  1. Dougie was a better dribbler and quicker over the ground than Tugay but he didn’t have the range of subtle passes that Tugay had. That ball to Jansen was a classic example. He had it on a string. He was up there with the best playmakers I’ve ever seen going from Didi, Di Stefano and Gerson, Ardiles etc back in the day and coming up to date a bit with Riquelme and Georgi Hagi. Having said that ball is easier and the pitches are infinitely better now than they were in Bryan’s day.
  2. Yeah it had back spin so it sat up for the striker to lob the keeper. Best passer of a ball I’ve ever seen at Ewood and I saw Dougie play when he was in his prime.
  3. I still haven’t forgotten the opening goal for Fulham away last season. My mum could have saved it and she’s 92.
  4. Spurs need a keeper, that’s for sure. I’ve never rated Lloris.
  5. According to the papers Everton are thinking of replacing Frank Lampard with David Moyes if Lampard gets fired ! It’s a great game if you can get on the gravy train. The worse you are the better it is.
  6. Yeah the one for Jansen had a message written on it - it said “ Here, put this in “.
  7. How many of those do you think Gallagher would have gotten on the end of, never mind put away ?
  8. Of course, the minute you think you’ve cracked it is the minute you start going backwards. We needed a better winger than Wilcox and a better centre half than Pearce. We didn’t get them.
  9. “ Physical and rough “ has got more chance of getting you out of this division than “ playing out from the back “ unless we have £20 million to chuck at real footballers that are capable of doing it.
  10. What does strong mean ? We don’t know our best team or our best way of playing - again.
  11. Big Club it is then.
  12. Players only come to Rovers if there’s no other realistic alternative.
  13. I think Dack has to play. He was the only one busting a gut on Saturday.
  14. Jonathan Llew has a good article in todays paper concerning the shambles at Everton but most of it could equally apply to the shambles at Rovers. ” There will be no trophies. There will be no famous Champions League nights at Bramley-Moore Dock. You will not get to see the worlds finest players in an Everton shirt. Your owner is a billionaire who will never speak to you or attend a game, and if he wants to run the ship aground there is not a damn thing you can do about it. No matter how loudly you sing, no matter how many blue smoke canisters you let off, the limit to your ambition will always be top seven and occasionally signing someone promising from Burnley “.
  15. Nah, they didn’t like Big Sam and Dyche is just Sam Mk 2.
  16. Pickering’s a very lucky boy to get another game after starting the rot on Saturday. I’d have made him sit in a darkened room on his own watching their first goal over and over for a good hour in training yesterday. If we’re going to play him and JRC we need to go to three centre halves and play them as wing backs. No way are either of them good enough defenders to play as conventional full backs.
  17. No problem there then, there’s loads of excellent ball playing defenders knocking about in the lower leagues.
  18. 24 months ago he wasn’t worth a carrot.
  19. I didn’t even watch the twice yearly thrashing of the dingles by City. That’s how fed up of it all I was.
  20. This “ stopping counter attacks” worked well at Rotherham. Trying to not give the opposition the ball would be a good start.
  21. I’ve not watched MOTD since we left the Prem. Not once.
  22. Gallagher needs to try his hand at basketball. I’ve come around to thinking football isn’t his game. You could have got somebody off the supporters bus to play as badly as he did on Saturday.
  23. Somebody must be producing them for other clubs to be able buy them.
