  1. Just seen the bench, bloody hell - two green centre halves, two left backs and a very green left wing back. I’d still have Pickering in for DeNeve. Forshaw just back after his latest injury, he can’t have more than 15 minutes in him. What’s going to happen on the 65 -70 minutes mark when we need to sub players I shudder to think.
  2. Given the current fit players who would you play at either right wing back in the 3 at the back or at right back in a back 4 ?

  5. Imagine having all that money and not having a mirror in your house.
  6. £4 million is peanuts for Premier League players. What was the combined value of the two full backs Leicester had when we beat them = £35 million was it ? Our guy is better than both of them.
  7. I watched his debut for Nigeria. He didn’t look out of place in a top class team. Then he got the mystery cut to his leg.
  8. I wouldn’t let him go for that. He’s got bags of potential and 4 mill from a Premier League club is about the equivalent of their milk bill.
  9. I bet they keep Tronstad out of his way until he signs.
  10. They’ve got Norton-Cuffy in their sights for the right back position. Plus Coleman is back in training.
  11. I bet Christmas mornings in your house were a hoot.
  12. If he’s left footed he could be the new left wing back.

  14. More or less picks itself to a great extent. Tell Cantwell and Baradji to get up with the striker when they can.
  15. Back in the day somebody could have come on here and said they’d heard Roy Keane was signing after the weekend. Just because it didn’t happen doesn’t mean they were wrong. We all now know how close we were to signing Keane.
  16. I remember seeing a young lad called Dennis Rofe playing left back for Orient at Rochdale in the old third division. This would be about 1970. Rochdale had a really good right winger at the time, City were supposed to be signing him but it never happened. Rofe completely bottled the winger up, and then near the end he fan the length of the field to lay on the winning goal. I thought this lad looks a real prospect. So I wrote to the club scout. I got a letter back thanking me but saying that “ Rofe was already under contract to Orient “. Well I knew that. 2 years later Orient sold him to Leicester for what was then a record fee for a British full back ! He went on to have a long career at Leicester, Southampton and Chelsea.
  17. Me and my girlfriend of the time are in that photograph towards the back and in the centre. I’ve seen a better, clearer photo and I can pick us out. It was a top class performance on a really tricky pitch was beginning to become frozen after half time. Our future manager Gordon Lee was playing at left back for Villa and Mike Ferguson ran him ragged in a 5-1 win. January 2nd 1965. Crowd 18,292 Rovers Else Newton, Joyce Clayton, England, McGrath Ferguson, McEvoy, Byrom, Douglas, Harrison Scorers Byrom 3, McEvoy 2.
  18. He was playing in the famous 5-2 game against Plymouth. I thought the other lad playing up front with him , Billy Rafferty ? , looked a better prospect at that time.
  19. I could never understand how Mariner ended up at Plymouth before he moved to Ipswich. Wasn’t he at Chorley ?
  20. They played that live on the pitch back in the day. Against Aston Villa I think.
