  1. “We shouldn’t forget that Leo Wahlstedt has a lot of potential and he’s probably played more than he thought he would, but that was the situation. He’s got a lot of good experience for the future.

“You always need competition in each position. We know that Leo came from a lower level and hadn’t played at a high level for some years, but the club saw a high potential for the future."

Does he actually have any bloody say in transfer policy?

What an absolute idiot. My feeling is similar to Gavlar's, and this Nathan guy would fit in well in Airstrip 1. He'd be right there claiming we've never been at war with East Asia and Emmanuel Goldstein is the source of every problem.

Essentially we must always assume that people are stupid when it comes to Venky's and their ownership, and are inclined to be happy with less.

If there is hope, it lies with the proles.

A quick glance at the TL gets even worse:

Venkys maintaining their position as one of the best ownerships in the league. They have been for years! Pumping money in year after year after year.

The support Venkys have put in to #rovers is incredible and would be more if not for ffp. Yes they were badly advised to begin with but the club is stable and competitive because of them. Without them the club wouldn’t exist.

"One of the best ownerships in the league" but he's "not saying they're great, or even good".

I think you do point out one very important fact, for those wanting us to go into administration. As well as all those highly paid footballers - who would be released from their contracts anyway - there are also a number of far less well paid staff who rely on the club for their income. Though it does feel like a death from a thousand cuts - having them keep us out of administration is preferable for me - and just cling to the hope that the stars align and either a new Jack Walker comes along or we get into the Premiership (if Coyle can do it - there is always hope 🙂 )

The only counter I can think of to that is , how many business have been affected by our decline over the last thirteen years? How many jobs have already been lost? Would it not be better to go one step back so that we can go two steps forward?

I don't know, I certainly don't have all the answers, and especially in these currently times I don't want people to lose their jobs

But I'm very confident we're going nowhere but down should venkys cling onto us.

I still don't know why they want to keep us, it completely bamboozles me

They're billionaires (apparently). We're nothing to them, except a minor item at the bottom of the balance sheet. They could just stick Rovers in the metaphorical bottom drawer as a bad investment gone wrong, to be forgotten about and allowed to wither on the vine.

We could slip down the divisions and into non-league and still they might not bother. There's very little that is easily apparent that would ever force them to go away

But how can they keep us alive financially if the courts choke the funding? It's surely an ever present risk?

Why they've even wanted to continue to this point, let alone carry on beyond it, is completely beyond me.

Maybe I'll just a wishful thinker, because the last thirteen years as a football fan have been absolutely purgatory

  6. Businesses are threatened with winding up orders all the time?

How many times were rovers threatened with winding up by HMRC before venkys turned up? If it ever happened, which I doubt, it would've been in the days when milk in tea was rationed and all post was sent out second class.

This is a story alright, and it's the first I've heard of it. It would only take the judge having a bad day and we're right in it as has been said

  7. Yeah it's a good point, when just was hired, we didn't have these restrictions. Can't remember who his number two is, but presumably he'd go as well and possibly we'd appoint Mike Sheron.

It's desperate days. But nothing will get better until venkys go. If we had six pints get is say we were definitely down. We may still be down but I think next season is more likely

Rovers fans: ‘we desperately need some experience, we’re lacking a striker and some leadership, especially in the middle of the park’.

    Rovers: ‘hold my beer’.

Would this be something to do with buying players and flogging them for a profit?

I think we'll stay up this year but go down next unless there's significant changes. This sort of strange signing doesn't help

I’m honestly at that stage now where I’m falling out of love with the club, rapidly. When you consider we’ve got some excellent young players (A Wharton), players who graft (Szmodics) and a manager who’s young and hungry, it’s a shame and quite frankly disgraceful that I’m not the only one in the same situation.

Can't argue with any of that, it's exactly how I feel.

Only thing I would say is there's probably more reasons to be pissed off that we can think of, but thirteen years is a long time, and s what you have listed is more than sufficient reason to long for the day when venkys bugger off

  10. Bleeding ada, won the hearts of the fan base, Christ almighty.

It's like Winston Smith learning to love big brother.

I remember the scene where he goes into a back street pub thinking if there's hope it lies with the proles, then he realises the proles are an absolute state and there's no hope.

It's a moment of utter despair. Much how I feel at the moment.

We've never played in the fourth tier, does it really beckon?

I agree. I've understood the concerns of some about the 'going into admin' scenario over recent years, but I don't think there can be much doubt from anyone about the route and direction we are currently following under these owners, anyway. The club is slowly (but increasingly) dying, right now. Or, perhaps, being killed. The value of the club, in several senses, not just financial, including to many long-standing supporters, is plummeting and relegation, if not this season then next, looks inevitable.

I find most Rovers match days unbearable now. There is no pleasure in them, nor in seeing how our club has been torn apart and left a shell of what it had been. So, I'll take the administration, the relegation if necessary, now if it means rid of Venky's and a chance to start a rebuild - because ultimately, that seems unavoidable, so let's crack on if we can. Until they fuck off, we cannot even begin again and we will lose more supporters, sponsors, respect in the game etc etc. Perhaps, in the end, even the club itself.

    Yes that's how I feel.

The question is, when will they clear off? I feel like that little Dutch boy in a bridge too far, who keeps asking his dad when the allies are coming.

    "Soon".

To whoever was defending Venkys on this thread (site crashes if I try to click on quotes so I can't reply). Fair enough if Venkys want to cut our cloth accordingly.  They are pumping money in but have FFP and whatever their issue with the Indian government is. It sounds like excuses to me but I'll suspend my disbelief for arguments sake.

However if they wanted to do it efficiently and sensibly why have Steve Waggott as our CEO who has made terrible decision after terrible decision in his time here? A man who hasn't prepped for the lack of money and instead allowed the appointment of staff more suited to a team vying for promotion?

Because they are terrible terrible owners and it's always been the case. Venkys out.

Yes the VenkyMeter is showing thirteen years, and the ride isn't over yet. They've totally worn me out. Defeats make no impact on me any more. Venkys on the hoardings plastered all round the ground, Venkys on the shirts even now. Thirteen years of humiliation, frustration and decay, playthings of dark lords and the third rate.

Why they don't just put us up for sale I don't know. I don't think I can do another thirteen years of this.
