  1. I think as a defensive option Grella will get the holding role but I think Culina as a third 'forward' lacks scoring ability I thought Culina played well for us when he came from right midfield and put the ball through across the three attackers, I would hate to see if Viduka was holding the ball up for him and he couldn't put it in the back of the net something Thompson has been doing on a regular basis. In saying all this though Guus is the master, I have going through with my mate on the team and he has certianly looked at the options. He can play 3-4-3, 4-4-2, 4-3-3 and 4-5-1 without making changes to the starting line up such is the versatility.
  2. In normal circumstances I would agree with you, but under Guus he has played quite superbly in that position Guus plays 2 central defenders with either 'wing back' dropping back for assistance depending on the side of the feild the attack is coming down. His philosophy is always to have one more defender then attackers, 1 up front he will get Emerton and Lazaridis/Chipperfield to push forward though against Brazil with 3 attackers he will play a back four with Emerton possibly on the right wing with Neill dropping into the fullback position and Popovic/Beauchamp sitting next to Moore. I think the midfield will stand up, he has defensive options in Grella and Skoko but the attacking midfield option is very strong with Kewell, Bresciano and Cahill with Culina performing very well currently at club and international level. A lot will rest with Moore in defence but he always performs at international level, so I am confident we might get through to the second round. My main issue with the team has always been upfront but Viduka, under Hiddink, can now at least play the target man role supplying the ball to his two support players in Kewell and Thompson. Some of the players are ring-ins but the versatility in the squad is what I am impressed with half and half being able to play back and forward. I didn't notice bfore either but he has gone for some guys with Bundesliga experience as well, no doubt a plus for conditions.
  3. He has those kind of performances in him, hopefully he has it out of his system now and can lift to the level we saw in Sydney
  4. Everyone is going on about Walccot speed being able to turn ageing defences inside out You do all realise that he still has to be able to put the ball in the back of the net?
  5. I thought Scott McDonald had done enough for selection in the forwards Dissapointed there was no room for L. Milicevic, McKain, Elrich, Brosque, Carney or Thwaite Good balance though with Emerton and Chipperfield being able to play back on the left and right and Sterjovski up front or on the wing I am quite worried about the central defenders without Vidmar but Neill did a sterling job there for the Uruguay qualifiers and Moore always performs for Australia. I would have left Popovic out for Milicevic and Wilkshire out for Brosque or Carney Strongest formation stands as this then Schwarzer Neill Moore Emerton Lazaridis Culina Cahill Bresciano Thompson Kewell Viduka
  6. Is he going down the right path? On the brink of greatness? Poor kid, if he fails he will have the weight of a nation crushing his spirit and any future career aspirations he had
  7. Firstly Big Phil won the World Cup with many pundits said was the weakest Brazilian team ever, and the portugal team of Euro was not the best team they have had in ages. The Golden Generation of Rui Costa, Figo, Baia, Costa, Sousa and Sa Pinto were rated as a much better team. If Scolari takes the job England will win the next European Championship. If Big Sam takes it he will waste the amount of attacking talent you have available.
  8. Nah, it is Gen 3, they only use firewire or power adapter for charging
  9. and a 120,000 on the plane back the next day after they get kicked out for destroying the place
  10. Found something out, when I listen to the music it keeps it's battery, when I hook it up to USB to download it uses battery very quickly. I knew USB used quite a bit of power ut sheesh. Hopefully this fixes my problem.
  11. Well I have left a post ofr the apple discussion baord, so we will see how it goes. In the meantime I have found a handy little link to try and get a new one.
  12. I am charging from mains supply, there has been no change at all after changing out batteries. I have tried resetting and restoring the iPod, running it down and recharging fully, hacked to get rid of the powerbar and replace with a meter. It just keeps chewing the juice. 30 gig iPod and I can't get 20 minutes to update on the computer!! Does anyone know if there is a helpdesk email or something?
  13. Barca V Arse in the final is looking mouthwatering. Viera was very dissapointing on his return to Highbury and Henry had the ball on a string. When he is playing like that he just makes the opposition look silly. We are going to look mighty good there next year
  14. I have just changed my iPod battery out for a new one and it still doesn't hold a charge for lonmger then 20 minutes. Anyone else had this problem or works at Apple or knows who I need to stalk to get this fixed?
  15. I felt sorry for Tromso The difference is that all those players left to go to a bigger and better club He wouldn't get a game at Manc
  16. What the f*** are you talking about? What racist term did I use? Whether or not the English use the term Paki as a racist term doesn't mean we do in Australia. Shortened phrases are the what make 'Aussie' slang.
  17. Our problem was hiring English labour, should have sent a ship full of Paki's and Indians to do the job If you look at figures and the final product there is no way you can go past the Germans, what they have done to their stadiums for the WC on that budget is amazing. 192 million euros for the Gelsenkirchen Stadium retractable roof, extendable pitch and world class facilites, the reconstruction of the Berlin Olympic 242 million Euros, Waldstadion 126 million euros, they could have built 3 or 4 Wembleys for the same cost.
  18. They all have at least one vowel in their name?
  19. Play the foul as it looks to the naked eye, then go back later on with the video like they do with other incidents and charge the player from there. 5 or 6 weeks on the sideline would surely slow the Christina's of the world.
  20. Only if it was on a Jansen type deal
  21. He has changed considerably since he first took charge of the England team. He used to play a beautiful expansive game with Benfica and Lazio
  22. I am aware of his exploits, I just asked is he better then Sven. I think if anything Sven is a much better attacking manager and suits the English player style better
  23. Capello? Is he any better then Sven? I always sign that Spalletti bloke as my Assistant Manager in FM
  24. I don't really know, I just really hate it when a team underperforms year after year after year yet people still 'rate' them. In this case it is because somehow McLaren appears to have fooled everyone into believing he is a good manager, when he has achieved bugger all as top dog. I suppose I am jealous in a way as well because although I don't think on any level they will ever be as good as Rovers yet they still find a way to find the cash to either sign a decent player (and then waste them) or attract the higher calibre player to a club that is not going anywhere.
