I'm not disputing that the Premier League is a great league but there is no doubt that City are utterly dominant of the last 18 trophies on offer in English football they have won 11 of them. Arsenal are miles short of them as it showed when push came to shove & Arsenal were only competing in one competition. Look at Arsenal's two main singings last summer two Man City cast offs. Spurs are a poor team who's league position reflected their squad, they are light years away from City. Liverpool have been the only side to push City over the last 6 seasons but they don't have the state ownership like City to continually spend huge sums on world class players every summer and this year it caught up with them. Financially City are competing in a different stratosphere compared with the rest of the league except from perhaps Newcastle & the only thing that will get other clubs near them is state ownership but the prospect of the title race in English football in coming years being between multiple clubs own by nation states is for me a rather unappetising one.

In the last 6 seasons they have won 5 league titles & half the domestic cups on offer in that period. If that isn't a stranglehold then I don't know what is.

Just imagine if Nathan Jones had taken the easy option stayed in his Welsh mining community, taught PE and married a nice Welsh girl then City may well have done the quadruple.

Mansour is the deputy PM & Vice President of a nation state, his brother is President. He has the backing and wealth of an entire nation behind him what he has done has not been for City it has been for him to promote his nation to a global audience which the Premier League has. The people who deserve the most credit at City are the commercial team who between 2010 & 2016 achieved extraordinary things. Not least how they managed to upwardly renegotiate the UAE's national airlines naming rights of the stadium 4 times between 2013 & 2016.

As talented and influential a manager as Guardiola is both of his trebles have question marks hanging over them. In City's case its 115 charges from the Premier League and in Barca's case payments to refs from 2001-2018 (which covers Guardiola's entire tenure). Also worth pointing out that City would not have been in the Champions League this season if they had not have won their CAS appeal. But it's also worth pointing out that CAS did not find them 'completely innocent' as Guardiola has previously claimed, in fact they were proven innocent of nothing it was just that the most serious of charges were time barred but CAS did find them to have contravened FFP regulations for a second time. But when it comes to the Premier League charges neither CAS or a time can save them.

As I said the other day they are a Frankenstein's monster of a club there is nothing real or authentic about them. They were just fortunate that the deputy Prime Minister of the UAE (who attend his 2nd game in 13 years last night) wanted to promote his country to a global audience which the Premier League has & chose them to do it. Spurs are a fading power upwardly mobile progressive looking clubs like Newcastle, Villa & Brighton have all overtaken them. The days of Spurs playing in the Champions League are gone Levy failed to make hay while the sun was shinning. A few years back they had a world class players all over the pitch now the only one they have is Kane. The first thing that Spurs need to invest heavily in is their defence that the likes of Dier & Davies start most weeks and that Sanchez is still apart of their squad encapsulates why they have regressed.

The celebration after his first goal should automatically discount that out as an option.

Given Celtic's dominance in the last decade or so can you even call it a 2 horse race? I had to laugh at a stat I saw the other day that the Canadian right back Johnston that Celtic signed in January has won more trophies in Scotland in just over 5 months than Rangers' right back Tavernier has won in 8 seasons.

It's a shame really to see Guardiola wasting his talents on such a plastic project.

Expectations and standards.

The problem for Leeds is they will struggle to shift them because simply put the players aren't very good.

The only club to worry about if they get their act together is Leicester other than that there is absolutely nothing to fear.

Not if they want to get back to the success they have under Abramovich's ownership.

As a bloke Darren Moore always comes across as a real gentleman but as a football manager he isn't very good. Sheffield Wednesday have some good players but they just play turgid long ball football. Without a change of manager they will be battling down at the wrong end of the table.

Leeds must be still ruing the day they sacked Bielsa, he had worked miracles there and at his first real bump in the road was sacked. It will be a few years at they very least until they are back in the Premier League. As for Leicester they must be ruing sticking with the myth that is Brendan Rodgers for far too long this season.
