Yeah we had some poor left wingers back in the day. Don Hutchins, a Brian Hill clone. John Aston, he’d been a good player at Utd, my man of the match in the Euro Final against Benfica, but injuries had reduced him significantly. -

Yeah, Mike Harrison was built like a taller and faster Mark Hughes with a shot like a rocket. As you say he didn’t relish the rough stuff unfortunately. Fergie could fight fire with fire. -

I’m not sure we have the squad that enjoys being “ worked hard “. We’ll soon see. -

I’ve seen them all since 1961 and the two Mikes were the best pair of wingers we’ve had in all that time. Mike Ferguson and Mike Harrison. The perfect combination of real pace in Harrison and ball playing trickery in Ferguson. -

Then we had people on here telling us the fee we got for him was just about right. Even the dogs in the street knew he was a once in a generation level player. Players who can turn defence into attack with one instant pass like he can are worth their weight in gold today. Another reason why I’ll never forgive the chicken chokers. -

If he does get a 3 year contract I’ll give you any odds you like he won’t last 3 years. -

One thing you can be sure of - if they’re shit they’ll be here longer than if they are amazing. -
I’ve been watching both codes of rugby for 60 years and I can count the number of games I’ve seen were the best team lost on the fingers of two hands. It so rarely happens. By the very nature of the game the team that scores more tries, makes more clean breaks, carries the ball for more yards usually wins. In that respect it’s a less frustrating game.

Maybe the players thought Lowe was near to being appointed as well. That would explain the no-show on Saturday. -

Even Walton was better and he was pretty poor. As you say goalkeeping isn’t what it was. -

There must be about 7 or 8 of those teams no longer playing league football.
