2025 Summer Transfer Thread. 😂
KentExile replied to Upside Down's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
In order to maintain 4 esc slots after this season, English qualifying players (EQP) would need to play in at least 35% of minutes in the Championship for Rovers this season. This equates to a little under 16000 minutes. Any less, and the number of allocated esc slots will drop. This may be an issue. Following the departure of Brittain, Dolan, Batth etc and with seemingly Pickering & Pears no longer being regular starters, as I only see Travis & Cantwell as "guaranteed" English qualifying starters, So even if they both remain & play in every single minute of every single Championship game, that is only just over half of these minutes (8280 minutes) & if either of those leave, they are likely to be replaced by an non qualifying player. Whilst some of those remaining minutes will be covered by subs./rotation etc (Carter, Wharton, Pickering, Forshaw, Tyjon, Alebiosu etc), This may be an extra reason why Gestede was so interested in increasing the minutes for U21 players (who are in the main English qualifying), as not doing so will derail any future transfer plans and leave them having to shop in more expensive (British & those who qualify for work permits automatically) markets * Obviously this makes the rather precarious assumption that Rovers consider events at least a year in the future ** If we have 4 ESC players but our number of slots is then reduced, we can still keep those 4 ESC players (thank you WilsdenRover), although if we sell/convert them, we cannot replace those slots until our minutes are back up to the required levels https://analyticsfc.co.uk/blog/2023/06/21/introducing-esc-the-new-gbe-guidance-opens-up-recruitment-post-brexit/ 2024/25 onwards Criteria However, from this season onwards clubs will be able to plan for the number of ESC slots that they have, with the possibility that they could only have one if the number of minutes for EQP is lower than 20%. Number of available ESC places Weighted EQP minutes % Premier League Championship League One League Two >= 35% 4 4 2 2 >= 30% 3 3 1 1 >= 25% 2 2 – – >= 20% 1 1 – – -

Not sure about that I think he is a knock it past them type with an erratic delivery rather than a dribbler with a great cross though -

Michalski signed a contract in January, although as he has now turned 18, he can now sign a longer one * Him signing a contract in January was a strange one, as he turned 18 in March, so could have then signed a much longer deal -

Completely agree, if Rovers did similar to teams like Boro, and reinvested circa 70% of fees received, they would be in a much healthier position both on the pitch, and financially As it is, we would probably be thinking all of our Christmases have come at once if 17% was reinvested -

Depends what sort of wage he is on, If "some European semi pro side" cannot afford to match them, then he might fancy sitting things out, in which case we would need to pay his contract up * Sending him away on loan would not remove him from the esc calculation, he would need to be off the books completely -

If Brittain went for £3.5M, you would think maybe £2.5M - £3M both English, same contract situation, Brittain probably a better footballer -

When was the last time you saw any fee (which wasn't £0) actually confirmed by either club? £3.5M after add ons according to Jackson The real question is how much of that is guaranteed? and how much of the guaranteed amount is up front? -

Pretty sure as he is already playing regularly in Britain (not England), he will already have a British work permit. As he has been with them for 3 years, they will have moved him to a standard work permit by now According to AI AI Overview +4 Scottish clubs do not have Elite Significant Contribution (ESC) slots like English clubs. The English football system uses ESC slots to allow clubs to sign a limited number of exceptional international players who don't automatically qualify for a Governing Body Endorsement (GBE) under the points-based system. While Scottish clubs can sign players from overseas, the process is different and not tied to the same ESC structure -

The first he mentioned Mafoumbi a few weeks ago was after Mafoumbi' s esc slot was mentioned in discussion on here Also, it would be remiss of him not not at least have a scan of this forum on a semi to fairly regular basis -

Or out on loan at a decent enough level. If we can get him a National League loan (or below), then there are no restrictions with recalling him (in case of injuries/suspension to Toth) even outside of the transfer window -

I would suspect there will be an initial agreement for him to join in January once Toth/Kargbo work permit status can be changed, with an option to push it forwards if Rovers can offload Mafoumbi (seeing as he will apparently be unavailable anyway after a foot operation) https://www.lancashiretelegraph.co.uk/sport/25363304.blackburn-rovers-transfer-latest-three-deals-close/ Blackburn Rovers transfer latest with three deals close Blackburn Rovers are finalising deals for Lewis Miller and Axel Henriksson, with both players set to join Valerien Ismael’s squad. Rovers fans have been eagerly awaiting official announcements over the weekend, with Callum Brittain joining Middlesbrough and Miller lined up to replace him. The Lancashire Telegraph understands that Brittain’s deal should be officially confirmed on Monday afternoon. Likewise, the majority of Miller’s move from Hibernian has been finalised. However, there is still a small club-to-club agreement that hasn’t yet been reached and that is delaying an official announcement. It’s plausible that Brittain’s move may not be confirmed until Rovers have finalised the last parts of Miller’s deal but it is just a matter of time. Miller has passed his medical and once that agreement in full is secure, he will be a Rovers player, joining from Hibernian for a fee of around £1million, all-in. The Australian defender will be joined by Swedish midfielder Herinksson, who was the mystery player alluded to by Ismael when speaking to The LT on Saturday. The 23-year-old is in Lancashire putting the final touches to his move to Rovers too and will further bolster their options in the middle. Herinksson will be Rovers’ sixth summer signing, assuming he’s confirmed after Miller, joining from Swedish top-flight club GAIS. It gives Ismael a wealth of midfield choice with Lewis Travis, Sondre Tronstad, Sidnei Tavares, Adam Forshaw and John Buckley already in the building. A deal for Moussa Baradji is also still on the table with negotiations ongoing. Buckley is expected to leave Rovers this window after a spate of new arrivals in his position. He was left out of the squad against NEC Nijmegen and needs to restart his career with a new club. Similarly, Aynsley Pears could move on too after he wasn’t selected. Balazs Toth will be the number one goalkeeper for the upcoming season with Nick Michalski currently ahead of Pears in the pecking order. Share -

terminating his contract would also involve paying it up (or at least coming to a financial agreement on it), but he probably isn't on huge money, so is a possibility
