It felt inevitable 10 days ago that he'd be following his fellow Sam out of the door. Now, it feels like this could rumble on for the final weeks of the window. A fee of £10million with various add-ons and bonuses was always likely to get the deal done. But Ipswich have haggled and played hardball. Considering they are down to 18 contracted senior outfield players a week before the season starts, you wonder if that will be enough to make them stump up. If he currently takes up an ESC spot, then I am pretty sure he still takes one up if he is away on loan, but not if he is sold, as well as other factors that have been mentioned such as sell on clauses (even if it was a free transfer)
