  1. How the hell are they not beating us? We look like a League Two side.
  2. Dack for Szmodics before he gets a red and we might have a shot. Literally.
  3. Buckley AND Travis, Travis shouldn't get away with this horrible performance. Can't have both your CMs not up to it. He should be bringing Morton on, although I'd like to have seen Adam Wharton on instead.
  4. How are they not beating us. Buckley, Travis, Dolan, Hedges all appalling so far tonight. Szmodics and Brereton useless too. We were also crap at the weekend and Dolan is fortunate to be starting games but fair play to him with the goal involvement stats. Morton, Gallagher and Dack on for me, if Dack can't get on in this then surely he's done here.
  5. I thought it was an appalling win today. If there's such a thing this was it! Two fairly fortunate goals and a disjointed team in front of a very steady defence, all the attackers seemed to have different ideas and were largely ineffective as a group at going forward. There was no intensity after going 2-0 up and we didn't control the ball or the game after being gifted a flattering lead. Surprised and a bit disappointed to hear Tomasson was happy with that performance. From what I witnessed it seemed like we fumbled into another victory and the win loss win loss scenario seems the most likely outcome if we are going to continue relying on luck? We could have easily conceded more or gone down to 10 men today trying to atone for unnecessary passes and overplaying in vulnerable areas. I thought we were also fortunate not to give away a penalty. Some players aren't good enough for the system and I think we'll see a few sold in January. Brereton needs to stay on his feet more, Dolan needs to look up, Gallagher needs to keep it closer to him, Kaminski needs to remember how to kick and Hedges... is player of the season so far.
  6. Strange season so far, we're getting some fairly unlikely results and at the same time losing against teams where we have the better players. That does point towards the manager and staff getting things wrong for me and we are arguably higher than we should be given the performances. The main issue I have so far is the manner of our defeats...
  7. Close annoys me, would love to hear we got all our targets. If it was Dembele it could have made a huge difference.
  8. Overall with a few good signings, some very talented youngsters and this manager I'm happy. A solid first window from Broughton and Tomasson, plus a big statement from the club keeping hold of Brereton. I think the manager will be pleased!
  9. Anthony Gordon would also be considered failed at Championship level. Just 1 year ago.
  10. This aged well, since that post JRC has put in a stinker of a performance and the lack of cover in multiple positions has lost us points, particularly RB but it will be LB another month and then CM when Travis is out. We can all see what's needed, let's not let expectations drop now because we're short on time. According to many this was supposedly the plan all along... wait till the death and watch the bodies come in. More points on the line again tonight with holes in the squad. Come on Gregg... get some deals done!
  11. If we're doing the medical then we're doing it for somebody else because there's no way Ross Barkley is signing for Rovers 🤣
  12. Hardly an injury crisis, it's a years of lack of investment crisis. Wharton, Buckley, Phillips, A.Wharton, Travis, Phillips, Rankin-Costello, Ayala, Dolan, Vale, Carter. Barely a transfer fee in sight. That lack of investment is now letting down some very talented academy players and meaning we're keeping hold of others that are clearly not good enough. Rankin-Costello proved himself to be not fit for selection today, sell him for nothing.
  13. Adam Wharton's passing was sublime today, he looks a serious talent.
  14. The intentions were clear when we were 2nd in January (it doesn't get much better than that!) and spent 750k on permanent players. We learned a lot about the club then IMO and the players will have too. Hedges was already lined up as a squad player when the expectations were lower and the other got injured with the window still open, it was massively uninspiring and the players stopped believing. Would you sign a new deal if you felt capable of playing in the Premier League but your club makes it clear mid season that they will do very little to help themselves get there? If I were good enough I'd have no interest. Armstrong, Brereton and Rothwell all agree. I'm not buying the it was there but Mowbray chose not to spend it nonsense. This is promotion to the Premier League we're talking about. What position do we need to be in to take it seriously... 1st in January seemingly and I'm not even sure we'd go after it then! Yes it still gets to me, as that was a surprise position off the back of spending very little in the summer and selling Armstrong. What an opportunity it was, we all knew it and we had to capitalise! There needs to be a major culture change, Broughton has a lot to do and so far we aren't seeing it. Right now there is evidence of either a lack of ability to identify talent and close deals or a lack of financial backing from the owners, nothing else. Both of those things have to come together quickly. and what's Waggott doing these days? That's an extra 2k a week for Ash Phillips right there.
  15. I wonder if the owners are aware of how short we are player wise? As caring owners of a football club, surely they are asking Gregg and Steve a few questions through their man on the ground? I'd imagine Suhail Pasha is at least feeding back that their investment currently isn't strong enough to challenge at the level they might be expecting it to. I've done business with major Indian companies in the past before and quite often their processes for spending money are excessive even when they have it to spend, it can take months. I fear even though our owners keep things ticking over, they may never operate at the level needed to be effective in a football transfer market. We're yet to see that. The signs are there and I think in the past this has worked in our favour when it comes to outgoings but the reality is we are now at a stage where we also need to sell players more proactively and renew contracts quicker. Transfers with fees in and out seem a problem for Rovers, they take a lot of time. If what I suspect is right I don't think we'll see the number of signings we need before the deadline. 2 or 3 in at best. Perhaps 1 permanent that's already been worked on. Ultimately I suspect again after this transfer window that the owner's will never be a good fit, not unless major changes are made to their processes. Hope I'm proved wrong next week but the signs are there as others have mentioned that their business model doesn't fit owning a football club particularly one like ours that doesn't generate a lot of revenue.
  16. Sorry that is nonsense. The majority of teams that needed signings have been very busy. We were up there in terms of bodies needed and are one of the lowest for incomings.
  17. I don't think any panicking about transfers is an overreaction at all at this stage. The reality is that the people who are saying things like "don't worry" have absolutely no idea what is going on behind the scenes so it's total guesswork if you're telling people to stay calm. The FACTS so far are that not enough deals have been done and the squad isn't good enough, so it's right for the fans to push for that to improve quickly. Right now we find ourselves extremely short on numbers and stretched to a dangerous level physically. We got a hammering at Reading due to having too thin a squad and we got another one today because not enough quality has been brought in this summer and over the years. What I can say is that this is far from solely down to Broughton. His task is a big one and it's to make up for years of transfer neglect, I can only sensibly assume this is by the owners and executives (unless I want to guess that Mowbray chose not to spend it), including last summer and last January when in 2nd (which beggars belief!), and bad planning. It's a massive task for one summer but he has to find players, men not kids and bring them in quickly.
  18. We need a quality loan at left back, our neighbours have one in Maatsen and Boro have one in Giles. Centre back and a left back in early next week please Gregg, assuming none are getting done today!
  19. Last season we loaned Zeefuik because we needed competition at RB. JRC isn't good enough and we still haven't solved that issue. What happens if Brittain gets injured/ takes a dip in form? The musts for me are 2 CBS, a better quality left back, another CM (That's 4) I'd then want RB cover and a forward. Potentially 5 or 6 signings needed! After that you can move JRC and Vale out. It's going to be an interesting 2 weeks, it should be doable with plenty of loan spots still to be filled. Broughton just needs to get a move on!
  20. It's incredible we are where we are with only 3 signings. We know how demanding the Championship is physically and you need strength in depth. Expecting Travis to run around like he does 3 times a week isn't sustainable either, he will get injured soon. Buckley is a good player but not suitable for all oppositions and is still learning the game. The squad is far too thin and it needs sorting! You could see it against Swansea when we couldn't bring a decent defensive sub on to sure up the game, you could see it on Sunday when Buckley moved to RB and we burned out a 17 year old. We are riding our luck massively and it caught up with us today, simple as that. The entire team needs adding to a lot over the next 2 weeks. Broughton needs to get busy, I think we need 4 or 5 in without any outgoings.
