  1. He’s better playing nearer to the striker, out on the wing he can be over elaborate.
  2. Yeah, l learnt a long while ago - never get involved with the officials. There’s no mileage in it.
  3. The ref sensed he was losing control so he was trying to regain it with a card. Plus the Burnley player made a right meal of it.
  4. I Eustace is ruthless enough to drop anybody if he thinks he can improve the team. “ Get rid of the bad players before they get rid of you “.
  5. I’m not talking Premier League, I’m talking ambitious Championship sides that might start struggling - Hull or Sheff Wed say, even Leeds or Boro. There’s plenty that want out of this division, unfortunately we aren’t one of them.
  6. Strikers scored more goals back in the day because the emphasis then was on attack and getting the ball into goal scoring areas. When you played with two out and out strikers and two wingers supplying the chances you couldn’t fail.
  7. There was a lot of pace on the pass as well, but there had to be to get the ball through. The more I see of Guyere the more I like, that was a really good ball to Dolan. Great header down for the goal as well. As someone else said - very Jim Fryatt.
  8. Well, they’re still looking up the league table at an unbeaten Blackburn Rovers, that’s for sure.
  9. it won’t be long before holding on to him will become an issue unfortunately.
  10. I thought that as well. I also thought Dolan’s first touch was heavy, taking him too close to goal and leaving a shot his only option. On another point, when shooting in that position - go higher, not along the ground.
  11. Maybe our coach pointed it out to him as well.
  12. That’s the thing we’re coming out on the right side of crunch matches.
  13. I was thinking of going as well Jim.
  14. It was just two players coming together on the the Dolan “ goal “. I don’t think either player was properly aware of the other, so you had a collision. Play on for me. Nobody was catching Dolan anyway.
  15. Here’s me thinking Phillipl was really good with numbers !
  16. Shearer in his prime could score from anywhere in the last third. He scored some real thunderbolts in his time. He was jaw droppingly good.
  17. They have some decent players but that didn’t look to me like a “ Premier League Team “ in the making like you could have argued the team we last played was. Lots of good players but no outstanding prospects that look like they could step up anymore. Lots of pretty average championship level players now. The lad who fouled Big Mak is supposed to be a class defender but class defenders don’t end up having to rugby tackle the guy they’re supposed to be marking to stop them ! Just one example.
  18. If you watch the video of him you could see he’s the sort of player that likes to really get involved. Bags of pace and he’ll be brave on the ball. I was wondering about his temperament in a massive game. He came through with flying colours against what could have been a tricky opponent. I smiled at Eustace saying when he told the lad he was playing on Friday the lad went a bit pale. !
  19. He took his “ goal “ really well though. A nice finish.
  20. I agree, Trav did his level best but I could see where that shot would end up.
  21. Yeah, Racing Club v Celtic comes to mind, or Chile v Italy 1962. It’s another game now.
  22. As soon as I saw it was Travis on the ball I knew where the shot was going. Fair play to the guy for getting up in support right at the death. He must have been knackered. So much for getting rid of him ! He’s indispensable at the moment.
  23. Or Sammi. That was Sammi’s strength, he made his mind up quickly and kept whatever he was doing simple.
  24. I give everybody a chance when they come in, apart from Coyle, he was obviously a walking disaster. Eustace had done pretty well at Big Club so I reckoned he must have something about him. He immediately put right what JDT never could, the constant leaking of goals, apart from the aberration at Bristol. As you say the two life saving away performances at Leeds and Leicester told me the players were playing for him. This season we’re back to being the resilient Blackburn Rovers team that we expect from teams wearing the Blue and White. We aren’t brilliant but we are a hard working team that are giving 100% , that’s all I ever ask for.
  25. That’s what I thought. He always wants that extra touch. It needs coaching out of him.
