  1. And that's pertinent in what way exactly to the Campbell quote I highlighted? My point was most of the trophies we've won had nothing to do with Jack Walker, when they were won is immaterial, Campbell's quote is a distortion, and now you've distroted my response to it! You dingles are all the same, arent you?!
  2. "Not least"? Those millions helped us win one trophy out of however many we won. And he can't even get the slogan on the banner right. Typical.
  3. So it's not so much Protestants v Catholics as West versus East? Hmm ... there must be at least a proportion of teh fans who just see it in religious terms. I remember an Aberdeen fan I used to know saying they went to a game versus Rangers and their fans were singing: "Eff the Pope". Against Aberdeen?! And what about Rangers fans urging Gazza to play the lash or whatever tehy call it?
  4. But ... religion is intertwined with geographical location and club allegiance (if what you're saying is right). So ... isn't the choice of what club you support down to religion, at least in a transitive sense?
  5. Having been on this messageboard for a while I feel that Jim and Exiled in Toronto have agendas other than an open discussion of Rovers at heart. They're quite happy to slag off anything and everything. It was just a throwaway line from me on a sh1tty day in East Kent, I doubt it will alter the standard of the "debate" in any way.
  6. Streakyb, I think you are making the mistake of being logical, coherent and reasonable with people who want to moan and groan - it's makes them happy.
  7. What?! Other than Duff, what monies could we possibly be owed. To get a club with a billionaire owner to pay us 17 mill at their leisure is disgusting. They're sat on the interest for a start, unless that's been factored in in the final payment. Doesn't sound right to me.
  8. For the fans of Burnley and Blackburn (at least for those still living in the area), this is the biggest derby in the World. And for those living in Glasgow the Old Firm is. It's all very reminiscent of the yawnsome "my club is bigger than yours" rubbish that we have to withstand on here. As far as I know there isn't a "derbyometer" that can accurately gauge how "big" a derby is. Just like there isn't a "bigclubometer". In the end partisan affiliations dictate what your view is on this, but it does make for a lot of hot air as people end up chasuing their own tails.
  9. Pssst, Bob, you've schpleded Dickov wrongly. If you change it now smarty-dingle-pants won't see it.
  10. Yeah, Real v Barca is not just a meeting between top club, it's the fascists against the separatists, the centrists against the Catalans. Bet Figo would have said it felt like a derby after his first game vs Barca for Real. A pig's head chucked on the pitch - nice!
  11. You must be confusing me with Duff, who likes Young Boys. Mind you, Blackpool does seem a bit "fruity" from what I can tell (got chatted up once or twice).
  12. Not favourites, but teams I like to see doing well: - Accrington (lived there for a short while) - Blackpool (must be because they're in Lancashire, started when Tony Diamond went there) - Whoever's playing Burnley - Whoever's playing Rangers - Keep an eye out for teams local to where I live at the time, eg Margate. Like to see Shepshed Dynamo lose though - had to live in Shepshed for a while - it's worse than Burnley!
  13. gotta say, Gav, you appear a little short of mates at the minute.
  14. Ooops, sorry mate!
  15. Don't they get Premiership attendance figures in Scotland? Are they that insular they don't know what the local derbies are? Does he really expect people to believe he only found out he'd make a mistake once he'd moved? What a fool. Only comes out with it when he leaves, what a tosser.
  16. Debs should go: - Less likely to cause a riot. - Will be able to see the game - To wind Gav up.
  17. You could always try jogging there. 12 miles at 10 min/miling, take about 2 hours. Of ourse, part of the way you'll be on the M65, could be a bit hairy. And you'll probably look like ##i# when you get there. Other than that, no worries.
  18. I think Leighton James still plays for them ... in wellies.
  19. What a vacuous phrase "confidence player". Every player relies on their confidence. Problem with him is that he's over-confident, hence he makes mistakes. What is wrong with making criticism of him on here? Should we be careful to criticise players down the pub, in case it gets overheard, relayed back to them, and damages their brittle confidence?
  20. Having him in the team is counter-productive to our top-flight survival.
  21. I would say I'd be glad when this game's over, but no doubt the cr*p will continure to fly for weeks afterwards. Yawn.
  22. Our away kit should be silver with a montage of naked women overlaid on it.
  23. I don't remember Henning Berg or David May being the most attack-minded of full-backs, but they were solid. OK, you had Le Saux on the other side, but he was a pretty good defender as well. Saying "OK, he can't defend very well, but he's good going forward" is the kind of thinking that brings about the insanity of Amoruso in defence.
