  1. Those quotes basically say to me that Mowbray and recruitment have been doing buggar all but waiting for Adarabioyo to sign for 3 weeks. "Now he has signed we go again" (or words to that nature) That cant be true... No wonder we get hardly any of our/the top rated targets.
  2. Is it physically possible to have gone any slower? 3 weeks for a loanee kid from Manchester. I can only assume Tosin had to drive to India to meet the V's first and is now on his way back... Nah, doing that literally would have taken less time. ?
  3. Saving it for a new manager ? (Mark Hughes might be desperate by then!) More chance of the Earth actually being flat ??
  4. I'll be judging at 2:15pm when I see the team sheet ?
  5. Him or John Souttar would be decent for us. Think his value is around the £5m area with McKenna maybe closer to (north of?) £7m. Big money for SPL defenders. Ajer, Katic, Simunovic, Berra, McKenna and Souttar are all decent quality players and it wouldn't upset me if we were linked with some of them. Looks like we're finally being linked with the types of CB we need. (I know McKenna wasn't linked) Maybe we won't be disappointed come deadline day...
  6. Bennett and Downing at fulbacks. Rothwell on the benchh He either doesn't get it, or simply doesn't want it. Mowbray out?
  7. That's 32 goals conceded from just 10 away games listed there. Scandalous. However that means we only conceded 27 goals from the other 31 games combined (18 home, 13 away)... impressive. I'm not sure what stat is more shocking, but it does tell you that a quality CB would make a huge difference. It's by no means the final piece of the jigsaw but fuck sake Tony it's been the key piece for 9 months. Get one in, spend this "untouched" Raya money and give us a chance.
  8. I knew if I waited long enough the "Transfer Thread" would become the "Mowbray Out" thread. This morning seems to be the final straw. I recall the majority of fans on the poll voted to "give him the summer" whereas most of us saw the iceberg. Of course there is still the 30% who think hes King Kenny II. Unless he shocks "the world" in the next 8 days and brings in a proper CB (he's already dropped the ball with GK situation) and doesn't start the season with the likes of Nyambe, Travis, Rothwell etc... he will be facing an uphill battle to ever win me back. Hypothetically: if he did win promotion, (no chance IMO) could you imagine his transfer policy next summer... I dread to think, ? honestly. If he continues down the path I think he's on, I really think hes gone by Halloween, rightfully so. Venkys have given him too much money to allow him to plod along another season.
  9. Slow news day. Problem a lot of people (or is it 50:50 ?) have with Mowbray is even if we brought in Jorge Mendes or Mino Riaola to do our scouting and spending, gaining us unearthed gems the likes of Ruben Neves (for example), I still honestly think Corry Evans, Elliott Bennett and the like would be higher up Tony's pecking order. On the positive front, 3 Tony Mowbray signings scored last night. On the negative, that second half formation at Bury was abhorrent. Two wide forwards in Graham (LF) and Armstrong (RF) with Dack as the false 9. Tony...4-2-3-1, repeat, 4-2-3-1.
  10. Graham on the LW all second half.... ummkay.
  11. 10 days until the new season, penultimate game, and Richie Smallwood is again captain ??
  12. Maybe the first transfer in history where a club actually pay the "buying" club to take a player? I definitely think we need to loan Nuttall, Grayson, Hart, Lyons and Fisher, but I'd like to see Buckley and Butterworth remain around the squad (with Rankin-Costello) as I think they are ready for Championship cameos. However, if they get half a season in L1 playing regularly, ready to come back and compete in January (like new signings ?) that would make sense due to the size of squad we have. Smallwood simply needs to go for basic numbers. Nuttall and/or Samuel too. Wharton perhaps also. If we do everything you posted @RovingRover I think we will be happy... assuming the new CB is 1) any good and 2) actually plays. Gut feeling is Mowbray could sign the next Cafu, Nesta and Maldini and still stick them behind Bennett, Mulgrew and Williams for 30 games.
  13. It's the 5 behind that that's (still the, if not more of) the problem. 2019) Walton Bennett Lenihan Mulgrew Bell Or: @ Derby) Raya Nyambe Lenihan Williams Bell
  14. Great post, very encouraging... however the part in bold is the part I dread. "Hope Mowbray uses these lads right", he won't.
  15. It's too simplistic to always blame Venkys. Fact is that Mowbray has spent substantial money (£5m) and wages (probably £50kpw) this summer on three players in positions we didnt "need" in Downing, Johnson and Gallagher. Had he done the same but on an experience GK, £5m CB and a free agent LB (Olsson), that would be different. Truth is, it's the person that signs the players that is making the mistakes this summer.
  16. Walton: "I’m looking forward to working with Ben [Benson], the goalkeeping coach, and hopefully it’s the right fit for all parties." Hence the reason you were signed.
  17. I dunno, I just found this article: With Lambert's arrival, Blackburn Rovers have only conceded 15 goals this season, which is notable, given the fact that most of the bottom-half teams have allowed 20 or 30 apiece. In other words, Lambert is inheriting a team that is decent defensively. I think lambert was a "get us promoted" manager, not a "save us from relegation" manager. We already had 17 points from 16 games and Charlton went down in 22nd on 40 points. I think we would have been just fine. Lambert only got 38 points from 30 games. Plus, Lambert signed Elliott Ward.
  18. Lambert was dreadful too. I remember saying after his first 4 games that it was the worst, most boring and undeserved 10 points I had ever witnessed. What followed the remaining 6 months was worse. I was delighted when he left. Ironic how excited everyone was (myself too) with Lambert... but he started the ball rolling towards relegation IMO. I've heard from many people in lots of different roles within the club that Lambert was easily the worst "person" to ever manage BRFC. For what it's worth, does anyone actually think that if we had kept Bowyer, that we would have been relegated 18 months later... or at all. I honestly dont think so. Bowyer got us to 8th and 9th in two full seasons, yet is lambasted for not getting us promoted with a squad HE mainly built. Mowbray just about gets us past Shrewsbury into 2nd at Easter and had one of the best budgets and teams in L1 history and then comes 15th overseeing the worst period of form in years from Feb - April, and still struggles to get more than 3 of his signings into the XI. If you are one of the fans so able to criticise Bowyer, I dont see how you also see the sun shining out of TM.
  19. Speaking of Adam and having too many midfielders... I updated a little song we haven't sung for a season and a half: Oh-ay-oh, why've we still got Smallwood Oh-ay-oh, why's he still at Ewood Oh-ay-oh, he's terrible in every way..... (some-one-take-him!). Adam not being signed is only a negative when it protects weaker footballers in our squad. If we start the season with only Conway, Rodwell, Reed and Raya gone from our team in May, something has gone wrong. Far too many L1 plodders.
  20. So more bullshit from the manager yet again. "Two signings in the next 24 hours"... shut up Tony. If I kept setting these deadlines in my job and kept blatantly lying and missing them... well, I'd be in a lot of bother. Not Tony Mowbray it seems.
