  1. Given the team we’ll have to put out tonight any sort of a positive result will be good.
  2. Atcheson may be on the bench for tomorrows game ?
  3. Landlords were real characters back then. We had one called Shufty. One night my mate complained about his beer being cloudy. It was summer and the tap room window was open. It immediately overlooked the canal. Shufty just picked the glass up and threw it out of the window and into the canal. Another time we were complaining the fire was low in the taproom. Shufty came with a shovel full of coal and threw it on the taproom floor. He said “ Help yourself lads “? He had a big fish tank that he sometimes topped up with the dregs. You only knew there were goldfish in it when you saw their noses up against the sides of the tank. It’s a swingers club now. Funnily enough every time we pass it Mrs Shoelaces reminds me it’s a swingers club. I think she’s trying to tell me something !
  4. At least Taylor-Hickman will be available. He’ll have to play the Tronstad role.
  5. I’m not surprised, he’s a good player probably playing at his peak age wise. However I wouldn’t swap Alebiosu for him now.
  6. I would have thought the way we are set now would be perfect for him. The sooner he’s back the better although Morishita seems to be warming to the role.
  7. Probably as a result of that tackle from behind at Preston. Like that one on Ohashi at Leeds last season were we didn’t even get a free kick !
  8. I know, awesome decision making skills plus the ability to make the pass. He knows where to pass the ball before it arrives. Then Mateta fired it wide !
  9. Yes, money talks in any language. I wouldn’t be surprised at all.
  10. This one won’t go down well on here ! The Dave Clark Five - Glad All Over
  11. I can’t see anybody coming in for Tronstad given it’s supposed to be common knowledge that he want’s to return to Scandinavia. I think one of Pickering or Ribeiro could/should be sold/go out on loan.
  12. A team chock full of “ Artists “ rarely win you trophies. As a team mate of mine use to say - “ A team of Bobby Charltons would win you nothing because you’d never have the ball. “
  13. Me too, or Ribeiro. Moving Hedges there weakened us in two positions. I think you need experience in the centre half position more than most of the other positions. Good “ apprentice “ centre halves are as rare as hens teeth. Look at the lad we signed from Everton a few years ago. He looked extremely raw, now he’s played a few games he’s knocking on the door of the England team. You can have centre halves who are great in away games when you’re under siege. You’re always in the game and you’re more or less constantly in and around your own penalty area. However they can become unstuck in home games were we have the ball a lot of the time and they are positioned much further forward. You need to have much higher levels of concentration when you aren’t involved in play. That’s where the experience comes in. I like how Pratt played at Preston but it would be unwise to expect too much too soon. As it is we have no choice but to throw him in at the moment.
  14. My uncle was a drayman at the “ Thwaites “ brewery.
  15. I once read that around the turn of the 19th century ( 1895 -1900 ish ) there was 1 pub or beer house for every 14 people in Blackburn.
  16. I thought so, good job Preston didn’t think the same. “ Who’s marking the centre forward ? Nobody, let’s just let him run out there “. It was a good move - you can either head for goal or head the ball back into the danger area.
  17. Anybody read Frank’s quotes after the game ? That was what I was expecting to hear from JDT after the dingles fiasco.
  18. Litherland is definitely better on the ball, or he was when I last saw him play.
  19. In an ideal world I’d prefer a right footer playing on the right and vice versa. Especially at our level were two footedness seems to be a thing of the past.
  20. I like the lad, some times things happen when he comes on. Having said that he should have hit the target. If that’d have been at the other end we’d all be saying what a good clearing header that was.
  21. That doesn’t take account of the injuries we’ve suffered. Given a bit of luck we’d have had Toth, Carter, Wharton and Cantwell playing. They’d all be playing if they were fit. Instead we’ve had to use bench players and kids as starters. In spite of that we’ve always competed and never once given the impression that we’re feeling sorry for ourselves like I’ve seen other Rovers teams under other managers do.
  22. Great view of Gudjohnsen’s goal. That wasn’t an easy chance by any means. It would have been easy to hit the keeper with that. A good view of the Gueye header as well. How did he get that so wrong ? Alebiosu hung that ball up a treat, right where he wanted it.
  23. I once went watching the Rugby League at York. It’d snowed in the morning but then had stopped so the game was “ On “ . About 2-15 it started snowing heavily again. If it hadn’t have been a Challenge Cup game with a big gate it would have been called off. Me and my mate were stranded on an open end behind the sticks and we were like snowmen by kick off time. I’ve never been as cold ever, what saved our lives was my mates half bottle of rum he’d brought along ! Then we lost a very close game we should have won and then the coach broke down coming back over the tops ! What a great day !
  24. I think so, playing just behind the front two is made for him.
  25. We’ve had some bad loans recently but given the wages we were supposed to be paying Dennis he must have been the worst loan ever. All I can remember about him is him getting sent off.
