  1. should have been loaned out again, silly decision not to do so
  2. he has been injured. Even if he was available, wages would be a huge issue. Rovers don't even pay what he was on when he was here, let alone anything close to what he is on now https://www.eadt.co.uk/sport/25714511.ipswich-town-george-hirst-sammie-szmodics-injury-updates/ Szmodics, meanwhile, dropped out of the squad having recently made his comeback from a knee injury with three late cameos. On Szmodics, the Blues boss said: "That was just illness."
  3. Although he had some injury issues, he did well when he played for Accrington in League 2 last season, mainly at left wing back, winning their young player of the season awards You would have thought that would have meant that he should have either pushed on or be sold last summer, he was a given a 1 year deal with an option during last summer, but has looked disinterested in the few games he has featured for the U21s (9 games in all competitions) this year Seems to have now been overtaken by Brandon Powell
  4. I know you probably meant league goals, but...
  5. If there is an option to buy then the terms have already been agreed and signed off by both clubs, the player, agent etc The only way he doesn't sign is if Rovers do not trigger the option, which given who runs the club, is a possibility There is the possibility that he is one of the stand out players in the Championship and a club with more finances fancies taking him, in this case he would still be legally obliged to sign for Rovers first (assuming they trigger the option), who would then sell him on at profit. The main issue is Venkys/Pasha/etc moving the goalposts on us again by changing the budget/project etc, but barring a ridiculous act of self sabotage (*), he will sign for Rovers by the end of the season * which with our owners is a possibility
  6. I'm not too sure, surely proper owners would be doing the bare minimum to keep the lights on whilst making sure that any fans who have not been driven away by a decade and a half of deterioration & mismanagement are squeezed for every possible penny so that the club can "wash its own face"
  7. Agree with most that post, but if you mean Adam Armstrong, he would be well outside of our budget
  8. Doncaster's manager (& fans on their forum) gave fairly scathing reports of their loanees, with the exception of O'Riordan, who was singled out for praise I wonder just how outstanding/exceptional a defender has been, in a team who has won once since the beginning of September & who sit second bottom in the table, but he will probably do an adequate job as cover for Miller
  9. Was just about to mention his alleged wage of somewhere between £15K & £20K/week
  10. or he has scored 7 in 54 for Birmingham, which included a year playing for possibly the best funded League 1 team in history who walked the league at a canter. add to that he is now in his 30s, the signs point to a decline on what was not a prolific record in the first place
  11. I would include Beck & Leonard in the "who was replaced column" Alebiosu - Brittain Miller - Hyam McLoughlin - Batth Baradji - Travis Tavares - Buckley Gudjohnsen - Leonard Henriksson - Weimann TGH - JRC Morishita - Dolan De Neve - Beck
  12. Yes, but that same little or no money may also get you a De Neve
  13. Is that code for "sell Alebiosu and replace him with someone cheaper?" 😉
  14. That number may have increased https://www.linkedin.com/in/raphael-scherrer-aa3611b1/ Responsible for next generation recruitment (U18-U23) in Europe and Africa Whilst that would mainly be academy recruitment, there does look to be some overlap
  15. It sounds a fair estimate They have a few on more than £25K/week In fact those sort of wages (£25K-£30K/week) are at the higher end of "normal" for most in this division, apart from Sheff Wed, Oxford, Charlton, Portsmouth, Rovers and maybe Preston
  16. For Joseph? He is 17. I wasn't aware there were rules about participation of players of that age If you mean Dowman, then yes, permission would have had to have been granted before Arsenal played him
  17. yes see Tyjon, who has also not signed a pro deal, but who has made his debut Or Max Dowman at Arsenal, who was playing first team football as a 15 year old schoolboy who couldn't sign a pro deal until he turns 17
  18. well they can decide not to active the buy option, and/or our wonderful owners can slash the budget again I suppose you could rephrase the statement as "there is no reason beyond deliberate self sabotage, why they cannot sign Baradji, as the deal is already legally agreed"
  19. Cantwell injured has played 49 league games for Rovers now
  20. probably have someone sent off and ref gives them a pen for nothing
