  1. I predicted a while ago that heading the ball will be banned at some point in the future.
  2. Jim, that’s all they know. They can’t play any other way.
  3. Sounds like they bowled like it today. The idea was to bat all day today and give them a rest. As it was they’re back bowling again in no time.
  4. I’ve only seen the highlights so I can’t really comment on performances. I thought the header from Gudjohnsen was top notch, they are very easy to get wrong at that angle. The lad can finish, not much doubt about that. Gueye should have scored with his header, how can a big guy be so poor at heading the ball ? All in all a great win. I couldn’t see that coming at 8.00 pm with so many players being out for one reason or another. 100% effort from every player and that’s all I ever ask for from Rovers players. As I’ve said before the players are playing for the manager so we might has well get behind him. The set piece coach is earning his corn, that’s good to see. Top marks for Miller playing after flying all over the world last week.
  5. Playing with two up front helps.
  6. It’s creeping into the game at all levels. City started the fashion.
  7. Doctor Feelgood And The Interns - Mister Moonlight
  8. The Steve Miller Band - Mercury Blues.
  9. I’ve just realised that non of the usual main stream channels are even showing the highlights this evening. Then they wonder why most kids no longer have an interest in playing cricket.
  10. Crawley out to one that he could have easily left alone. They need to realise that you don’t have to score off every ball. We needed to hang around for longer and see Starc off. At least our bowlers have got us right back into the game. Nice to see us fight fire with fire for once, that one from Wood that hit the grill was real shaker. No helmet and that would have been a broken jaw. They don’t like it up ‘em either.
  11. A truly great midfield player.
  12. He was a nasty bastard as well. All this shit about “ he’s not really a very good tackler “ or “ he just doesn’t know how to tackle “ - bollocks, he knew exactly what he was doing.
  13. Who ? Where’s he playing these days ?
  14. Serbia at home v Albania away.
  15. Not a Rovers players any more but Zak Gilsenan came on as a sub for Grimsby late into the second half.
  16. Ask the dingles whether he can tackle or not. You don’t often see a tackle that takes out two players at once.
  17. I was in that scratching shed in front of the railway line. I can still see the Billy Holiday drop goal going over and it gets from further out every year. Up there with Rovers thrashing of Spurs 7-2 in my book. The final was lost in team selection., picking Nipper Harris instead of Peter Clarke at hooker. My mate shouted out to Alex Murphy at half time - “ What do you think of our hooker Alex ? “ Murph shouted back - “ He couldn’t get a ball out of Woolworths “.
  18. I don’t think Rogers did much last night. I can’t see him displacing the likes of Palmer once he’s fit again. Anderson has been playing well against very average teams with very average midfields. He’s got qualities that Wharton hasn’t got - extreme mobility for one, but Wharton has qualities that Anderson hasn’t got - that first time defence splitting passing ability.
  19. The only good thing as far as I can see is we’ll be able to say to potential young players - “If you sign for us you’ll get a chance early on if you’re good enough - you could be the next Adam Wharton “.
  20. I would have thought last nights game would be classed as “ competitive “.
  21. It was in the Kel Coslett era, I think the centre was called John Hughes ? We signed him from Bramley.
  22. We just about did enough to win and no more.
  23. He should have been on instead of Henderson.
  24. Yeah I’ve been on Fartown. The embankment was absolutely huge. I remember Hornets playing there in a Challenge Cup tie. We were right by the right hand corner flag at the end we were attacking. Hudds were on the attack on the far side from us and they threw out a pass to their winger almost on our line. Our centre intercepted the ball and set off for the try line. He made a bee line for where me and my mate was stood. He was weaving around as he ran in a diagonal from one corner to another. It seems like half the Hudds team were chasing him. They caught him just as he made the try line and he carried a couple of them over when scored. He was gasping like a landed fish right in front of us.
  25. That’s a blow. We are counting on him and Archer.
