  1. Gueye and Ohashi together hasn’t worked so far. Possibly because they’ve never actually been played as a pair, but one playing behind the other.
  2. Like what. In a winger I look for real pace, has he got a trick or two, is he two footed, is he a threat in the air, is he a nasty bastard to play against, does he demand the ball ? I couldn’t see any of those attributes in Hedges when I first saw him play and nothing has changed subsequently.
  3. Johnny Rivers - The Poor Side Of Town
  4. Me too. Playing or watching, winning is everything.
  5. He was absolutely terrible last season. Given the wages he was on probably our worst loan signing ?
  6. It won’t be long before he is up to that standard. If he can stay injury free the sky’s the limit. He’s unique.
  7. He was like that on his debut.
  8. The fight started going out of the club as a whole the day the Chicken Chokers walked through the door.
  9. Same guy put in one of the best crosses I ever saw. Right on MGP’s foot from 40 yards away against Fulham.
  10. It’s not the real relegation thread unless Jim starts it. Accept no imitations.
  11. I’m not sure. Didn’t he have a spell at right back ?
  12. I was watching both Trav and Tron last Saturday closely. On several occasions both players managed to intercept a pass and get half way in front of their immediate opponent. Common football sense says you then run directly in front of your opponent. That way they either have to let you go or foul you, if you have reasonable pace that is. On nearly every occasion they were too slow to run in front and they then had the ball taken off them. This happened several times and I was really surprised at both players lack of pace. Are they being flogging in training ? I know 90% of players will train just as hard as they are made to. Most like an easy life.
  13. It’s only my grandson that keeps me interested. I now think the Chicken Chokers will outlast me unfortunately but I’m pretty sure they won’t outlast him as he’s only 18. I desperately want to keep the love of Blackburn Rovers in my family. His dad only maintains a watching brief via the TV nowadays. I am away on holiday. This was our text conversation after last nights game - Grandson - “ That’ll teach me for going to midweek cup games “. Me - “ Yeah, anybody play well ? “ Grandson - “ Tavares my MOM, Cantwell didn’t have a good game but you can still tell he’s a step above the rest “ “ Let’s hope Toth doesn’t get injured cos that Michalski is awful “. “ Travis off to Derby as well “. Me - “ Mm, Birmingham up next. “ Grandson - “ Ticket already bought “. Me - “ Good on you Luke, it won’t always be like this ! “ He’s a great kid, off to Uni this year and one of the reasons for the Uni he chose was so he could get over to watch Rovers.
  14. I thought he was deeply average in the Euros to be honest. Along with several other highly touted names, McAtee, Hackney, Scott etc. I was expecting much more. He lacks the real pace to trouble the better teams. That doesn’t mean to say he won’t trouble us.
  15. There have been incidences of other managers being incentivised by also being given a cut of the subsequent transfer fees earned by the young players. Just saying
  16. The chicken chokers probably think we can whistle up a Wharton every season. We all know that players like him come along every 20-25 years, if you’re lucky. We only kept hold of Wharton as long as we did because he was also a fan.
  17. Fred Pickering also looking on from the right.I think we won that game 6-1. Not much chance of that happening this Saturday. From what I remember Big Club played a debutant at right back and Mike Harrison ran all over him for the whole game. Sound familiar ? Another memory is of Mike England powering in a header from a corner were he got so high he was heading the ball down into the top corner ! There was a bunch of maybe 20-25 Big Club fans stood on the half way line on the Riverside that got quieter and quieter as the game went on. A memory of happier days.
  18. He has no football intelligence at all. He reminds me of Chapman before he got injured.
  19. Richard Anthony - Too Late To worry
  20. That team would get beaten for sure. And possibly heavily.
  21. Yeah, they are not really comparable.
  22. 1-1, lose on pens. That’s conditional on us playing the team Ismael seems to want to field.
