at Brom under his old manager
  4. With the Armstrong deal almost wrapped up we’re finally now able to focus on incomings. First and foremost contracts need to be extended, there is no doubt about that, though I do believe players such as Rothwell and Nyambe are unlikely to sign irrelevant of what we offer them. We need a couple of loans, no doubt, though I completely dispute the idea that we should bring in 5. A back up left back (lad from leeds) a central midfielder (Doyle) and a winger (lad from Brighton) are essential to filling out the squad, improving competition and providing us with some cover. I know some people want a centre half, however I’d argue that Lenihan, Ayala, Wharton, Carter, Magloire provide us with the cover and quality needed. A young CB from a prem team isn’t going to improve that and will only block the pathway of our younger players. In terms of permanent additions we obvs need a striker to replace Arma. For me there are 3 players currently available/realistic in the market that would really please me to see come in. 1. Obafemi - probably the most realistic due to our connections with Southampton, being into his final year of his deal and his potential role in the Armstrong negotiations. Quick, strong, young and has a decent record in the prem when you look at his actual minutes. Rumoured 5m fee although could work out cheaper if that fee has been reduced in Arma negotiations. For that reason could be the best value for money option. 2. Idah - probably the most unlikely. Really highly thought of at Norwich with a rumoured value of 5m. Norwich fans believe he has a big future and want to keep him though there are doubts over how many minutes he would get with Pukki ahead of him. Could only seeing it being a loan which doesn’t suit us. 3. Dike - Abit of a wildcard, but the one who would excite me the most out of the lot. Excellent on loan at Barnsley last season, scored goals but was also credited for his power and all round play. People say we look a better overall team without Arma leading the line, well this lad would give us a chance to really improve on that. I think it’s one of the few players who would actually make us a more overall competitive team. Barnsley rumoured to be priced out of a 5-6m move by Orlando. Not sure if we could pay that? Interestingly I did hear last weekend from a pal of mine who follows football in the US very closely that we had asked about him earlier in the window. Have no clue how reliable that is. With the Arma money now coming in that might be one to keep an eye on. Let’s see what happens in the next couple of weeks. What we need to avoid is making loans signings for the sake of filling up the squad. Let’s give our promising academy players a chance in a season where we are going to probably end up midtable whatever we end up doing. Contracts have to be priority either way.
  5. Rumours that this deal is unofficially 12m + 3m add ons AND Obafemi. Officially it is a straight cash deal. Sound like Southampton may ‘separately’ give us Obafemi at a cut price fee so that we avoid it being added to the fee due to Newcastle.
  6. Personally I think he’ll do well. He can score from anywhere and has got pace to burn. Got to remember he’s only 24.
  7. Haven’t got a clue if this guy is any good. We really needed a winger tho. Has to be said I’m really not a fan of just using loans to fill out the squad. We have decent enough academy players to do that.
  8. HAS to be a perm. If it’s 15m-17m plus Obafemi then we’ve pulled a blinder.
  9. Anything below 15m is really poor. Hoping for at least 18m. Wouldn’t mind obafemi being included.
  10. Play the kids and see how they get on. Might be an important indicator of who can step up this season and be counted on. Kaminski pike Carter magloire cirino Garret Davenport Chapman butterworth Dolan mcbride
  11. Excellent half. Midfield has been best I’ve seen it in a long time. Winning everything.
  12. I’m not going to lie, as disruptive as venkys have been for the club, this message was particularly important and warming to hear. I think throughout the last couple of years venkys have shown tremendous backing towards the club, with big signings and particularly a very competitive budget last season during the pandemic showing their commitment to Rovers. As much as fans won’t want to hear this, we need them, their support and their willingness to fund the club. I have been extremely worried recently, with the back room staff exodus, lack of signings and lack of word from Venkys that we may of got to a point where they have given up. And that could of meant real trouble for us. However from this letter it is evident their engagement is still their, along with a surprising desire to attend a game this season. That would be a big step in mending the owner-fan base relationship. Let me be clear, I’am no fan of venkys. Nor are they free of blame for the state of the club right now (even though I think clesrly Waggot and TM derserve a lot of attention for where we are currently at). But this message, with the current context of the club, is relieving to hear.
  13. Being linked to nial Huggins of leeds United. Under 23 player - left back. Would rather give cicinno(?) a chance personally.

  15. Norwich media sources have confirmed there’s been no bid for Adam Armstrong, nor has idah been offered as he’s a player firmly in their plans. Cheers Nixon for selling us a dream of a deal. My bet is that Southampton will eventually sign him for about 15m. Anything less than 20 (or 15m plus obafemi or Idah on a perm) would be dissapointing.
  16. Just saying - if you read the Norwich fan forums - they don’t actually want the deal to happen if it means losing Idah on a perm, they really rate him. Would take 15m plus Idah any day
  17. Haven’t heard much about Idah but having done some reasons he sounds like a really shrewd piece of buisness if we can get him. Norwich fans perplexed about the idea of losing him on loan let alone on a perm. Sadly if this deal turns out to be a loan then the whole perception changes.
  18. From what it sounds like the ings deal to Aston Villa has completely opened this up. Obviously it has pushed Southampton into a move, which in turn has forced clubs like palace and Norwich who were maybe hoping for a bargain near the end of the window into action. What id be happy with is 15-20m plus obafemi or preferably Idah on a PERM deal.
  19. Kaminski nymabe Lenihan Carter Pickering Buckey Travis Rothwell Dolan Arma Diaz or Nymabe Carter Lenihan Magloire Pickering Buckley Travis Rothwell Arma Diaz These are the only two line ups that make sense IMO based of performances and match time during pre season. Don’t lose faith in the youngsters if they struggle at first, it will take them a couple of games to adjust to this level.
  20. Personally, I have accepted our fate. The club needs a complete refresh from top to bottom, and for me that can only start with both Waggot and TM heading out the door. At this point I would rather not spend any money, have a season of struggle, gamble that we have enough to stay up (which I believe we will based on the starting 11 we can field) and provide our finances with a break. Furthermore this route will provide opportunities for our academy players to be blood through an hopefully establish themselves as key members of the squad. I think at the end of the season when his contract is up TM will go, and hopefully Waggot will follow. I half wonder if that’s why no funds are currently being provided, with Venkys perhaps losing their confidence in TM and his ability to spend, with them instead putting a halt to the spending for a season so next season, under a new manager, they can loosen things up again.
  21. Can I just ask, if your currently out of the UK for this game can you still buy a one off match pass for the game? Or does it have to be a season pass?
  22. Personally I’d quite like us to stick with the 3 at the back. It’s a formation which needs practice and patience though, however once got right it can work extremely well. Personally would quite like to see JRC in that wide right role when he’s back from injury, with nyambe as the right centre back. Him and magloire sweeping on the outside of Lenihan could be extremely effective.
  23. He posted an Instagram story explained his absence which I would suggest clears him from being the player on the move. Plus TM loves him. it’ll be Rothwell or chapman imo.
  24. A couple of seasons ago they were raving about him. In recent years that club as a whole has been in decline and sometimes players can see there standards dragged down with it. He’s a proven championship player who probably just needs that change of scene to get up and running again.
