This Saturday's Football fix!!!!
Rogerb replied to Lancashire lad's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
Was around 1973/74 when we played Altrincham in the cup 0-0 at Ewood and 2-0 to Rovers in the replay with goals from Don Martin and Kit Napier if I remember right. It was an afternoon midweek game the replay. I was at school in Altrincham then and the entire school shut early so all who wanted could go to the game. Had a lot of ribbing after the first game those goals shut em up -
Shelvey was absent for Newcastle yesterday having been to see a specialist in Barcelona midweek about a long standing thigh injury so that may not happen at the mo

Bolton allegedly also owe money to Norwich which has not been paid

Stood on the vertigo inducing back row Y last night it was a joy to watch Lewis's performance. With an almost aerial view his ability to find space to receive a ball, his apparent time on the ball and ability to come away with the ball when he had no right to were particularly notable. He did tire in the last ten minutes which resulted in increasing errors and the referree bailed him out for the awful crossfield pass which offered a break for the toon. That was however an exception.

South Yorkshire police requesting Sheffield derby no longer takes place at a weekend but as a night fixture on a weekday . Source BBC news. This will be giving ideas to lancs.

Alan Nixon on radio lancs tonight reckons Ben's best position is as a right sided forward because he has pace and two good feet!!!!

Did Chris Brown have any ruled out for offside though?

More lazy reporting article has him signing from us! -
Other than lump it forward to Danny Graham I am at a loss as to what style of play Mowbray has!
-
Think that was the lad from Walsall who went to Bolton. Outzemer or something like that. Not pulling up many trees there.

Bobby Svarc was signed by Jim Smith from Colchester United where Jim had been manager he had also signed Bobby from Boston United where Jim was manager before taking the Colchester job. Bobby fitted an alarm for me in the middle eighties and always reckoned Jim Smith had saved his career at Boston. He lived on Revidge for many years. Lovely bloke Bobby always happy to talk football.

Smallwood got the reducer in on Buendia early doors -
Depends how quickly he can develop that upper body strength. If you look at how Nyambe has bulked up in the last two years Ben is still growing at 19 could be a monster in two years time.

Level 7 is in the gods

Got my Newcastle ticket level 7. Northern on strike all Saturday's in January.
-
In a two year period there has been generally one that has made the step up to the first team the most recent examples being Lenihan, Nyambe and Raya these having come through in say the last four / five years. So on that basis we are perhaps ahead of par. Prior to that would be Handley, Jones Henley and Jake Kean some more successful than others.
-
There is only Raya who Mowbray has promoted to the first team on a permanent basis in his tenure. 18 months ago seem to recall Mowbray questioning the whole affordability of the academy.
-
I suspect this isn't the full wack payable in January but is probably structured like the Rhodes deal with 2Million every twelve months over the length of the contract however that initial figure and subsequent payments should have gone on improving the first eleven. Seem to recall Mowbray saying in the broadcast of the fans forum that the ? was made available and he was encouraged to spend it. Thought at the time this seemed odd in view of previous statement from Mowbray about not spending all the budget because the right players were not available. Seems to have adopted a different approach on this one

With this survey being sent by the club to absentee fans could be Waggott preparing a defence when tasked later in the season on why he has failed to meet his attendance estimate. Not my fault Madame. We did a survey and they won't come back because of you! Most sane people know why attendance is down without needing a survey.
