I’m not Hedges biggest fan but I think lately he’s earned his place out on the left hand side. I really like Ohashi, I think he’s the best pure finisher at the club, but from all accounts Gudjonnsen looked to be more of an attack leader. I’d rather we didn’t have to bring him on to get us back in the game. I’d start him. However if we don’t and we start with Ohashi, that’s fair enough.

I’ll know better after Saturdays game, it’ll be the first time I’ve been able to see them in the flesh in a competitive game. Ipswich will provide a proper test.

I think then we’d be back to having two defensive midfield players who rarely contribute anything in the last third of the pitch. I thought the idea of signing Tavares and the lad who’s got a foot problem at the moment was to get one of the central midfield players to get forward more and join in with attacking play. Granted we haven’t seen a lot of that from Tavares so far.

For me playing Ohashi as a No 9 is similar to us trying to play Simon Garner as a No 9. He’d give it a good go but he’d be way better playing off another striker. As he was. Unfortunately nobody plays that way anymore.

He was pretty impressive in his debut considering I’d never heard of him previously.

He’s being played in the role that suits him best. Playing him out on the right reminds me of of the time Mowbray had Giles playing out there.
