  1. That one where they're dangling around on ropes, that got on my nerves. So contrived. And not at all exciting. Couple of action scenes ripped straight off from Bourne. I'd give it a 6/10 overall, whereas Casino Royale got 10/10. Too revisionist, too un-involving.
  2. Watched United 93 last night, never seen it before. Excellent film, but I really shouldn't have watched it after a stressful day at work. it got me so bloody angry I sat there watching it with my fists clenched.
  3. Good, and is it true that he wears a cardigan in this one? Watched Thunderball last night, where they've upgraded the picture, you could see the make-up covering Connery's tattoos.
  4. Opinions are like assholes I guess. Going to see it this coming Friday. I do hope it's not going to be too like Bourne - Bond should have its own identity and not try to mimic other franchises. The guy in the Independent said it was, low on exposition and a series of mini-set pieces, swiftly moving onto the next one. He also said it's moved on in terms of M's office, she has some horrible clinical office, and he pined for the old days of bernard Lee's oak-panelled job. I knwo what he means, and I really don't like M being played by a woman, M should be a crusty old bloke with a pipe. Well, perhaps not that stereotyped.
  5. Saw "In Bruges" last night, haven't laughed so much in bloody ages.
  6. Just watched Salvador again on DVD. Very powerful film, difficult to watch at times.
  7. Saw Indiana Jones 4 last night, what a total pile of crud. It was so totally awful George Lucas should be taken outside and shot immediately.
  8. The point was that your archetypal "scrote", as defined by the "London Centric" media, isn't necessarily Northern, and is probably more likely to come from London as elsewhere.
  9. Not seen the film, but can I just say that that sentence is total and utter tosh.
  10. Never, ever, forgotten.
  11. Behave yourself! :-)
  12. That was one of the worst Bond films ever, easily. Right up there with "View to a Kill".
  13. The later Brosnan films were just terrible full-stop. He only did one decent one and that was his first film. Not necessarily his fault though, the scripts were just plain awful. And John Cleese in a Bond film? No.
  14. Not sure what you mean: "non make", maybe it was the police car at the airport?
  15. WHAT?! Are you serious? Looking forward to Quantum of Solace and Crank 2. The first Crank film made me laugh out loud, I thought it was hysterical, but what do I know?
  16. The critics have panned it completely. I'd have thought Jason Statham has better things to do these days. Saw Bucket List Friday night, made me chuckle at times. And Flight Plan last night, bit of an old one. It passed the time, only really interesting in the last 20 minutes, but it was alright. Oh, and I saw Rambo recently too. Terrible dialogue and acting, barely makde it to feature length. I think the absolutely insane amounts of gore were meant to distract you from the paper-thin plotting, dialogue and charecterisation. At times some of Stallone's lines were unintentionally hysterical. This is not a compliment.
  17. Watched Run Lola, run yesterday, a german film with Franka Potente in it. Definitely not your usual sort of movie! Really liked the premise, and it worked quite well.
  18. Just finished reading a biography of Percy Cerutty, "Why Die?" Percy was an Australian athletics coach in the 'fifties and 'sixties. Very interesting bloke whose ideas on training have now found more widespread acceptance. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Percy_Cerutty As I say, an interesting bloke, you don't have to be a hardcore athletics fan to get something out of the book. Next up, "Last King of Scotland"
  19. Cracked me up: http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/europe/7584682.stm
  20. Saw "Street Kings" on DVD last night ... wasn't too impressed. Keanu Reeves - not his best performance Hugh Laurie - woefully miscast Forest Whittaker - bit of class, helps lift the film Plot - didn't exactly see it all coming a mile off, but some of it was pretty obvious. A major let-down, really. Was expecting so much better.
  21. Pyback is a load of drivel compared to teh masterpiece that is Point Blank. Now that is a cracking film. payback isn't strictly a re-make of Point Blank, but they're both based on the same book. Mind you, I should be an unbiased judge as Mel Gibson gets up my nose.
  22. Yep, the server is now being subsidised by that Church in Texas that demonstrates at soldiers funerals. You and I are going to have to have words now, boy! You've turned yer back on Jesus, and that simply won't do!
  23. Only Man City could find a millionaire backer who looks luike he will be cut off from all of his money and sent down for a good few years. Hahhahahahahaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa! Absolutely hysterical. Nice one Mark Hughes! :-)
  24. Don't think he did, but he did kiss the badge, of course. This would be different maybe, because he's said it after he's left. Not the same player who fluorished under us. It really is remarkable the number of players and managers who make their name with us, the decide to go where the grass is greener and it blows up in their face. You'd think people would eventually learn.
  25. Didn't he have to use a voice synthesizer in the film?
