  1. City bore me. Pass, pass, pass. Side to side and back again. No end product.
  2. It depends who’s doing the recognising. Even as a kid at Rovers he was at a Tugay level of passing. That was pretty obvious.
  3. That’s not what I called him, but how we could do with him now.
  4. The Righteous Brothers- ( You’re My) Soul And Inspiration
  5. The “ B” side of “ Shop Around “ .I used have that on a “ London “ label 45. The Essex - A Walkin’ Miracle
  6. Liverpool team that day. Furnell Byrne, Yeats, Moran Milne, Leishman Lewis, Hunt, St John, Melia, A’Court Rovers team - Else Taylor, Woods, Bray Clayton, Newton Douglas, Craig, Lawther, Ferguson, Haverty Dougie scored our 89th minute winner in front of a crowd of 21,700.
  7. Yeah The Don played at the back also. He was class act, he could play anywhere. All those players you named played at both ends of the pitch. The one player who looked completely at ease in both positions was Paul Warhurst. He really could play anywhere at top level.
  8. Yes I think you’re right about that however he soon reverted to the position he played most of his career in at centre half. Terry Eccles was another one that played in both positions. I wasn’t at the Fulham game but we could have played an embryonic wing back line up with Hird and Bailey as wing backs and Faz, Keeley and Hawkins as the three centre backs. I wouldn’t mind that back 5 playing for us today !
  9. Nowhere near as good a defender as Nyambe was but probably a lot better going forward. That’s a very low bar though.
  10. Wharton was a once in a generation level talent. Duru isn’t as good as Nyambe was when he first broke into the team. He needs another loan, he’s not a championship level player at the moment.
  11. In the Rochdale game he did nothing. He should have been a level above everybody else on the pitch. As it was he looked really ordinary. He didn’t look interested to be honest. Plus - he’s not very big. I know Alan Wright wasn’t very big either but he turned out to be top class, however players like him don’t come along very often.
  12. It ended up a 1-1 draw in front of 9,406 fans. Rovers - Bradshaw Fazackerly, Keeley, Hawkins, Bailey Hird, Parkes, Taylor, Wagstaffe, Mitchell, Waddington No subs. Mitchell scored. A strange line up, 4 centre halves out there.
  13. That’s the one. We were never in the second half at all. Nobody did themselves any favours.
  14. Yeah, Rochdale V Rovers earlier last season. We got battered.
  15. The late great Bobby Moore’s last game apparently.
  16. I watched Duru in that game at Rochdale. From what I saw he’s nowhere near ready for a first team spot. The game just passed him by.
  17. There’s a typo on “ reigns “ guys. Should be “ reins “. Other than that - excellent.
  18. Too right. Anybody who pulls that blue and white shirt on deserves our full support.
  19. From what bits I’ve seen I can’t think of any of the “ kids “ that are ready for a serious run of games at Championship level.
  20. If he could improve his decision making he’d be a much better player. Souey did that with Matt Jansen so somebody should be able to do the same with Dolan.
  21. It’s on the back page of today’s “ Guardian “ with more of the story on an inside page. It’s featured as an exclusive by Tom Garry - “ Blackburn tell angry players WSL 2 place is in jeopardy. “ It doesn’t really tell us anything thst we on here don’t already know. It just refers to “ Blackburn “, it doesn’t mention the Chicken Chokers at all. It come to something when the women players have more balls than the men when it comes to speaking out !
  22. Allegedly they had to chose between Taylor or Ball about who to sign.
  23. I don’t get carried away with young players shining initially in their careers. The history of football is full of kids who looked great for a game or two. They’re playing on pure adrenaline. When that wears off ? Remember Adam Henley ?
