[Archived] Citeh To Sack Barton?
broadsword replied to LeChuck's topic in Football Messageboard Archive
Wasn't it earlier in the year that Barton was saying that he's more sinned-against than sinning; that he's a victim of circumstance more than anything else. He's been in trouble so many times that his previous statements are really stretching credibility. Having a brother do life for murder probably doesn't help. I think Barton needs some form of assistance, whether it be counselling or whatever, otehrwise this stuff is going to keep on happening again and again and again. Or maybe he's just a bad apple, who can tell? -

Mourinho is over-rated and was never interested. He was trying to keep his name in the 'papers, that's all. -
He may well be, but I'm not fooled into thinking that F1 is a sport, it's a processing of car-sized fag adverts. Where would Hamilton be if him and Button swapped motors? Where would Button be? It's easy to win when you have the best car (and let's not forget he committed several naughty manoeuvres throughout the year). Boxing, however, is a sport, and I was shocked but pleased to see Joe win. Although I agree with Colin, teh programme is a bloody farce. I just hope he now goes on to paste Hopkins all over teh place after what Hopkins has said.

Not sure if it's an attempt to get Curbishley out of the West Ham job. I did think it was noteworthy that clever Trevor wants someone who is currently west Ham manager, sounds a bit too close to home to me. But in any case, he's bloody useless. You don't need to set fire to his wife's dress to see that. -

In the 'paper to day ... Brooking wants Curbishley as manager. God help us, he'd be worse than frigging McClaren! -

Opinion polls aren't perfect. I've always, always been against them (ID cards). The thought that they may be brought iun by an over-bearing, money-grabbing, wasteful and incompetent government, and implemented by 100 chimps with a 100 typewriters, oh I do beg your pardon, I mean civil service, is scary. Totally agree with philipl's last post. -

It made me laugh, and summed things up when Owen said that no Croatian player would get in the England team. Even after 12 games where we finish out of the places, they still are deluded enough to think they're better. It's incredible. A few reality checks are needed. -

When Stuart Pearce tells you you have your players training too hard, then they're definitely training too hard. I'm not sure how much money he's spent, but to be fair to Keane, a first season in the premiership is hard for most teams. I will give him the benefit of the doubt and see what happens in their second season (if they stay up ...) And to be fair, Kenwynne wasn't a bad buy. But I do think some people get distracted by what a boss did as a player, anmd look on their managerial exploits more favourably than they should. And example of this was people calling for Hendry to be installed as a defensive coach at Rovers ... -

No, I didn't mean it like that. I was making a general piint about experience, a lack of experience you couldn't accuse Jackie of. The only thing against him is being out of the game for so long, that's why I think he is a non-starter. -

Fishing I would guess. He hasn't been a manager for how long now? A complete non-starter. It's a very important job and you need someone with experience. We can't afford to take any gambles. -

The procedures are there, but were disregarded by a junior member of staff who was probably over-worked, underpaid, and couldn't give a to55. Perhaps something to do with out-sourcing and getting best value for the tax payer, leaving those left behind totally apathetic? Or perhaps they're just fricking useless. In any case, ID cards are surely dead in the water now. If they did come in, I'd suspect there'd be significant amounts of civil disobedience. -

I think Graham Taylor was better. Feel sorry for McClaren, he is clearly way out of his league. The obvious problem is the pillocks at the FA whjo can't appoint anything other than yes men. -

Was thinking to myself this morning ... you only used to get teh England gig if you had been at the top of Club football for a number of years. Steve McClaren hadn't been a club manager for very long, and for teh money he spent hadn't achieved much, now Shearer wants it, whgat a disaster that would be. They've got to sack McClaren and give it to O'Neill in my book. -

We'll never get anywhere near to winning anything with that prune in charge. Good, because he's even worse than McLaren or however you spell the dozy git's name. If we qualify then McLaren will limp and surely shaft up another tournament and then get off to a rip-roaring cock-up of a start to the next qualifiers. I think the best long-term outcome for English footy is for us to shag it up big-style on Weds. And then massacre the blazers at the FA and put someone in place who knows what they're doing. And tehn get a decent manager in. Someone who has a track record of success. -
