We looked mentally tired to me. Too many players not willing to take responsibility and only too keen to pass the buck ( ball ) to others. Usually backwards. How many times did we see a player end up in a difficult situation pass the ball to a player in a worse situation ? I really hate that. Plus all the brainless passing to nobody until the keeper leathered it right down field and back to the Germans. Why can’t the keeper rein it in a bit and drop the ball onto the half way line area and at least give us a chance of winning it ? Our pressing was awful, they played through us with ease most of the time. Any pressing system that relies on Siggy busting a gut is going to fail. I’ve worked at places that were on the skids economically and I know that the situation gets to you in the end no matter how hard you try. I think the economic uncertainty at Ewood Park is getting to the playing staff.

Is there another team in for him besides Rovers ? If there is he won’t be coming here.

He might as well have been sat next to me on the sofa. What an awful performance. We passed it back more than we passed it forward. Our discipline was poor as well. Without Sammi there’s no goal threat at all.

There’s a long article in my paper today about what the writer sees as a crunch point in the game. We’d just got back into the match at 1-1 and we had a throw in well inside the Spain half. Walker was taking it and I must admit I was thinking “ let’s see if we can repeat the throw in that led to that goal earlier in the comp”. What happens was he thinks about it for ages and then throws it back to Stones, who’s put under pressure, he puts it back to Pickford. Pickford launched it down field and we didn’t see the ball again for ages after that.

Not only do we not win, we don’t even look like winning.

Possibly, I feel that Newcastles owners would like somebody more high profile.
