It’s only my grandson that keeps me interested. I now think the Chicken Chokers will outlast me unfortunately but I’m pretty sure they won’t outlast him as he’s only 18. I thought he was deeply average in the Euros to be honest. Along with several other highly touted names, McAtee, Hackney, Scott etc. I was expecting much more. He lacks the real pace to trouble the better teams. That doesn’t mean to say he won’t trouble us.

There was a bunch of maybe 20-25 Big Club fans stood on the half way line on the Riverside that got quieter and quieter as the game went on. A memory of happier days.
