[Archived] Citeh To Sack Barton?

Keegan says everyone deserves a second chance, I think this guy's had more than just the two chances. -
Nah, it's not a drive-in, that would be too cool! It's a stand-up cinema right next door to Lake Geneva. Apparently they hand out plastic ponchos if it rains, they only call it off if there's gail-force winds. Should be different. :-)

Going to be watching Dark Knight in a few weeks at an open-air cinema. :-)

I can't see how they could top Terminator 2, it's the dogs swingers.

[Archived] Holiday Reading
broadsword replied to colin's topic in I Can't Believe It's Not Football Archive
Just finished reading "Home Run" by John Nichol and Tony Rennell. It's a great piece of non-fiction, the story of war-time evaders in occupied territory. something that's quite close to home for John Nichol (one of the RAF pilots caught and tortured by the Iraqis and put on TV in Gulf War 1). Evocative is definitely the word, it brings it all remarkably to life with the help of the accounts of the people who were there. You feel like you're there yourself, it's that good. One account in particular brought a tear to my eye, it was quite affecting, but I shall say no more, and let you find out for yourself. Best book I've read in many a year. Gripping, informative and most of all, very humbling. -

Gotta laugh. How about instead of an iris scan, a sphincter scan? If you're an azzhole, you don't get in? -

Just another tool to scare the population. The government has proved time and time again that it can't manage any IT project. Undoubtedly some data would get screwed up. Who fancies spending over a month in a cell because their details got mixed up with someone else's? I see no advantages in stopping terrorism, and only disadvantages (impaired liberty, probability of errors, enormous cost, poor utility especially given cost). Please no, we don't want them. I hate my government, I just cannot wait for them to get kicked out, they are useless. They waste so much damn cash it's unbelievable. I am definitely having a party the day that fool gets kicked out of number 10. -

Calling him a thug is being kind to him. If he was a dog, he'd be put down. -

Not a clue, really Eddie! I'll definitely be out for a few pints, other than that, I just want to take it easy. I might go and see the Rodin Museum. But I'm not really the arty-farty type, so I wouldn't want to spend too much time in museums. Isn't there a tethered balloon in the Citroen Park? And is there a funfair on at the moment? Have the put the false beach in yet? I don't have too much time to play with ... TGV gets me in at Gare de Lyon at 12:45ish on the Samedi, leaving about 7pm the next day ... -

Samba wasn't free either. -
Haven't seen the latest Indy film yet, but I probably will. Shame they left it so long. There surely won't be a fifth one. I never did like Temple of Doom much. Really liked the Last Crusade though.

[Archived] Duff Completes Switch
broadsword replied to pick32's topic in Football Messageboard Archive
Hold on, we can't have this "Duff enjoyed his best days at Rovers" rubbish, that would mean the coaching staff at the time would've known what they were doing. And of course he enjoyed his best days under Souness. Nah, can't be having that, rant rant rant! :s -
[Archived] Glazer Set For Utd
broadsword replied to ainscough99's topic in Football Messageboard Archive
What's the other way of expressing that Man Utd are living on the never-never and will be looking for a life-saver if ever their income drops? It's all their in black-and-white, they have to be mega-successful just in order to service their debts. Philip is hardly a lone voice in saying this. People like the Glazers are parasites, living off the host, not caring if it dies aftwards. They haven't put in a penny of their own money. -
[Archived] "global Warming"
broadsword replied to EIEIEIO's topic in I Can't Believe It's Not Football Archive
Is it? Global temperatures have actually fallen in the last 5 or 6 years. In the seventies we were meant to be entering a new ice age. Not worried about that now, are we? I used to believe in it, now I am incredibly sceptical about the whole thing. It's alright saying "reduce your carbon footprint" but in teh end, all that carbon will get used up, all you are doing is retarding the rate at which it is getting released into the atmosphere. Well actually, you're not really, since whether or not you use energy-saving lightbulbs, or whether you offset your carbon emissions when you take a flight or whether you cycle to work, it makes sod all difference of 5 of stuff all on a planet with 9 bn people, where a new power station is opened in China every week. I mean, honestly, leaving my TV on standby? It has a 1 W power consumption! What is the point? There is none. Global warming is pretty far from a "fact", it is a theory. Best way to hold power, or to gain it, is to scare the living bejeebus out of people. It's a nice little money-spinning, this global warming ar$e. -
That just isn't funny!

[Archived] Parents Warn Your Kids!
broadsword replied to ABBEY's topic in I Can't Believe It's Not Football Archive
They're playing up to his odd-ball image, I think it's absolutely disgraceful, but pretty much par for the course for the Sun. I think for teh early series of Bergerac, that place was actually used as the Police headquarters, not sure if you knew that. Very spooky. -

That Sun "article" about Jimmy Saville is absolutely outrageous, I'd be doing my nut if I was Jim. They're basically accusing him of having something to hide. I wouldn't wipe my ass with that poxy rag. -
