  1. To allow almost any player who you value to get within 12 months of an expired deal is criminal. Another reason for worry and doubt. Having 24 players all out in the same summer... that is simple mismanagement. Naymbe, Dack* and Rankin-Costello all need deals now... fucking yesterday even. Then you can take the likes of Rothwell, Evans, Bell, Holtby, Chapman and Williams, see if there is a market we can cash in now or decide if they are likely to be our plans, and extend them. But do one or the fucking other Tony, as all will have (some) value, and at the very least, if we ain't going to play them... save the wage at least and not spunk another £1.5m on next years versions of Smallwood, Leutwiler, Samuel and Hart again this year. Bennett we are stuck with as long as Mowbray is here... As captian and first choice, no less. Mulgrew we are stuck with - or paying off, and granted the rest are kids. Worrying.
  2. Bradley Johnson 5 years ago (Norwich) was probably the best CM in the whole of the Championship. £2m would be worth every penny for that player. Certainly the most impressive single game performance (I've seen in this division) ironically came from him at Ewood in 2015 when I think he scored a bit of a worldie in a 2-1 win for them back in the Bowyer days. **For the record, the best ever (visiting) Ewood performance will be either Vieira or Henry.**
  3. Pretty sure this would just be the absolute typical bog standard fail on Mowbrays part.
  4. Here's a thought Tony... let's not sell off our "star" younger players for peanuts again this summer, instead let's not keep giving long term contracts and extentions to L1 and past it players. Smallwood, Hart, Leutwiler and Samuel combined probably cost £1-1.5m in wages this past season... basically half of what we sold Raya for went to pay them 4 last year. Let that sink in. Mulgrew and his £20k a week will cost that much next season on his own, Evans, Johnson, Bennett and Downing* will cost around £3-4m next year in wages. But instead, lets sell Nyambe or Travis to cover those 5 players wages for a year.
  5. No matter what happens... at least this "summer" we have 6 less weeks of Mowbray bumbling and shit chatting to shift through, before the eventual disappointing conclusion.
  6. Should never have been given that additional 12 months. (Or this last month - Christ). Hate that he did, but can't really blame him for refusing to leave last summer and instead taking career defining money for one last year, to play in 2 Cup games. Doesn't explain why he wouldn't have wanted a loan though (same money). I still think Jason Lowe was better. Won't be remembered.
  7. All this talk of legends... and nobody has mentioned Shabani Nonda.
  8. Agree that Downing should not be brought back... not convinced he actually returned from lockdown. I reealise squad numbers don't mean diddly... But we do not have a #1, #5, #6, #10, #12 or #13. We also have Williams and Chapman on first 11 numbers. The squad is shite. We have about 5 players worthy of playing for Blackburn Rovers.
  9. Really? Sounds far to proactive for Tony...
  10. It's how he can say that players available on free transfer either "aren't good enough for the PL, which is where we want to be (lol), or not wanted by clubs in our divison" Yet he says that "Downing, Graham etc are wanted by us - despite having expired contracts, yet we haven't been promised our budget" and are two of the highest earners, so we cannot offer terms yet... Ever thought a shit ton of these free transfer players may also be free due to wanting to go to better (Bauer, Hoilett, McLaughlin), club have been relegated (Aribo, Ajayi, Olsson), players are too high earners for that team (Downing,), or are at PL clubs and want a chance to prove themselves by dropping down (Darlow). ... but loaning 17-20 year old Premier League players from a "Cat B/C Academy" proves they are amazing because they are employed by "X Premiership Team" Fuck of Tony
  11. I'd be concerned if anyone has a strong opinion that Mowbray going is a bad decision. It is the correct decision which will not happen. Does he deserve to go (yes), is it a risk (... grudgingly yes), should he go (YES). Bottom line is this has been a painfully dull, frustrating and uninspiring last 20 months as a Rovers supporter. Has there been some good performances and results (a few, yes), have we rivaled paint drying for entertainment/passion for 60-75% of his time in charge (yes), have we wasted a huge chunk of our transfer funds, been soft and naive in the market, and sold and/or marginalised better players we had (Raya, Nyambe, Graham) for no discerning reasons except for clear manager bias (yes). Do i think the only chance we have of avoiding a relegation dog fight next season, if Mowbray remains manager, is if 6-8 other teams all start on -12 points... yes. Time to go, YES. NO QUESTION.
  12. Thats it... we all love watching Rovers win. But this is a surefire reason why Mowbray needs gone. Walton too...
  13. 100%, though I wonder how many fans are in the same boat? I do want Luton to stay up (at the expense of Hull, Middlesbrough, Stoke, Birmingham, Wigan or Huddersfield) so i will be happy for a loss down there as long as it means they stay up. Mowbray is (infuriatingly, unfortunately and annoyingly) going nowhere.
  14. Like it. Would probably still play Tosin (if we have 10% hope of seeing him again next year). I think Chapman is DOA. Would look to play: Hilton Nyambe - Lenihan - Tosin - JRC Davenport - Travis Holtby - Rothwell - Armstrong Gallagher/Brereton Every player (Barring Tosin) under contract next season, needs to play and not classed as dead wood (unless they cost £5m+). Carter, Buckley, Butterworth filling and coming off the bench. Of course I believe we're more likely to see Downing, Mulgrew, Smallwood, Graham, Walton, Samuel, Bennett, Johnson and Hart. But either way, I actually don't care now. To be honest... i actually think the team I picked above would beat any of Mowbrays team selection 8 times out of 10 all season.
  15. I feel this is about the 50th time in 3 seasons I've said "I don't remember us play as shit" If make all 4 subs at half time. Bennett, Downing/JRC, Johnson, Samuel can all go. Get Rothwell, Holtby, Nyambe and Gallagher on. Abysmal
  16. Tony stood there chewing his gum during the entire drinks break... I feel motivated.
  17. What a fucking joke. I IFollow firstly and then out defending. Wonder where our right back was during that goal? Joke.
  18. I've been told from friend - who was told from within (a good 6-12 months ago mind you) that this was/is the plan exactly - that WBA stand with disability/VIP/media and hotel etc. Other plans mooted (apparently) were to turn the Darwen End into more of the showpiece side of Ewood (shop, bar, better decor). Mainly as you can see it from the road... also renovating and selling off the old primary school/carpark to include a Nandos/Subway/Petrol Station etc. Its not like we need the excess parking spaces. Takes longer to get out of Ewood nowadays with 11,000 fans then it did when we were getting 24,000-27,000 10 years ago.
  19. To be fair (this one occassion) it was an abysmal pass from Armstrong. Far to slow and behind him. Should have been in front of him to hit first time.
  20. Maybe we could sell one of our 2 defenders for peanuts to afford another non-goal scoring striker that transitions to play left wing?
  21. “I would prefer to control the game, my teams over 20 years have mainly controlled games, yet at this club we didn’t have the players, in my opinion, to control football matches so we had to find a way of trying to win to get out of the trouble that we were in." So by your logic Tone, you've been here for 17.5% of your career and in that time you've had SIX transfer windows. Yet we don't have good enough players and lose 3 on the spin playing your "controlled football". Turn that pointed finger around mate. Shit like this should be you signing your own P45... if anyone in the club was listening/not your best mate. Which they're not.
  22. I suppose a drift that takes 9 months can be classified as slow. ? We are still 4 points off last seasons total with 5 games to play. Best case scenario we beat it by what, 3-4 points? Likely scenario we equal it. That isn't good enough after the money he has spent and shows clear stagnation, not to mention abysmal football. If Mowbray stays, I genuinely fear we'll sell at least 1 of Armstrong, Lenihan or Travis, and lose Dack and Nyambe next June. Bennett and Gallagher will make 90 starting appearances combined, and Walton will be our big money signing. Time. To. Go.
  23. Those people worried that the next manager could leave us worse off next season. Tell me, what is worse off than relegation? As that is exactly where I think we'll be with Mowbray. Especially with this off-season of confusion. Add another Poll - where would Rovers finish next season if they kept Mowbray... my vote would be bottom 3. Anyone voting top 6 needs a psychology evaluation.
  24. Wonder how much Britt Assombalonga would cost if 'Boro went down... though it seems unless Wigan go on and win at least 3 of their last 5, they will go and whoever of Stoke, Boro, Hull and Huddersfield will survive by default.. which is a shame. I'd much rather wigan survive (somehow) this year and start next year in the Championship on -12 (god knows we will probably need the advantage!)
