  1. Blackburn Rovers' bid to keep hold of top Academy talent | Lancashire Telegraph Sharpe seems confident it's done.
  2. If you've spent 35 years in the Riverside and you can still remain positive then you probably actually are fun at parties! You and your mates on the Riverside with your guitars! πŸ™‚
  3. Decimation? Good grief!! Only Nyambe, Lenihan, Rothwell, JPVH and Khadra contributed much of anything. The rest of the 11 hardly played. And a turnover of 5 first teamers is a pretty standard summer in the Championship. lots of teams will have a had a similar turnover of 1st teamers, and some teams a few more. And we've replaced every one of the '5' who actually contributed last season. Player-for-player the squad is no weaker than last year, with more options in various positions. Let's bring a modicum of context and even-handedness to the debate, and not resort to wildly exaggerated terms like 'decimation' πŸ˜‰
  4. Better results after 9 games. The reasons why Cardiff City sacked Steve Morison and the candidate they will look to next (msn.com) Some fans feared he was too cautious in his approach to games, needed to let gifted youngster Rubin Colwill off the leash far more. The critics would say his substitutions were by and large predictable, there was no real Plan B and perhaps the lack of a cutting edge was always going to cost in the end. Whether that end came in May, or indeed right here just 10 games into the season. Sounds familiar. No point hanging on to a deadbeat manager when the writing is on the wall.
  5. Yep, that's fair enough. I'll look forward to some fast, intense, attacking football after the WC. Can't waitπŸ˜‰
  6. If you think that's contradictory and/or in any way a comparable situation, then we really are going to have to agree to disagree!
  7. Yes, he said that Hirst was GB's and JDT's first choice. You're welcome. Or he was first choice and you're just wrong? πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ
  8. Rovers’ Director of Football Gregg Broughton said: β€œWe are delighted to welcome George to Blackburn Rovers. β€œHe has been our first choice recruitment target as a striker all summer and, considering Jon Dahl’s knowledge of the position, this shows just how highly we regard him.
  9. JDT said Hirst was his first choice
  10. Same as BCFC at home. The stat that we've lost every game this season where we've fallen behind is further evidence that there is no plan B.
  11. He was excellent against Blackpool (like everyone else) and garbage against Bristol City (like everyone else). He needs a run of 4 or 5 consecutive games before a judgement can be made either way on his fitness. Maybe he's not the problem?
  12. Which way it will go up to the break for the World Cup is still up in the air. 5 defeats out of the last 7...currently in 7th spot...but only 5 points above the relegation zone...and only 3 pts above 17th. Let's hope he can use his apparent coaching skills to get more consistent performances out of the team when we return for the Millwall game.
  13. Good to see you don't report people for engaging in genuine discussion. It's also refreshing to engage with someone who is capable of a discussion, rather than making it personal....and then running to the teacher like children. I feel a bromance coming onπŸ’— Anyway, we'll agree to disagree. He's had more than enough time IMO to implement his own style (see Kompany and many other managers down the ages) - fast intense attacking football with a 'fluid' front four is how JDT advertised it. There's been very little evidence of that. Maybe it will come in time. BTW, when is the expiry date on the 'not had enough time to implement his ideas/style of play' excuse??
  14. You've referenced me so I'll respond. Hopefully you won't report me. My criticism is even handed and within context thanks (not that you're the judge of even-handedness or context on here!) Kompany has been here exactly the same amount of time as JDT. He's changed from Dyche-ball to a possession-based game. There is a fundamental change in style at Burnley and a massive turnover of players, a far' bigger change on both counts than has happened at Rovers. These are undeniable facts, so repeatedly saying I'm 'plain wrong' is not a valid argument. The change in performance/style from Mowbray to JDT is barely noticeable. Oh, and our coaching staff are not 'entirely new'. Now that is 'plain wrong'!
  15. Yep, it's a fairly obvious point you're making. I've made the same. For some reason it's controversial πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ
  16. Managers with less money can develop a recognisable style quickly. The lower league show you that. JDT isn't re-inventing the wheel FFS. And I haven't written him off, just sharing my own views on him at this stage.
  17. Hallelujah. It's not even a particularly contentious point either. It's blatantly obvious to anyone who watches us. But apparently he needs even more time to implement the style of play he keeps banging on about, even though other managers achieve similar in far shorter time periods.
  18. You need to read back the discussion we have had. You've got lost along the way and forgotten the post of yours I responded to.
  19. A good manager can implement those ideas quickly. That's the point you're missing.
  20. Yeah, you've already said that. It was irrelevant tripe the first time.
  21. It's about style pf play. Please read the full discussion from the start before responding. It's tedious having to point it out.
  22. You misunderstood the discussion. I need say no more....
  23. That's not the discussion. The post I responded to was about the manger needing time to implement his ideas/style of play as there had been a turnover of players and a new manger (these are the excuses made for JDT) I just made the obvious comparison with a manager who has had an even bigger turnover of players and who has also had to completely change the style of play. In the same timeframe we don't even appear to have even established a recognisable style.
  24. Absolute tripe. Good managers get results quickly with players they inherit.
  25. He came in the same week as Kompany. Kompany has got his ideas across very quickly...and he lost far more players. He also completely changed their style. I think you need to stop making excuses for a manager who doesn't seem to know how to get the best out of his players, and doesn't even seem to have a style of play.
