  1. Even worse than that. We are choosing not to spend it during a narrow window (which ends 3 years after the sale of Adam Wharton) when profit & sustainability/FFP/whatever would not be an issue due to the money brought in over the past 18 months
  2. Garrett hasn't played as a full back since U18s level. If we still had JDT as manager with his full backs moving inside to create overloads in midfield, then I would be more inclined to agree, but I would be hesitant to rely on someone playing in a position that they have not featured in, at any level for close to 5 years
  3. Start this evening for Saadi - lost 2-1
  4. I think (from memory) there is a limit to that, something like a club can unregister 2/3 players who have not been sold/loaned elsewhere. Although I cannot find any reference to this online, so it may be a figment of my imagination
  5. You missed the goalkeeping Adonis that is Joe Hilton, who would also be included in our 25. Looks inevitable to me that Garrett will be loaned out again, (otherwise he would have been at least on the bench in the FA cup) so would remove him form any 25 man squad calculations
  6. This same tactic worked for Szmodics too, maybe we should just blow the remaining January budget on peroxide?
  7. It never ends, and never will. I imagine that the lack of meaningful acquisitions and/or extra sales in the January window will now have the excuse of "unforeseen complications" in India
  8. I would imagine specifically a Gestede signing, based on the quote from Forshaw below “I played with Rudy [Gestede, Head of Football Operations] at Middlesbrough and I think he came from Rovers to Middlesbrough at the time. We’ve stayed in touch and I’m pleased that everything came to fruition for me to be here now.
  9. They still have their sale on
  10. Apparently his main job is a sales assistant at Zara, I wonder how much they would charge for his services?
  11. Its been said before, but it shows how shortsighted the current owners/hierarchy/etc are. A few £100K (or in my dreams £1-2M) on the best current League 1 players can be worth £10M in under 2 years. As we have demonstrated with Szmodics, and would have likely also happened with Dack was it not for his first big injury
  12. Story states he will be loaned straight back out to Leyton Orient, who are in the play off hunt in League 1. Sounds like a sensible move if true
  13. Elliott Jackson reporting Markanday to be recalled and sent to Leyton Orient in league 1 Chesterfield fans not too happy about the news
  14. He has started the last couple for Ipswich, was missing at the start of the season due to an injury picked up in the summer It is however possible that if they sign Philogene that he may move on, although Hutchinson is already missing for them for some time
  15. Statistically the most wasteful striker in world football, for reference Gueye was something like 29th on the same list
  16. Whilst we are at, we should pick up Haaland, Salah, DeBruyne, and invest in research for a time machine to pick up Maldini in his prime, which are all just as likely to happen given our current ownership
  17. I think that due to them not being included on the bench v Middlesbrough yesterday, we can safely assume that there is at least "a plan" to find new loan homes for Garrett, O'Riordan, and possibly also Edmondson & Atcheson for the rest of the season
  18. Baker back to Stoke https://www.rovers.co.uk/news/2025/january/08/baker-returns-to-stoke/
  19. Amended my original post, thanks for that
  20. https://thelaziali.com/2024/01/30/lazio-plymouth-argyle-morgan-whittaker/#:~:text=The Biancocelesti proposed a deal, fee of €18 million. Over €10 million, seeing as they turned down that amount
  21. Coaches cant leave the coaching area, players who are warming up can I am not saying its a great use of funds, but replacing that role that Fadz has had this season does make some sense Sunderland can also spend £20M quid on a new player, we have Venkys and Waggott to contend with
  22. The Stoke City Andy Moran appreciation thread https://oatcakefanzine.proboards.com/thread/315602/sunderland-stoke-city-cup-3rd?page=7
