  1. The restraints are fully self inflicted but we didn’t have the wages/wage structure for any of the 3 you mentioned so again I ask the question within our pathetically low structure who would have fit the mould. It’s not a defence of them it’s unequivocally pathetic but when debating these topics we have to keep it in line with the ambition or lack of the club are showing and I think forshaw was the exact replacement that ticked all those boxes we could go all day about why we shouldn’t be in that market etc but the facts are venkys aren’t funding us for player trading like they should be
  2. I get some part of that but what I would come back with is at that stage who (within rovers restraints) was available to fit the championship ready/experienced role they were after? listen Adam forshaw isn’t the answer I’m not supporting his signing at all (I can see logically how/why it makes sense to rovers) but in jan with baker being recalled out of the blue there wouldn’t have been much other options in the mould they wanted
  3. The baker debate is irrelevant because of all the monumental f ups rovers have done Stoke recalling him from his loan spell under a new manager isn’t one of them
  4. I disagree on the Eustace stance. Out dirty laundry was aired publicly for all to see regarding the court case / struggling finances etc well before Eustace too the role. A quick search that any person can do would show the failed windows we have had, the failure of duty of care for some players we messed about all on top of what was already obvious re venkys so ANY manager taking us they should have done their due diligence and if they have and still accept the role then they can’t be surprised
  5. I said the same about Eustace and I double down on it with Val. Iv zero sympathy for him he has to have known about rovers financial struggles and off field issues. He accepted all of this when he signed
  6. Iv already made my peace with the pending season ahead and the circus that is the venkys/pasha run rovers. Buckle up going to be a very bumpy off season
  7. To do what exactly? The owners simply don’t care
  8. So to determine if a player is good or not there has to be live and continuous interest in them? Silly take
  9. Anybody on here who believes we bid for that player needs their heads looked at
  10. No idea I’m just going by their profile alone in stating I wouldn’t be surprised if a club whether it’s champ league one or abroad could offer close to 1mill weve just bought a relative nobody for close to that amount at the same age
  11. Wasn’t used/in the squad the last 5 games of the season. Would take some turnaround
  12. In this day and age I truly wouldn’t be surprised, I could easily see a team offer close to if not 1mill for either
  13. Prime ages massive experience id say ya would fetch at least 1mill each
  14. Firstly I don’t think we will pay any significant fee for any player this off season but playing devils advocate here maybe funds are available for the sales of possibly Buckley / jrc / Dolan compensation / picks? although history does suggest itl likely be someone we don’t want to lose ie tronstad/ travis
  15. Forgot it was a cup game but it’s still a win and an away win same with the draw away to Leeds and Sunderland at home I didn’t say the return was decent but what I’m saying is is that there’s isn’t a direct correlation to trav not playing and bad results
  16. Draw against Sunderland - promoted draw against Leeds - promoted Defeat to hull - awful defeat to Burnley - awful / promoted Defeat to Oxford - poor defeat to Coventry - poor / playoff team wins v boro and Pompey wasn’t an easy fixture list and would have been better if he was playing but I don’t buy that because he was out of the team that’s the main reason for the dip in form as you can see we still picked up decent results
  17. Love Travis want him to stay actually desperately need him to stay however trav played every minute in that 8 game debacle of 6 losses and 2 draws 2/24 the previous rough patch over Xmas he missed 8 games - 4 losses 2 draws 2 wins 8/24
  18. And again just stating that I find it funny how we have went full circle on him that’s all your overthinking my post
  19. Then technically no player is or can be written off until their career is over and in that case it’s not written off it’s a conclusion or evaluation of their career it wasn’t supposed to start a mass debate tbh I just found it funny that some of the same poster who this time last year didn’t want batth near the club are fuming he isn’t getting a 2 year deal now nothing more nothing less than an observation
  20. So what would you call saying ‘don’t need him’ ‘not good enough for Norwich not good enough for us’ ‘too old’ ‘too slow’ and similar comments - that’s writing him off is it not and if it’s not then I don’t know what writing someone off entails then
  21. Absolutely we can form and have opinions no doubting that at all o have many and got many wrong myself but it’s to do with what they do in a rovers shirt and the overall point I’m making as stated above the majority of this forum didn’t want batth and the same folk now want two more years from him.
  22. There’s a greater point to my post and it’s more to do with writing players off before they kick a ball for rovers. Granted the transfer pot were playing in isn’t top tier or even second tier and some of the names linked are unknowns or maybe not super inspiring but batth prime example that in some cases (certainly won’t be in all) let’s judge on their output and performance for rovers as opposed to other clubs fans views/youtube etc
  23. It’s funny how this has all come full circle in 1 year. Many poster on here actually the majority of posters on here were sceptical of his signing last season said he was past it his injury record was a concern couldn’t get on for Norwich and was done. Now there’s an uproar he can’t get a two year contract (some of the same posters too) brilliant
  24. Who it harms I’m not sure all Iv said is that I’m not totally against them being reluctant in handing a 35 year old a two year deal - as like anyone on here it’s a personal opinion. Of all the madness and low balling and crap they have put us through and continue to put us through this would fall at the bottom of my list would I like batth to stay yes of course but merely saying if it’s a 2 year deal or nothing scenario with him then I’m fine with them moving on
  25. Don’t disagree with anything you said but as it stands my response to you saying that’s guesswork is correct
