  1. Delighted for JDT. He's finally got the result a lot of performances this season have deserved.
  2. We score 4, Dingles concede 4. Never felt more like singing the blues.........
  3. Great team performance. Try and give the lads some credit. 👍
  4. Yes, deal in place but if he carries on like this he'll probably have a lot of clubs in for him.
  5. It's no weird really. We've one fit striker and he clearly isn't ready.
  6. Presume it must be an injury to Markanday?
  7. He looked physically stronger against Cov than he'd done all season, he just needs to start contributing more goals and assists. I think confidence is a big thing for a lot of these young lads. Hopefully Dolan's goals gives him a boost.
  8. As I said in my wonderfully insightful pre-match post, Tronstad is clearly still getting up to speed and learning the ways of the JDT master...but there were signs against Cov that Tronny was starting to adapt.
  9. It huge when you score first in this league. Keep going boys!
  10. First post. Gives inside info on Brittain. Has 'britt' in name. I'm no Columbo but...🤔
  11. He's scoring penalties for fun. Did we bid for him, or have any interest?
  12. So he does have a Plan B? 🤔 Did you watch the Watford game, or any of the games in the first half of last season?
  13. Don't think JDT will have much choice today as far as selection goes. Maybe Dolan and JRC will start instead of Hill/Travis, Or maybe Pickering will come back in. I thought we looked more solid at Cov with Hill at RB, he didn't venture forward as much as Brittain/JRC do and so we effectively had 3 CB's a lot of the time. He isn't as good on the ball as the other two but maybe JDT needs to stick with it, especially away from home. I thought Tronstad looked decent when he came on, and you could tell he's been getting the 'pass forward' mantra drilled in to him. Just like Bucko, that was the criticism aimed at him by JDT after his debut. We'll miss Wharton when in possession, but we need Tronstad to make that DM position his own. That was the reason he was bought. Travis couldn't do it last season cos he isn't good enough on the ball, and Wharton is a kid being asked to do the hardest job on the pitch. That's not a criticism of Wharton, I doubt there's anybody better in this league at taking the ball in tight areas and moving it forward. As JDT said, he's PL quality on the ball, but off the ball he has a lot to learn. Wahlstedt Hill Carter Hyam Brittain Travis Tronstad Moran Markanday Szmodics Sigurdsson I fancy us for a 2-1 win. Up the Rovers.
  14. I think my point was that xG is in many ways an indication of the quality of players at your disposal. For example: Good wingers = good crosses = good chances = higher xG. Having a good striker to anticipate and connect with those crosses also helps. Generally, I don't think we've got our just desserts this season, just like during the run-in last season. Luck is always a factor, and we just don't get any. My hope is that changes, my fear is it's just not going to happen for JDT and he'll get frustrated and move on to better things.
  15. xG doesn't take into account who the chances are falling to. There is also no context to xG. If you're smashing balls across the face of goal and you don't have a striker worthy of the name to anticipate them, it won't be accounted for by xG. Similarly, if you get in good positions and all that's missing is the final ball (happens all the time with Rovers), and you don't have players capable of playing the final ball (happens all the time with Rovers) then it won't impact xG. We are excellent box-to-box, the best in the division, but where it matters we fall down time after time. Selling your best keeper and not signing a good quality striker who can remain fit obviously is having a huge impact. We'll see where we are in January when hopefully those issues are resolved.
  16. Robins said: “Yeah, I think so. I think they’re the best team in possession that we’ve played this season here. I like the way they play. They are really good and brave in possession" More praise. JDT is light years ahead of most all managers in this league. If we'd have taken our chances/had more luck we'd be in the top 2. The fact we aren't is on Venky's.
  17. Tomasson on 'strange situation' during Blackburn Rovers loss | Lancashire Telegraph A balanced assessment.
  18. Was that the same ref who allowed their handball at Ewood? Staggering if so.
  19. Agree. Just highlighting why they spent money.
  20. Cov sold £20m+ worth of players this summer, they could afford to buy two strikers for £15m or whatever it was.
  21. Yep, noticeably so. The shape was a lot better. Moran dropped a lot deeper too. Just fuck all threat out wide.
  22. Perhaps. Time will tell. Don't cancel that hotel in London for next May just yet!
