  1. Yes, but were the fuse timings on the grenades realistic?
  2. :-( Seriously unfunny news.
  3. Let off some party-poppers and wear some party hats and we'll all have a big clap.
  4. Would he have appreciated a statue? He seemed (although I never met him) a very modest low-key kind of guy despite his laudable achievements. That's not to say there shouldn't be a memorial, just make it something that's fitting.
  5. Well, I wasn't expecting that. Gob-smacked, and very much saddened.
  6. Depends whether you see England as a single collective entity (in which case it's "is") or a collection of individuals (in which case it's "and"). Either word is acceptable.
  7. You've not seen shawshank? Get out here. Watched In Like Flint at the weekend. It wasn't Citizen Kane by any means, but enjoyable 60's kitsch nonetheless.
  8. I had an out-of-body experience last time I had a curry.
  9. I didn't hate it, but it could've been much better than it was. Good premise.
  10. Just watched The Hangover. It certainly had its moments, and did make me laugh out loud a few times. Not really amazing though.
  11. Just updated framerater and have now drawn level on the IMDB top 250 with Glenn (77 films). I pity anyone who's determined to see all 250 and has yet to watch Seven Samurai. It's so dull and boring!
  12. Just finished watching Battle of Algiers. Wow, now that was a quality film. Shot documentary-style, it details the battle between the French colonialists and the independence-seeking FLN. The rooting out of terrorists, the civil disobediance, torture sessions, bombs plated in roadside cafes, soldiers being ambushed, the cycle of terrorism and counter-terrorism, modern-day analogues, guns hidden under burqas, it's got the lot. Shot in the sixties in grainy black and white, it's 2 hours of cool. Comes in at #228 in the IMDB top 250. Trailer:
  13. Best fight scene ever:
  14. He's like a cross between Hulk Hogan and Harry Hill.
  15. Bloody hell, I needed to wear a diaper reading that. What a loon.
  16. Bas Rutten at the start of this vid - NUTTER! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mYmfmwUc3p8
  17. If people voted for their feet, things would change because they'd be no money to be made out of it. I'm quite happy to eat only a small amount of meat. I think people don't want to know how their burger came to be on their plate, or how they were able to buy their Christmas turkey so cheaply. Maybe the meat fairy plucked it off the meat tree for them. i don't know what people are thinking about animal welfare or food quality when they're tucking into their 99p burger.
  18. Can't really take issue with any of that. I think there's a big problem with people not caring how the meat gets to their table, they're quite happy not to give it a second thought. Which is probably also why people are happy enough to chuck food away, they've not been in a situation where food has been at a premium. Also, if people knew the provenance of the burgers and hot dogs they were eating at McDonald's/ the cinema etc they'd probably puke it up on the spot. Alternatively, if people were told they could eat as much meat as they liked, but they had to slaughter their own animals, then you'd probably see rates of vegitarianism soaring. As far as I'm aware, the human body was only designed to eat a modicum of meat, so I think we should all be eating less anyway. If we all regarded meat as a treat, rather than a disposable product that's 2-a-penny, and concentrated on a healthy diet then half of these problems would disappear. Dare I say it, the NHS would probably be grateful as well? And I think I read somewhere that the optimum population of the UK was 30 million.
  19. Just watched Long Good Friday. God, do I hate that ending?! Very good film, not that crime films are my thing.
  20. I know, it's such a surreal, pathetic way to go. It's not sinking in.
  21. Just feel totally numb, what a surreal, needless and pitiful way for a man to lose his life. I feel very sorry for his family, and also for law-abiding, decent fans who had this happen right before their own eyes.
  22. Would it be to do with having a hitherto-undetected weak heart?
  23. He's not dead yet Dan, well according to reports. Let's hope this guy makes it.
  24. I understand your anger, he's treated rovers with zero respect, when he's been here for a number of years, drawing a no-doubt significant wage, whilst performaing fitfully, and noit always being fully fit! However, I have to ask, am i the only person who couldn't care less? It's water off a duck's back, totally in accordance with the attitude of today's players who are just paid far too much for their endeavours. We move on.
  25. It's so frustrating to see someone not make the most of their talent. When some people have to bust their balls just to get by, and this guy abuses his privileges, puts on weight when he's paid to be fit, plays well and puts in an effort when it suits him and for all of this he's paid a king's ransom (and that's before bonuses), then something is very very wrong. He might have a fortune in the bank, but he's very poor in spirit.
