JRC is having a stinker. Most are, to be fair. Gueye has Gallager's Leap syndrome 😞 -

Don't get behind him in the stands 😉 Gueye doesn't get into enough goal scoring positions to increase convert chances, slightly reminiscent of a previous incumbent named Gallager...I wonder if we should consider the reverse of the Sutton switch, and convert him into a centre half? Either way, there needs to be some rub of the green at some point for either Mak or Yuki, which might see an upswing in their confidence in front of goal, which would be very timely going into the fixture congestion over the next few weeks. I'm hoping that Rovers form will be maintained, and the recent momentum extended, but am aware we may also suffer the seasonal blues as in previous years. That said, why should a different manager and a largely different group of players do anything other than plan for each game as it comes, and ignore what other Rovers sides have delivered in the past? I always want us to win at Wednesday, ever since the kicking me and my family took in the Leppings Lane end years ago, when we were 3-0 up by half time courtesy of Bob (the flapper) Bolder.. COYB! -

If Yuki plays, someone needs to lay him a couple of chances on a plate, rather than him having to battle away to create his own. The sooner he breaks his barren streak the better the rest of the season for the lad and for Rovers too. It will be calmer conditions than Saturday, and plenty of pitch to go at for our players to run at theirs. Not expecting anything but our arse handed to us from this one, for no other reason than all good things come to an end eventually. Having said that, it also means that anything we do get from the game is a bonus. Its the Championship, it's a Tuesday evening, it is Yarkshire. What could possibly go wrong? COYB! -

The Owls had a hard game against the Nobbers yesterday too, so I'm not too fussed about the short gap between games. It is a big pitch at Hillsborough, and there will be ample room for players going forward and pressing the opposition on both sides. I'd be more confident if our strikers were finding the net than I am with goals coming from elsewhere in the team. We do look vulnerable at times at the back, which someone is going to exploit at some point, but then again we also look quite threatening when moving the ball forward.. Time for someone with the quality of Cantwell to tee up a few sitters for Yuki, so he can get his confidence back (he's going all Ciccio Grabbi at the moment in my view) and once he does, I'm sure he will go on to have a great season. Hoping for: Owls 0 Rovers 2 Hillsborough Hoodoo: Yarkshire 1 Lancashire firing blanks Hooray for Tuesday: Hooters 0 Rampant Roverites 3 COYB! -

Keep the ball on the ground lads. The gusty stuff will last the duration of the game, and won't add anything positive to the entertainment value (unless it is the ball blowing into the Hull goal off Yuki's head or Mak's arse). Wrap up well all who are trekking East this afternoon. It is going to be a wet and flatulent farce. -

And the forecast is worsening for the Hull region, to include 65-70 mph gusts of wind, and constant rain from 2pm through match time. Don't be surprised if this is called off shortly. -

Good! I think we perform better when we are the underdogs 😉 The weather is likely to be a factor tomorrow, with wind gusts of up to 70mph forecast for the East coast around kick off time tomorrow. Not going to be one for the purists.. if it goes ahead at all 😉 COY windy Blues! -

The script is obvious, with Rovers tails up and Hull's heads down, Rovers on an upswing and Hull on a downward slide, Rovers showing team spirit and gelling well as a unit and Hull in disarray... Yup. Head: M62 Mob 0 Rovers 1 (ball spins over the line off Yuki's bum, propelled by a howling gale from the North Sea) Heart: East Riding Robbers 2 East Lancashire Lunatics 0 (familiar frailties and individual errors bite us in the backside) Hopeful Punt: Bridge Boys 0 Mill town Marauders 3 (Cantwell, Ohashi, Dolan) -

I'm definitely expecting us to lose this one, based on my experience of Rovers over the last 52 years or so... I'm thinking about the pattern so far this year too, with the Plymouth debacle being a case in point where we more or less gifted a result to a side otherwise getting nothing from their overblown bloaty mcBloatfaced manager. More than happy to eat humble pie if proven wrong, and will hold my hands up in the event that we do come back down the M62 singing like blue and white trolls. -

I think everyone gets that, but nobody expects Rovers to win this, so hence there is less pressure, hence a free hit -

Today is a free hit in many ways, against one of the big spending big ambition big pike of nothing sides in the division. With confidence running higher following our recent upturn in form, I expect the lads to be up for this, and to give it a go. The arrogance of this lot dies stick in the craw somewhat, so it would be great if we could show an ability to compete, although we don't have the resources to match their strength in depth. Let's hope for a good showing by the Rovers, but let's also not get too despondent if it doesn't go our way . It is an ideal game for Cantwell to shine, Travis to show us his eye for a pass, and Yuki to rediscover his scoring boots. Come On You Blues! -

What a result! Not what I expected. But every point counts, and momentum can be built on a bit of good fortune like we enjoyed this evening. Pears didn't really have much to do either, so I think we were worth the win! -

Gueye is the wrong choice of sub - makes us change the style that has served us well so far this game - Leonard would have done the same role as Yuki, for me. -

I guess it is symptomatic of this being a mid-week game with little prospect of a positive result, that we are at less than 2 full pages of anticipatory comment less than 3 hours from kick off...Maybe most folk aren't even aware that there's a game on tonight?? Ruddy part timers 🙂 Here's hoping the Rovers give us all something worthwhile remembering this evening... Fingers and everything else crossed. COYB!! -
