150th Anniversary kit/celebrations
GHD replied to Proudtobeblue&white's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
I’ve always understood it to be where the Nat West Bank stands now -
Thanks Matty! But that doesn’t fit Chaddy’s agenda
-
And yet you complain about VAR holding the game up
-
It’s only a matter of time before the Premier League pander to Sky’s long held objective of having breaks in play to broadcast adverts. Do you think some in the stadium will welcome that as, at least, they’ll be able to pour a cup of coffee from their thermos, every 20 minutes or so, without missing a kick

Locker room? That says it all

Feeling closer to the players??? Fans have never been further away from players than they are now

Agree wholeheartedly! If the colours aren’t reversed, it’s not a Rovers shirt -

I clearly remember an AGM when Chairman Bill Fox, in an answer to a shareholder, clearly stated that there was evidence to show that Rovers had never changed their colours. He went on to say the only variation had been the shade of blue, and the founding colours were Cambridge blue and white quarters, or halves in modern parlance. I do wonder if the pictures showing a white shirt are in fact a very pale blue and white shirt which the quality of photography in the day, has has not picked up. -
These are taken from “Things about Blackburn Rovers” by Harry Kay 1948. The capacity of Ewood when the game was played would be about 53,000, so I guess the Riverside capacity would be 20,000 to 25,000

And always calls us Blackburn

If anything it was Winterburn who was guilty of gamesmanship. He was happy to waste time and let the ball run for a goal kick until Sutton challenged him.

Venky’s (& Suhail) Out Protest Ideas
GHD replied to DuffsLeftPeg's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
Even the Ewood Express is not unique to the Venky’s era. During John Williams stewardship, and well before they came on the scene, Rovers provided free tickets and subsidised buses, to schools in and OUTSIDE of Blackburn with Darwen -
I agree inprinciple with what you say but there are plenty of local charities, supporting people in the areas of the fan base, which would benefit from any surplus donations. The East Lancashire Hospice on Park Lee Road being a prime example.

Pity the borolad who plays at being a CEO isn’t as sympathetic -
Were you at Anfield in May 1995?

My cousin is a massive Rovers fan, who now lives in Warrington, and was born in 1924. He now rarely gets to Ewood but apart from failed eyesight his other senses are as sharp as ever. At his 100th party last year he gave a very amusing speech, with many references to his early days as a Rover.- 78 replies

Or was Tomasson told to prefer Pears? -

That’s because he was the best judge of whether or not he could get to a shot, he was very rarely beaten when he went to make a save. I have made that point to my PNE supporting friends and none disagree. Fred Else is one of the three best Rovers goalkeepers I have been privileged to see
