  1. Rovers best option would be to extend his contract, we'd be very lucky to sign someone anywhere near to Gallagher's importance to the team for £2 million. The new forward may want paying as well.
  2. If it was just about being desperate to save money, would they not have taken £2 million for Gallagher, and saved the biggest wage packet at the club? The figures just don't seem plausible.
  3. Slight exaggeration admittedly, but come on, how much can he possibly be on? You don't banish your captain to save his wage, it isn't remotely plausible.
  4. It's Garrett's shirt to lose now, it's up to him, what an opportunity.
  5. I don't believe for one minute that Travis went to save his wages, how much is he on, half a million a week?
  6. Garrett did struggle, especially first half, but played a great ball through to Gallagher leading to the first goal. There's something there to work with.
  7. We'll get nowhere near Gallagher's quality with £2 million, the replacement may want some wages as well I'm guessing.
  8. Carter is on crutches. Garrett did have a mare first half, but he did play a nice ball through leading up to the first goal (think it was him, not seen it back yet).
  9. The obvious thing to do with Gallagher is the one nobody is mentioning, just give him a 2 year extension. It's by far the most sensible option.
  10. You would hope so, that would be the right way round.
  11. That's how I remember it,Waggot appointed the man, who then appointed the man.
  12. I'm sure Broughton was credited with Tomasson's appointment, not that I'm bothered either way.
  13. I thought the idea was that Waggott appointed Broughton to appoint a coach. That would seem to be the right way round.
  14. Be interesting to see if he plays, although I personally think he will.
  15. Form has fallen off a cliff since he got injured, along with Costello.
  16. Don't know, hard to tell, looked as if Pickering reacted to Helik's run when he realised Helik was unmarked. I was more making the point that if he was marking him, then it would be disastrous planning in the first place.
  17. Just flicking back through the comments, if Pickering was marking Helik we're in an even bigger mess than I thought. I think, well I'd sincerely hope, he was someone else's man.
  18. Mowbray's squad finished 8th, then 7th last season under Tomasson ,with only Hyam contributing on a regular basis. Other than Hyam and to a lesser extent Szmodics, it was the squad Tomasson inherited which did so well. It's the subsequent transfer dealings which have let the squad down, and it has to be said, really bad luck with injuries. Even now we're massively reliant on Mowbray's players and the academy, we really shouldn't be missing Dolan and Hedges so much after all this time. The recruitment since Mowbray left has been really poor.
  19. Hyam apart and maybe Szmodics made a contribution last season, other than that it was the squad Tomasson inherited that finished 7th.
  20. Well if that's the case, please would you get a message back to them and tell them they're playing for everyone who turns up on Saturday. It would be nice of them to actually turn up themselves now and again. If they can't be arsed, tell them to let us know in advance so we don't need to bother.
  21. There was a clamour by quite a few for Pears to be dropped in favour of Wahlstedt, and during that period the microscopes were definitely out. Yes he made mistakes, but some of the criticism was just ridiculous. The difference since Wahlstedt has come in is that you don't have to look past the first shot or corner, he's been responsible for the first goal in the last 6 games. We're a goal down before we start.
  22. Nail on the head regarding Gally, he is by far our best forward, yet some can't wait to get rid of him, it's quite the dilemma. Obviously, it's the old injury situation which is the problem, but just how do you replace Gallagher with £1.5 million? The answer is, you don't. I'd be more inclined to give him a contract extension, than let him go for next to nothing which Tomasson probably wouldn't see anyway.
  23. But that isn't his remit is it? I couldn't care less if he goes tomorrow, I'm just seeing it for what it is. You can wish for a Neil Warnock all you want, but it isn't going to happen. The next bloke would be tasked with developing young players the same as Tomasson. What I'm saying is that at least we have seen some good stuff and goals when he's had the players at his disposal. I'd rather stick with him for now personally. Who would you get in?
