  1. I hope ST sales will increase perceptibly. The known tends to do that. Folks will get on board with DoF & jdt, imo.
  2. “He’s here… and he’s perfect.” we will see how perfect, after Rovers first loss, lol 😂 Hes definitely got an Aryan look about him.
  3. I was very pleased to wake up here in Texas, and read the news… I am glad for the club, the players, and our fans who have loved it so long. I pray the next chapter is not only a winning one, but we can see “sustainable” progress. This is exciting, and I only hope this appointment goes a long way towards getting back some of our fans who had given up after a decade of Venky’s, to now see old dogs sometimes learn new tricks. I am glad you’re here, and that you all want to be here, Gregg Broughton, Jon Dahl Tomasson, Ben Rosen, & Remy Reijnierse!
  4. I’m just trying to have some positive regard for the guy- whoever he may be. If he wants us, after the first 8-10 guys either didn’t, or didn’t want our setup, he’s got to have some patience & stamina (or, maybe he just needs a regular paycheck). Wait & see…
  5. It’s starting to feel to me like, hey, the first guy who wants us, and is content to work for what Venky’s offer him, I’m going to get behind and support that guy.
  6. His connections have opened more options, AND the first round of candidates must’ve been viewed as deficient.
  7. Maybe Rovers get it right this time (how many times have we said that, the past dozen years!?)
  8. True… Troy QB’d three Super Bowl winners. Johnston was his fullback, and Irvin the best receiver in the league. Which goes to prove great football players don’t necessarily make great color commentators, or head coaches.
  9. This is exactly right. Romo is a brilliant guy, who had the misfortune to play for Jerry Jones (post- Jimmy Johnson) and some very mediocre Cowboys teams (& head coaches). Romo is statistically the best undrafted QB of all time. Our football coach at Stephen F. Austin State U., when I was there, later scouted & signed Romo for the Cowboys.
  10. I’ve thought the same thing about our U.S, NFL commentators. Guys like Tony Romo, Darryl Johnston, Tony Aikman & Michael Irvin (yes, I’m a Cowboy fan), know-it-all’s, none of these guys are head coaches, or ever will be.
  11. If it’s Monday, that gives us just one more weekend for mad speculation 😢
  12. It’s just going to set off another round of speculation and rancor when whoever is named. I get the feeling if it was Klopp we would all complain he didn’t win the Champions or PL this year and his Cup wins were PK affairs
  13. You must be on this side of the Atlantic; not many posts this time of night (10:40 cst). I really like a varied assortment of managerial candidates, not just the same ol’, tired, list of Championship & out of work PL has-beens. I still really like Pep Lijnders. I doubt anybody at our club gave him much thought, but he will get a gig whenever he leaves Klopp. Perhaps he gets Klopp’s job, when he leaves Liverpool. At any rate, Deila is a viable candidate. Ainsworth is a realistic one, I rate a bit higher than Big Ferg. I’ve repented of my earlier hand-wriggling in this thread, even giving up on Dyche, Carvalhal, & Farke. I am trying to stay positive, and hopeful with the search.
  14. Why not? Deila has conquered Scottish & American footie, why not make his mark at Blackburn Rovers.😄 maybe he could bring Castellanos & Magno with him
  15. Arbitro I wont disagree with your action, or anybody else. Support the club the way you see fit. I really don’t have a voice in the matter, as I live in Texas. I like to believe If I lived close to Ewood, I would be a diehard, and go no matter what. However, it’s the only Blackburn Rovers we will ever have. I don’t believe boycotts or any other action works against these owners. In the long run, it’s just money you’ve kept in your pocket and not given the billionaires. I will say this: If I lived closer and there were organized protests outside Ewood, I would be at every single one. Even to show up gameday, tailgate with my friends, but not go inside. I think if there were 3,000 or so supporters on gameday outside the park, wearing Rovers apparel, flying banners, etc, present in body & spirit, but don’t buy a ticket, it would send a huge message. My .02.
  16. Whatever happens, and whoever gets the jobs at Rovers, Blackpool & Burnley, there will be lots of second guessers afterwards. The winners/losers, we won’t know for sure for sometime. And, of the three clubs, Blackpool roster may be the most similar to its current state when the new season begins.
  17. I don’t want to look for it in the preceding 255 pages, but somebody said our manager will be named on June 6. So, hopefully, Monday is D-Day.
  18. I’d be deliriously happy with Freidel in DoF role, or any role with the club.
  19. If it’s Ainsworth, I think his zeal and love for Blackburn Rovers would shine through. He would be a beacon of light to players and fans alike. True, we may not win anymore than with Tony, but loving your club has to be better than the image of head in hands, shrug of shoulders, etc.
  20. Gav, you’re probably right. But, I’ve backed off my doom & gloom post of earlier. I have no reason to, I just wanna stay somewhat hopeful. There’s enough doom & gloom in this thread already 😆
  21. It sounds to me, that any decent candidate who could’ve come in and had a chance for success, and at his own reasonable terms, was shot down (Maybe they got the sense there was no money to work with, so why bother?) The players have to be aware of this, and wagging their heads. I am no prophet, but considering the last 12 years, there is not a chance we promote anytime soon. I’m not even sure we stay in the Championship after the upcoming season.
  22. I don’t know anything, but I think the chances of getting a great manager at our club, with this bunch running things, are slim and none, and Slim is here in Texas. We will get a slap-dick, who succeeded years ago at a Championship or League 1, or not at all. I think the odds of getting a young, up & comer with great ideas and personal magnetism, are 100 to 1. More likely we get more slack-jawed stares from some yokel in the mold of Mowbray.
