  1. Anybody who refuses to play for Blackburn Rovers goes down a long way in my estimation. “ Legend “ - Who are you trying to kid ? Not me for sure.
  2. He was the one player with the X factor. He could do things with a football that I could never do. So sad the injuries robbed him of what might have been.
  3. We all know the culture throughout the club has been rotten for years. We’ve been perennial losers. The total inability to come back from going behind. The total lack of ability to win midweek away matches. Always losing the big games. Always managing a win when it doesn’t matter anymore. These things tell me all I need to know. So a clear out was needed. Maybe it will work, maybe it won’t. But a least we are trying to do something different.
  4. At the risk of repeating myself my view is that having two very similar central midfield players was doing us no favours in the long term. Neither of them had much in their locker regarding either scoring or making goals. We were a pretty defensive outfit without ever becoming a team similar to the Howard Kendall team that seemed to win 1-0 every week. We had 7 at the back at times but still conceded goals. Something had to change if we were going to become a more attacking team. I think now we’ll have one defensive midfield player and an attacking central midfield player. Neither of Travis or Tronstad had the required ball playing skills to play the attacking central midfield role. I don’t think either player has the necessary athleticism to do the amount of explosive running required in the role. I was surprised to see how short of real pace both of them were in the WBA game. OK it was early days in the season but they were both really pedestrian. You can get away with that in the defensive role but not in the attacking role. In summing up players come and go, it’s part of football. Am I heartbroken about Travis leaving ? In a word -no. When Wharton left I was inconsolable.
  5. I think Ipswich signed Travis as insurance policy in case Sam Morsy self destructed. He didn’t, so Travis was hardly used. That tells me the management at Ipswich thought Morsy was a better player than Travis.
  6. Curtis Mayfield - ( Don’t Worry ) If There’s A Hell Below We’re All Going To Go.
  7. William Bell And Judy Clay - Private Number
  8. Plus the wages of all the loan players we had.
  9. I think at the end of the day the £ out going will balance the £ in coming. Wasn’t that always the plan ? We will have actually spent plus 0.
  10. It always makes it look worse. It’s a bit like when you’re waiting to come on as a sub. The game looks to be going at a million miles an hour from the touchline, Once you get on you soon get used to it.
  11. I can send you some complimentary newspapers to use as shin pads. It’ll have to be “ The Guardian “ though.
  12. I used to buy “Gant “ clothes when they were made in the USA back in the day. They were expensive but good quality. Now they are normally made in the far East. Still expensive but the quality isn’t what it was. I’ll bet that your shirts are better quality. The 1960’s one I bought certainly was. I’m not really up for buying one of the 1950’s shirts but if you get stuck with any I’ll buy one to support what I think a really good cause.
  13. I think that was DeNeve and I think they may be right.
  14. Much as I liked Nyambe as a defender anybody who thinks he should be playing as a wing back needs to give their head a wobble.
  15. It was the same with Gueye in the WBA game, he was effectively refferreed out of the match.
  16. All I care about is what happens on the pitch for 90 minutes. That’s my focus, anything else is just candy floss.
  17. In my opinion part of the reason for that was we were playing with two water carriers in central midfield. Neither of them are particularly good at getting up to and beyond the forwards. There were times when we were playing with a back 7 if you include the goalkeeper. With Cantwell also playing deeper that left the forward 3 players to do a hell of a lot ! I think Ismael realised early on that if we were going to score more goals at least one of the central midfield players needed to be able to get forward more and link up forward play and join in with attacks. If that is his thinking I agree with him.
  18. Eddie Cochran - Summertime Blues
  19. I was there. The handball was on or around the half way line mid way through the game. It was game over after that and we got battered. Dumb football. Like that Kevin Ball “ tackle “ on Dunny. Brain dead. Whatever chance the dingles had of getting something out of the game went with him.
  20. His lack of pace would be shown up more out wide. Kargbo would be faster running backwards.
