Good read this
https://www.theguardian.com/football/blog/2023/jul/01/football-clubs-communities-fans-owners
One part stood out
"nobody should believe private equity or a state will have any compunction about abandoning a club once it has served its usefulness."
Just trying to imagine how we're useful to venkys boggles the mind. How can we stop being useful to venkys so that they kindly fuck off

Yep, he left this club in a far better state than he found it.
But yeah. Pogba .

Who really cares if he talks a load of pony, I don't ask these football shows and pundits and opinions and whatever, a really tremendous bore.
It's really quite incidental to him swimming the channel and being the figurehead of this charity. There's a young girl whose every waking moment is filled with pain, and others like her, too. They've been given reason to hope by Graeme getting involved with Debra.
I really couldn't give a flying fuck whether his opinions are a load of rubbish. Just so mean-spirited to harp on about that when he's done something for others that really I couldn't do. Swimming the channel, I'm just not a swimmer, I'd find that really tough. Going on breakfast TV and being emotionally vulnerable , to get the word out there , in order to get this fundraising going. He's raised so much money, and I think this is just the start.
But yeah, he doesn't like Paul pogba and he's Scottish, plus any idiot can do what he did so let's throw everything in the bin.
Wtf

Brilliant feat for a 70 year old man. I never thought he’d manage it.
I must admit I was worried he wouldn't make it. I'm so glad he's done it, what a great fellow he is.
Fingers crossed that this kick starts the beginning of a cure for this affliction.

Shocking outfit from howarth there, where did he buy his clobber?
So remember his cheesy "I'm on the phone" photo from the match program

Some great goals and memories
Poignant was David Thompson with a rare header. Saw him outside Ewood shortly after he'd had to finish because of a knee injury
He looked absolutely distraught. Very good player
He was a grand player with a great attitude, one of my faves at the time

Ronnie has to be in for me. 665 appearances over 19 years according to Wiki.
I remember him working at the club doing the ground tours and he was an absolute gentleman. My mum sent him a thank you letter after we did the tour there and he sent us a Christmas card back.
What a lovely fella he sounds, I'm sorry I didn't get to meet him.

There are 3 people who can rightly be attributed the status of ‘Mr Blackburn Rovers’. They should all have statues but only one does.
Jack Walker
Bob Crompton
Tony Parkes
Not arguing over those three, but Ronnie and duggie?

I only said this century because I was trying to narrow it down a bit. It's just arbitrary to make it easier.
I didn't see emerton against wolves but apparently that was a good un

I was just stood here idly pioneering this one. From the last twenty of years, what has been the individual performance in a match by a rovers player I've liked best
Funnily enough the last thirteen years didn't figure in my considerations.
There was one stand-out performance that I really loved, but first two honourable mentions. Friedel in the cup final, the man was just a wall that day. Secondly hakan Suker against Fulham, the man was just different gravy, a centre forward masterclass.
But the one I've liked best... Was mcateer playing at turf moor. Good lord, he was bloody everywhere that day. Just immense.
There'll be a ton that I've missed, so interested to hear what others think.

Before my time but how about that blacklaw fella? Friedel was an amazing keeper, and I'm not disputing he was the best, but I'm just interested is all.
I'm the end, it doesn't really matter who was the best

Just checked Google maps, it's a six hour drive. I should imagine in an mg that's not totally comfy. Running a hotel as well, you'd think he went up and back in a day?

Oh, I forgot to mention, he loved a pie from lever's as well

I knew Joe very well. He was from Gt Harwood and a member of a well known family of gents outfitters in the town, who were all massive Rovers fans. To be pedantic he lived in Wadebridge, where he ran a hotel, Also he went to every home game and drove up in his MG sports car. That’s what I would call a committed supporter
Wowsers. Salute to Joe

first player to be shown a red card in the football league i do believe
Yeah, funnily enough there's a story on his book about that as well. He wasn't too keen on the football league I would say.
This is the funny bit, he got a yellow and the ref got his yellow out and showed it to all four corners of the ground in turn. Waggy commented to him that that was jolly silly as it would upset the crowd. At which point he got booked again and sent off 😂
Funnily enough, he showed the red to all four corners as well
Also mentioned was squadron leader Joe mercer, who travelled to every rovers away game from Newquay. Blimey must've cost a packet

I had waggys tales delivered at the weekend.
David wagstaffe is the author. Somewhat limited interest as it's mainly wolves, but there's some good rovers stuff in there and it only cost three quid.
When he signed for rovers he bought a guest house in Blackpool to run, Jack walker have him some steel at a good price to do an extension.
When he turned up to sign he was shocked to discover Jim smiths office was the upstairs bedroom of a house opposite the stadium
He refers to Wh Bancroft as Billy Bancroft. He used to come off at full time and Billy would hand him a lit fag
There's a story about a striker, well it is seventies football
Then there's this hysterical story about how after training the players were due to have a team meeting in the dressing room. Stuart metcalfe turns up late with everyone's chip shop order.etcalfe is referred to as Mecca by waggy. There's another player called smigga no idea who that is. Jim Smith does his nut. So funny

The owners, somehow. Everything pales into insignificance whilst they continue to mismanage us, even the CEO.
If we assume that the question is after the owners have left, then replace Waggott and a total re think of pricing.
@Miller11 is right too on the attitude.
Yeah nothing changes unless the owners do, so it's just pie in the sky. We're not getting promoted while they're here, I'm sure of that.
What changes you make to a football club that's been hollowed out and losers money hand over fist...I guess you go for promotion then run the club on a shoestring, get spanked every week and try to offset the losses?

No shot of the manager welcoming him to Ewood?

I remember reading Andy Morrison's book, that was a good read, especially what he used to get up to in Plymouth. He's a good lad who's been through some very tough times. Wish he'd had more of a chance at Rovers.
They do seem incredibly touchy, no idea why. I think Jon Dahl has possibly just not expressed himself very well, no big issue. Bit more worried that we seem to have signed someone whose pedigree doesn't seem that impressive, but let's give the fellow a chance.
