  1. I did mean to put getting lucky in quotation marks, which I have now done I would hazard a guess that Boro keep their youngsters for longer periods because their youngsters know that if they break through that they will be paid a decent wage for a couple of years until they are sold off, whereas at Rovers, they will be lowballed until they are shunted out of the door. Completely agree that the system is broken, as I stated yesterday, but Rovers (as well as every other club) also take advantage of it when they can
  2. Weimann was training with Rovers last summer as there was no interest in him. Batth had spent a year hardly playing for Norwich it is obvious what happened, Rovers picked up both on low cost deals, and are hoping that they can't be bothered with the hassle of moving and/or the possibility they may not play as often as they would be at Rovers
  3. Last of these for this season, seeing as technically Markanday is still our player until his contract expires at the end of June. On the bench today Markanday - lost 1-0 - Markanday didn't get off the bench, Given that Orient didn't have a shot on target until the last minute of injury time, he must be completely out of favour as they seemed to be crying out for someone like him The Leyton Orient fans seem to like him, with several saying they hope they sign him in the summer
  4. According to Jackson, both Bath & Weimann signed up for less than market value last summer to prove their fitness/worth/etc. So any new deal for them will need to be on higher wages "Batth and Weimann both signed on low-cost contracts last year, such was their enthusiasm to join and prove their value. Having done that in excellent debut seasons, any new deals would need to be a fairer reflection of their Championship experience and pedigree." So yes, negotiations have stalled due to low balling them and also, given that they are on "low cost contracts", it is entirely possible that Derby are offering much more
  5. Assuming Brittain is still here next season, then Duru needs another loan I think it is more of a case that he will need proper minutes, and wouldn't get that if he is playing second fiddle to Brittain.
  6. Small is a a left back who has been playing right wing this season, whilst he can play at right back, it would be a very strange decision to sign a left footed player as a first choice right back. Personally think he would be a decent option further forwards, but unless someone is leaving at left back, signing him as a full back option makes little sense. Unless he has a burning desire to move back up north (He was born in the midlands but was originally a youngster at Everton before moving down south to Southampton then Charlton), I imagine he will sign for Millwall or similar
  7. He is 16 years old, and last season (whilst still at school) was fairly regular for our U18s and also played for our U21s as well as being called up for Italy U17s, (although I do not think he has actually played at that level yet) For comparison, Harvey Higgins (who is also 16 and was still at school last season) played slightly less games at both U18 & U21 level, and is playing at England U16 level So purely looking at the stats, their development/potential/hype, are similar, albeit in different positions. wth us "getting lucky" with Higgins signing a scholarship deal, probably at least in part because he is a local lad who has been with us since U7s level, whilst we snapped Eze up from Accrington less than 7 months ago For a further comparison, both Igor Tyjon & Rory Finneran, featured more at all levels in the previous season (when they were both the same age as Higgins & Eze are now *) * obviously not perfect comparisons, as they play in different positions and 2 separate years
  8. Might be that, but its a couple of months old https://www.livemint.com/sports/news/blackburn-rovers-fans-demand-venky-s-sell-the-club-after-years-of-decline-11741957414881.html
  9. Not sure that Sheff Utd can afford to spend big, As they came down from the Prem after 1 season, they only get 2 years parachute payments, not 3, so they might have to start adjusting downwards
  10. Sheff Utd definitely the favourites, but its a one off game
  11. and probably the next 4-6 years too Mainoo may eventually replace Rice, but the others have 10+ years at the very top
  12. We stole him for an even smaller pittance less than 7 months ago It is a shitty system, that needs reforming (but likely will not be), but Rovers also take advantage of it too
  13. He didn't He would be a decent signing as back up/competition for Brittain, but if he is Brittains replacement then it is a significant downgrade He does have decent pace though
  14. Apparently Rovers are competing with Derby & PNE for Cody Drameh, with Hull willing to sell at the right price https://www.lancashiretelegraph.co.uk/sport/25187227.blackburn-register-transfer-interest-hull-city-defender/ Competition & the "right price" presumably being more than ยฃ0 surely make this unlikely
  15. Montgomery starts for Scotland U20s vs Slovakia, kick off is at 14:30, I was looking for a stream but cannot seem to locate one
  16. "Adam, Wharton" trending on twitter now
  17. employees, shareholders, owners, etc (anyone with any interest) Personally see the term as meaningless "corpospeak" which is designed to make those who cannot think critically, feel like we are all in this together
  18. Hence the first line of my previous comment Just because our players are paid below average by Championship standards. does not mean that they are not paid more than other groups we could compare them with (such as the women's team and/or normal fans) by several orders of magnitude
  19. That all depends on who we are comparing them with But if we are comparing their current financial remuneration with what they would get at any other club in the championship that has any realistic hopes of being in the mix for the top 6 next season, then yes, I agree
  20. Waggott is lazy and as done as he is told for the past 7 years, without rocking the boat. He is not the devious mastermind that you seem to think he is
  21. https://www.lancashiretelegraph.co.uk/sport/25185397.burnley-fc-women-go-full-time-pros---replace-rovers/ Dingle FC Women to go full-time pros - and could replace Rovers Not sure if this was always planned, or if they are jumping on the opportunity
