  1. Hedges was ok in the cameo. He’s another bench player, not a starter.
  2. The first half was dog shite. We couldn’t string more than two passes together. We kept being second best to 50/50 balls all over the pitch. No pace or tempo to our game. They just played through us in midfield with ease. I said to my grandson at half time. “ We can only get better in the second half “. I was wrong. We just carried on in the same fashion. We were just getting into the game after the subs when Dennis got the red card. I didn’t have a good view of the first card but their lad made a real meal of that tackle for the second card. After that you could see their goal coming. I was pleasantly surprised when we equalised because I thought the game had gone. Especially when Brittain wasted that free kick. I’m sorry but I saw two teams that will be nowhere the play offs. Neither had a cutting edge. Dolan, absolutely terrible. Lost the ball nearly every time he had it. Travis, poor first half, looked better when Tronstad came on. Ohashi, made a difference when he came on. Definitely a pen. It was right in front of me and the foul was just inside the box. Forshaw, too easy to play against. Good to see Tronstad back. He allows Travis to get more forward Gueye, held the ball up great inspite of getting absolutely zero service. Dennis, looked more direct than Dolan, not hard I know. Cantwell, loses the ball in dangerous parts of the pitch. And those corners ! Why just float them in, so easy to defend against. Weimann, the ideal player to bring on for the last 20 minutes if you need a goal. Not a starter. Kargbo, horrendous first touch for our early attack. He controlled it further than I can kick it these days. He’s got pace and he’s direct but his decision making isn’t great. Worth his place though for the threat alone. The two centre halves were our best players. The full backs were ok. It’s in front of them where it goes wrong.
  3. 10/10. You must have read my mind. Just saved me posting my scores.
  4. Setting off in a few minutes. It’s a lovely day up here. If you can’t play today you can’t play at all !
  5. Barbara Lewis - Make Me Your Baby
  6. I’ll be coming over with my grandson tomorrow. Let’s hope we can see a new manager bounce.
  7. Oh, and could you just let us know this weekends lottery numbers.
  8. When you see a player that makes the game look so easy at such a young age you know he’s destined to go all the way. What the other Premier League scouts were doing is a mystery. I saw that interview with Tony Mowbray were he said the Palace chairman had phoned him up to ask about Wharton and Mowbray was glowing in his praise.
  9. Yet he captained the England U-21’s ! That speaks volumes about the England set up back then. The first time I saw him play I was expecting to see the new Simon Barker. I was really surprised, he had nothing that stood out. Just a very, very ordinary player.
  10. It sounds like Beck had been carrying an injury for a while.
  11. The Temptations - Ball Of Confusion ( That’s What The World Is Today ).
  12. Yeah we had some poor left wingers back in the day. Don Hutchins, a Brian Hill clone. John Aston, he’d been a good player at Utd, my man of the match in the Euro Final against Benfica, but injuries had reduced him significantly.
  13. The Supremes - Up The Ladder To The Roof
  14. Yeah, Mike Harrison was built like a taller and faster Mark Hughes with a shot like a rocket. As you say he didn’t relish the rough stuff unfortunately. Fergie could fight fire with fire.
  15. I’m not sure we have the squad that enjoys being “ worked hard “. We’ll soon see.
  16. I’ve seen them all since 1961 and the two Mikes were the best pair of wingers we’ve had in all that time. Mike Ferguson and Mike Harrison. The perfect combination of real pace in Harrison and ball playing trickery in Ferguson.
  17. Then we had people on here telling us the fee we got for him was just about right. Even the dogs in the street knew he was a once in a generation level player. Players who can turn defence into attack with one instant pass like he can are worth their weight in gold today. Another reason why I’ll never forgive the chicken chokers.
  18. Brian Hill - the Hedges of his day.
  19. And how many have we conceded in stoppage time in that period.
  20. He’d be better than Pears in goal.
  21. If he does get a 3 year contract I’ll give you any odds you like he won’t last 3 years.
  22. One thing you can be sure of - if they’re shit they’ll be here longer than if they are amazing.
