  1. I'm sure some liked him and some didn't Szmodics has raved about him being a genius in the media and in at least one podcast over the summer I am sure that a the ones who played probably liked him, and that those who didn't play as often as they liked probably liked him less
  2. He is one of the higher earners left. Eustace played both Gally and Szmodics until bids came in, so in my opinion there is no reason why the same wouldn't apply to Travis/Hyam/Sigurdsson Obviously, if decent enough bids do not come in, I am sure Eustace will be happy to keep and play them
  3. Leonard & Gilsenan will be "like new signings" when that time comes 😉
  4. Yep, but he is young, quick and I am pretty sure he joined Sheff Utd at a young enough age to be considered home grown. They see future profits in that
  5. Newcastle have a model for buying young players and then selling them on a year or 2 later for fairly large profit Eg Mintah was signed a year ago, loaned out and sold this summer for £20M+ profit I would guess the aim is to eventually use that to circumnavigate FFP and finance "marquee signings" in the future Lewis Hall will likely be similar Would imagine they see similar short term increase in value in this guy and dare I say, Finneran
  6. Can see him getting a move to Luton as a relatively cheap, youngish and English gamble for a squad position *Cheap for Luton, but still a higher wage than anyone will be on at Rovers in a years time
  7. I wouldn't put it past Venkys to somehow win their court case and decide to start taking an interest again, and then with Eustace having us in or around the top 6, to sack him and bring in Frank Lampard to "push Rovers on to another level"
  8. I am not sure why you think I am being melodramatic. I made my own point on that subject, and will now move on to a different topic. Dummy?
  9. You were not originally comparing the Belgium League with the Scottish Prem though, you originally said the Belgium top tier was no better than the Scottish 2nd tier
  10. In fairness, UEFA do agree with me with regards Belgium Pro League being several levels ahead of the Scottish Premier League. Coefficients based on the performance of their respective clubs in Europe https://www.uefa.com/nationalassociations/uefarankings/country/?year=2025 I will grant you that my comparison between the J League and the Scottish Premier is more subjective
  11. Give it a few years and maybe Branthwaite will be
  12. I would be amazed If they got half of that for him. £1M + add on's and Waggott etc would snap peoples hands off (partially to get a fairly high earner off the books). Why would a club pay £3.5M for a player who cant move the ball forwards? (your own words)
  13. Gueye has spent the past 4 years (barring one season on loan in the Spanish 2nd tier which looks like it was a failure) playing, and scoring in the top tier of Belgium which is a step above the Championship and top tier in Scotland (never mind the Scottish 2nd tier) The Japanese League is also on a rough par with Scotland's top tier (n terms of quality if not style) I am not trying to big up our window, the other signings so far are uninspiring at best, and I expect more sales and cost cutting over the next month. But that particular statement (highlighted in bold) is just false
  14. Super Super Brett Super Brett Baker https://www.linkedin.com/in/brett-baker-5368ba35/?originalSubdomain=uk
  15. used to be an out and out striker a few years back. Now more of a versatile forward (mainly wide & central AM). Pretty good with pressing/work rate Would imagine he will be a rotational option rather than a nailed on first choice
  16. You are not alone, I can genuinely see him as a Szmodics type player given time and opportunities. Did ok and got a few goals in that role in the early cup games against League 1 & 2 teams last season
  17. Those notes do not however state 1st choice GK, so it could just be someone to replace Wahlstedt on the bench "Key positions" implies 1st choice, but does not explicitly state 1st choice. And we do have to remember this information came from Waggott, so it will of course be talked up to the max (like the bus)
  18. I remember Ray Harford (I think it was him) talking about balance when he signed Chris Coleman for Rovers as a left footed centre back in 1995/96 24 year old Pep must have been listening
  19. Thanks for that. You are right about his contract not expiring, he was given a free as you state on transfer deadline day https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/danny-batth/profil/spieler/129049 Mowbray was still in charge at this point though, who was his manager when he got his player of the season award. he wasn't sacked until December, so Batth was gone over 3 months before Beale arrived https://www.skysports.com/football/news/11695/13023143/tony-mowbray-sacked-by-sunderland-after-15-months-at-stadium-of-light
